Qantas currently have Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane to Noumea one way for $249 economy class / $549 business class as part of their "Fly Away Sale". This is similar to the deal I posted back in June.
Flight availability is from the end of Feb 2017, all the way through to end of October 2017. Melbourne departures transit through Sydney, with both Qantas and AirCalin making the flight to Noumea.
As mentioned previously, picking up a business return fare ex Melbourne is the real kicker, and will likely appeal to those looking for status credits in order to retain QF elite status. Flying MEL-SYD-NOU return in business will net you 200 status credits, which is a significant haul for the cost outlay - just be sure to make sure your flights all hold a QF number in order to ensure they are eligible for SC (and points) earn. Edit: thanks to chrisishere for pointing out that you can also fly MEL-BNE-NOU return in business for 240 SCs / $1088.
Potential to use a return business flight for Qantas Gold status challenge
Note that if timed properly, 200 status credits also seems to be the magic number for obtaining QF Gold status through a 'status challenge' - i.e. asking Qantas to match elite status with another airline (such as Virgin or Air New Zealand). Many people have reported being offered a status challenge to Qantas gold if you complete 200 status credits in 90 days. Wow! Never been in a business class before. This might be the time! :) Never heard of the place so googling it apparently it's in New Caledonia. Things to do suggestions??
