Settled on this for my Aunt's Xmas pressie with my $25 catalogue voucher for $124.. Cant beat that for a new Sammy Tab I suppose even though the specs arent great.. Thanks OP..

    • where can I claim the $25 store credit in their website?

Do not use it as a "Promotional Code" in the Cart - It is not considered as a Promo Code. Go directly to the "Proceed to Checkout" page (do not use "Check out with Paypal" here). This page (assuming you logged in) will have a top section that allows you to put in voucher codes and a PIN number. Put those details in from your SMS that you got from the Catalogue promotions and click apply. It will deduct $25 from the amount. You can then pay by CC or Paypal here.

Go directly to the "Proceed to Checkout" page

Go directly to the "Proceed to Checkout" page, do not pass go, do not collect $200

        • Thank you bchliu :)

  • Thanks, OP.

My wife just dropped hers and cracked the glass, so excellent timing.

  • Haven't been following the tablet market closely, but aren't those all quite low specs?

    • Nobody makes 7" high end tablets anymore, that category was kind of unpopular anyways. That's why Google stopped the Nexus 7 after two iterations. All that's left is Samsung, Lenovo and ASUS, who still make a bunch of tablets in the sub $200 range which are all basic.

Mobile phone screen sizes went from 4.7 -> 5.5 -> 5.7 inches and now the latest beast from Xiaomi is like 6.44 inches with a ridiculously tiny bezel. Phablets killed the need for anyone to own a 7" tab.

For around $140~170 AUD though you can buy pretty good quality chinese tabs, from say Chuwi, Teclast, Xiaomi, PIPO and so on, all preloaded with a frankenstein mix of Windows and Android and using relatively powerful Atom Cherry Trail processors.

      • What do you think of the Samsung galaxy tab S2 9.7" ? It sells for 600 bucks

    • it's an awesome kids tablet. Just need one of those eva foam kid cases.

      • How's it for watching movies? Thinking of getting one for the plane and travelling

Great, I d/l stuff off YouTube for the kids (Dentex youtube downloader), they just watch them on VLC. 64gb SD card to hold the media. Doesn't seem to miss a beat with 60mins of peppa pig eps.

If you can get it for $125, then that's great. You can probably write it off on your tax next year (you are using it for work purposes/self study aren't you?)

        • @supabrudda:

Haha, thanks for your review mate, snapped one up!

  • It's $140 and reviews are good considering the cost.

  • I think Lenovo tab would be better than this. https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lenovo-tab-3-a7-10-16gb---bla…

With 25 dollar voucher it comes down to $71. Its $53 cheaper and similar specs.

    EDIT.

My bad, I was confusing this with galaxy tab 3 lite.

    • So Lenovo tab 7" not as good as Samsung Galaxy A 7"?

Lower resolution(1024x600 vs 1280x800). Lower ram(1 Gb vs 1.5 Gb) and processor is mediatek on Lenovo. Samsung using snapdragon. Processor is not really bad but ppl like snapdragon.

For me lower res makes it inferior.

500mb extra ram is not big difference. Samsung/lenovo branding means nothing to me. And processor difference is not deal breaker too. Battery is low on both.

If you are ok with lower resolution than Lenovo is ok.

        • Depends on your budget, if you want to go super cheap, the Lenovo aint bad, we had 3 (now 2), for the kids and they were fine for what they use them for.

Another $50 is a 1/3 of the price of the Samsung! But I agree, if that $50 is irrelevant, get the Samsung.
