Seems arogant that he's claiming ownership to the entire planet.

    • +15

He deserves ownership more than anyone if you ask me!

      • +4

He has more than one. Did you read the title?
        It says "the collection".

        This 'bro collects planets.

  • +2

Not sure if you've seen this…but damn, nature - you crazy.

I hope Zavvi make a steelbook for this version, too!

    • Took years to release the Steel for Planet Earth 1 didn't it? Only just recently came out?

      • Yeah, I guess so, but they do make steelbooks for new releases it seems.

  • +3

Will part 2 be the 4k bluray?

    • +3

It isn't, BBC haven't released their plans for 4K version, so it could be some time.

I bought the original version to take advantage of my new Blu-Ray player and HDTV, I want part 2 for the 4K TV and 4K Blu-Ray player I don't own yet.

      • +2

Planet Earth Part II is the reason for upgrading to 4k which I will do in the next few months.

The xbox one s can play 4k bluray is that correct?

        • +3

certainly does which is something I'm considering. I'm disappointed that the PS4 Pro doesn't pack a 4k Blu-ray - Sony of all companies.

Probably saving it for the PS5 ;)

        • @punk:

Yeah, bummmed me out enough not to buy it. I wonder if PlayStation 4 Pro Slim will have it…

        • Yes it does.

If by July next year its the cheapest method of owning a 4K Blu-Ray player, I'll have XBox One S next to my PlayStation 4.

        • @punk:

They are doing so to sell their own 4K blueray players.

  • +2

    I've watched episode 1 and 2 of season 2.

    Absolutely gorgeous…even in 720p!

  • +2

Hmm how much is just part 2 alone? Cause this seems like a really good price.

EDIT: 20.24 pounds delivered so $4.50ish extra for the original series. hell yeah!

  • Are there foreign subtitles? More specifically; Chinese? I want to get this for my father as he's into nature docos but he's English isn't great.

  • Is this actually on special? Like what are the chances it pops up in Australia at release for cheaper?

    • +9

Next to none lol since when are Aussie BR prices even close to UK/US?

    • +3

JB HiFi are still selling Planet Earth I for $50, so $38 for both is a bargain.

Plus, of course, its going to take an age before Channel Nine actually show it here and it can be released on Blu Ray.

      • Actually OneHD showed the original series (according to wikipedia at least)

        • +1

There was a news story yesterday that said Nine had won the show.

Here you go, at the bottom:

          http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/tv/planet-earth-ii-docu…

Personally I'd say that anything other than ABC or SBS is going to result in it being ripped to shreds by adverts - more reason to get the disks.

        • @sane:
Fair enough. I didnt even realise they had already won rights to it. This is one show that should NOT be disturbed by ads. Currently two away from finishing the first season (can i just say a huge WOW to the team that created this).

    • +1

      Thanks. Ordered :)

  • +1

Oh so this combines 2008's PE and 2016's PE2?
    If so, then bargain!

    • Sure does :)

  • -1

Thanks. I've ordered it. I have the original version on Blu-Ray but it's 6 disc by itself. This version is only 7 discs total. What is missing from this release?

    • Planet Earth II is only 6 episodes, on 2 blu-ray disks by the looks of things.

My copy of the original Planet Earth is 5 BR disks, so it all checks out.

      • Thanks. You're right, mine is only 5 disks too. I must have miscounted this morning.

  • +1

Ordered last night thanks OP - i really am hanging for a 4K announcement for part 2 but for this price for both (considering i dont have part 1) - its a bargain!

  • Thanks OP. Gifts for the kids sorted.

  • +1

Hmm already have part 1, still considering it..

    • You can buy part 2 only for slightly less.

  • Does anybody know what is the total video length for the 1st and 2nd part together?

    • +1

      Rough guess?

      I is 11 episodes
      II is 6 episodes

each is ~50mins a piece, plus 10 mins of 'how was it made'.

      So 850mins + 170mins of 'making of'

  • Just wondering if there will be a 4K release later. It would be stunning

    • Down the track apparently yes

    • That would be the reason for me to get a 4K TV!

  • Because this is from the UK doesn't this mean it won't work on Australia Blu-Ray Players?

    • +1

UK and AU have different DVD regions but same Blu-Ray region. So Blu rays will play fine.
Also, restriction is only when your DVD/Bluray player is region locked.
      All Regions

      Blu Ray region
Region B/2: Europe, Greenland, French territories, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand

DVD: UK is region 2 and AU is region 4. So dont by DVD in case your dvd player is region locked.

  • Thanks OP. Bought one today. Though 2-3 dollars expensive, but worth the price.

  • +1

    Received today.
    Works flawlessly in my PS4.
The picture quality is the best I've ever seen for a 1080p title. 4K would simply be unreal!

    • Nice. Mine's not due to arrive until the 28th :s

      • +1

        Scratch that, arrived today. Sweet!

    • +1

Yeah mine arrived a week ago.
      Picture quality is unbelievable.
I love the fact that the best looking title in my collection is a nature documentary and everything in it is real!
