  • MOD: When you updated my post you changed it to 15". This is a 14" ThinkPad Yoga!

  • Also note that there is a one month lead on delivery.

  • Do you know if Lenovo would have further sales closer to Xmas?

    • As I am not part of Lenovo Australia's inner-circle, I do not know. However, this current deal is quite tempting IMHO.

    Digging that backlit keyboard too. Probably include that in the description

  • Is this i7 6500 the 2-core one?

    • +2

      I think cpus ending in U are all dual cores

      • Thanks. Good to know. Do you know if the "Yoga" line/model is for business? How does this compare to the T460?

        • +3

          The thinkpad yoga looks intended for business, the hinges seem heavy duty, comes with fingerprint scanner for login/biometric security, and the construction feels like better than just plastic (probably carbon/plastic composite).
          It is a little heavier (1.8 instead of 1.7 kg) and not as powerful (no dual channel RAM), and has a slightly worse keyboard, but it has the added benefit of the 360 degree hinge, clever mechanical keyboard flattening/deactivation when folded over, included pressure sensitive stylus and digitiser.
          Unlike the T460, it only has one RAM slot, does not have an alloy rollcage construction, and takes the older DDR3L SO-DIMM, meaning a maximum of 16GB.
          I am presently using a yoga 460 FHD for my daily driver, and had migrated from a T420 which I used since 2011.

        • @pete2: Thank you. Very informative. Can you shed some light on battery performance? Would the Yoga 460 (with touch screen) last as long as the T460 (non-touch).

          I think the X1 has the most battery life in all Lenovo's laptops.

          @sky blu:

          Just wanted to add that it doesn't have Ethernet, which some businesses will require. So you'll have to add a dongle (which the ex-apple fans will tell you is the end of the world).

          Also, stress the keyboard may not be everybody's cup of tea. Being able to support 'stand' mode, means the keys need to be lower than the body. So a slightly more awkward angle to use, and less key travel. Add in the love-it-or-hate-it nipple (IBM/Lenovo Trackpoint), and it can take a little getting used to in the office.

          @sky blu:
          The T460 should have better battery life - particularly if you opt for the larger rear battery.
          I tend to get around 6+ hours battery life with display on 60%. I could comfortably* (i.e. no PWM headache - PWM flicker happens below 45%) use it a bit dimmer, down to 45% for better battery life, but havent really needed to. I havent tried the T460, but imagine it would have better if you go for the larger rear battery (95Wh in total) whilst the Yoga 460 has 53Wh.
          Touch and digitiser probably add some amount of additional consumption, although these are active pen Wacom (the pen radiates, and is charged by the laptop).
          You probably get some idea with the Yoga being quoted "up to-star-" 8hrs battery life with 53Wh, and the T460 quoted as "up to-star-" 10hrs with 46.4Wh in total, with the same sized display and same CPU.

          -star- meaning "you will never see"

        • @pete2: Hi Pete, may I ask how's Yoga 460 build quality compare to T/X series. Cheers.

        • +2

          @jasonchen59:
          I am quite happy with the build quality overall, compared to the T series, however there are a few things that seem cheaper/lower spec:
          - the lack of subframe/alloy rollcage of the T series
          - having to take off the entire base, rather than access doors.
          - I dont think the yoga 460 keyboard has drain pathways like the T series does for coffee spills etc

          That said, the yoga 460 won't look out of place in a corporate office or if brought out in a meeting, the lift and lock keyboard mechanism appears well built, the stowable supercapacitor powered stylus is cool, the HDD and RAM are simple and easy to access, I didnt break any tabs taking the base off, but I imagine this may happen to some who open it up in a hurry.

  • How about this one guys:
    Lenovo Yoga 700 14" 2-in-1 Laptop

    The reviews of this laptop are really average. It's not small, it's not light, it doesn't look very good, the screen is really reflective. It seems to be bettered by a number of other Lenovo laptops he absolutely creamed by the Dell XPS

    • +1

      It's in a completely different market segment to the XPS line - the lenovo is a 14 inch tablet/laptop hybrid with a stylus and is a thinkpad so competes with the dell latitudes. It's sturdy and is at the value end of the range as compared to x or t series. And depending on who you listen to, some XPS models are plagues by coil whine, this is not.

    • +1

      Dell XPS is a different product - it completely misses the mark that this product is aiming for.
      Think of the Thinkpad Yoga 460 as a 14 inch "Lattitude x360" with built in rechargeable stylus, if that ever existed.

  • What more could you want?

    Another $300 off at least for this config would put it in the ballpark of similar previous deals on this laptop.

  • the QHD version was $1111 on 11/11

    • +1

      True, but also i5-6200U, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD.

    I have this laptop. Bought EOFY sale for $1260 (from memory) for same spec as this one with addition of the WQHD screen. Great build quality but hinge is starting to creak (WD40 anyone?). Lid doesn't seem robust as the T series (no subframe to protect LCD panel, ie. when press from behind, LCD distorts). waiting for a T460 deal. maybe when OzB 10y anniversary sale.. PLEASE LENOVO!
