wow.. that's a good price.. i paid close to that price last year for a 970.. Although i did get the G1 edition.. This is still an amazing price..

  • I'm ready to pull the trigger on a 1070, but I'm not sure this is one of the better cards… It's boosted clock speeds are below other cards out there.

    • You can overclock it yourself. It may perform better than other cards and the cooler looks decent.

      • Yeah okay, I'll try to find a review that talks about how well it OC's. Lots of reviews on the G1 edition, which is different to this.

        • They all OC to about the same. With the pascal cards, most if not all of the cards are limited my voltage rather than thermals. So if you don't really care about the acoustics or aesthetics, just go with the cheapest one you can get your hands on.

        • @Hunga: FWIW this card actually overclocked higher for me than EVGA SC AC 3

The shroud looks … cheap and nasty and it's a massive card so check for case compatibility.

        • @Diji1: Was it by a significant margin?

I really liked the gigabyte cards of last gen, but this gen it looks like they've cheaped out a lot. I remember seeing the cooler of the G1 1070 and it looked sooo damn cheap, so i can't imagine what this one looks like. But to be fair the 1070 runs really damn cool anyway.

        • @Hunga: Nah not a noticeable margin.

And this card looks really, really cheap. Like I was taken aback by how shitty it looks :p

    • Is there a signficant performance difference within 1070s? I remember OCing older gen. cards gave 1-2% at best.

      • More expensive cards may be higher binned chips so they can handle the factory overclock but it generally comes down to the silicon lottery. The cheapest 1070 may overclock and outperform the most expensive 1070. In my opinion it's not worth buying the expensive cards as most non-reference are competent in handling a significantly higher overclock than anything the manufactures offer while still keeping the card cool. If noise is an issue then the higher end cards may be worth it.

Does gigabyte have world wide warenaty though? For me I'm personally waiting for an evga 1070 at a decent price because of the warranty stuff

    • +2

From reports on whirlpool Gigabyte do not have international warranty. Some EVGA 1070 models have a couple of issues, including overheating of a component (and combustion in some cases). If you do get it make sure you update the bios and request thermal pads

    • Was it EVGA or ASUS that was meant to have the top notch customer service / warranty? I remember it being discussed on a previous sale but I lost track!

      • +1

        EVGA

    • No world-wide warranty.

  • Finally a friggin reasonable price for these cards.

  • Jesus christ, I just bought one of these yesterday for 650 in store. This is a fantastic price.

  • this was mentioned here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/274348

also this is relatively a good price when compared to the overpricing of recent months. This is currently priced at the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP)
    Launch Price MSRP: $379 (USD)
other will follow suit. If you buy it at this price you are not getting it for a bargain. you are getting it at retail price.

  • Is it worth waiting for Black Friday?

  • FYI, letting Amazon do the currency conversion today it comes out @
    Items: AUD 522.05
    Shipping & handling: AUD 15.69
    Total before tax: AUD 537.74
Estimated tax to be collected: AUD 0.00
    Order total: AUD 537.74

Like most, I am waiting for a EVGA to go below $500 or at least close

    • Yeah I think I will wait for evga too.

  • Made the plunge and bought this.

ended up being $539 but can complain really mgood price cheapest i could find was 599 at msy otherwise which want in stock.

  • How does one ship this goodness to Australia…
