        • Only if you went through the RSS site or looked up PS4 instead of going through the official banner I think

  • +2

Congratz to all who got something! Nice trolling by the site admin near the end

  • +4

I will now ignore click frenzy until the hype-train pulls into time-waste station this time next year. See you guys on platform Out-of-stock?

  • +2

yay i bought a pic of a tv too

    • me too! I think everyone got a TV. LOL.

    • +3

You spent $30 for a pic… that sucks… least i only spent $4 for the ps4 one… this site is a scam. They probably made 100x $30 tv = $3000 which is the cost of 3 TVs

      • if you paid by PayPal, should be able to cancel

      • paypal dispute??

        • +2

thing is in my account on the clickfrenzy store it says TV in the order, not pic or text.
plus got the email confirmation which looked legit

        • @bingsta: yeah same

        • @bingsta: I logged into paypal and clicked on the transaction, had a cancel option. perhaps just me. idk

        • @NitroNinja: so are you gonna cancel? I'm pretty sure i got a scamsung but the paypal and email confirmation look legit…

        • +1

          @bingsta:

Looks like a scam sung, the correct one had a number 8 at the nd

        • @shadowfangz: can we see a pic of a genuine? koalas don't have no 8 so i assume his is a scamsung too?

        • @bingsta:

Clickfrenzy tidied everything up, can't even access account history now.
I don't claim to be one of the lucky ones that got a TV, if you got it via the banner it should be the right one, but alas as with the RSS duds from what I remembered apart from 8, all the other scamsung were just pictures and text

        • @bingsta: What was your order number?

        • @NitroNinja: i think the genuine has no number after "quad" - koalas has no number…

      • They will clearly refund the money. Maybe not the best on-the-spot decision, but hardly a scam. And please let me know where I can buy a Samsung 70 inch UHD for $1000. I'll get 7 :)

  • FYI Order #145X for the PS4, so I would safely guess maybe ~460 prizes in total over the past 2 days?

  • +1

i think I may have bought the scamsung. Will I get charged $30 for text and a pic of a tv?

    • Take them to the ACCC.

  • After I added the TV to cart is was sold out. Doh

  • +1

I wonder if they seriously send you a pic of a ps4 and some text

    • The Paypal transaction doesn't even mention a pic - it actually states the actual product.

  • what page did the tv banner end up being on? i was on that xmas gifts page and the banner never appeared.

    • +1

      The bottom banner for me.

  • +1

They make money by tricking people into buying pics to subsidize the cost of TV and extra PS4s. Someone should bring this to ACCC

  • Invoice of the TV :D http://i.imgur.com/bCqnMV1.png

    • +3

If that is true, then holy moly there would have been at least >100 that bought PS4 pics.

    • +2

Wow you are so lucky! Congrats!

If it does turn out to be one of the dud ones then definitely take them to the ACCC. You have a fully paid invoice for the product so they should honour it. Shame on them for trying to trick people and not being careful about the back end of things.

      • -1

        Thank you! :-)

You're so right about that, but I guess even if they don't send the TV I'm still content cause I won the PS4 and Westfield gift card :P

On my PayPal account it says '[email protected] hasn't accepted yet - Cancel'
I'm guessing they'll be cancelling some orders sooner or later…

        • so i take it you're going to keep your scamsung for now and not cancel?

        • @bingsta:

No, why would I cancel it if its not a test product? lol!

        • @koalafied: oh so you got it thru the banner?

        • @bingsta:

Yeah but I'm hoping they don't cancel it :(

  • -1

yay got samsung 70" tv.. now the question is will it explode?

  • Okay… so apparently I got a TV… But wont believe it till I see it! Order no. #1656 ?!

    • Sure it's not a picture of a TV dummy product?

      • How do you tell the difference..? haha!

        • Go to your browser history. IF the URL has 70-text in it, it's a fake. The correct URL was products/70tvss or something like that.

  • +2

Firstly for all who bought a pic of a TV - haha. I laugh with you, not at you. My brother did the same thing.

The good news is that Shopify, the platform of the store, allows Click Frenzy to reverse credit card payments. Their PayPal payments are all pending CF's acceptance as well. So I think CF will do the right thing and return monies to you.

    • And then they will probably be on aca tomorrow lol

      • +1

Someone has made a fb page already and sent photos and text to 7 NEWS messenger lol

    • How do you know if what you bought is a pic or the real thing?

      • Go to your browser history and the initial page where you add to checkout. IF the URL has 70-text in it, it's a fake. The correct URL was products/70tvss or something like that.

        • Oh I actually got the 55 inch, but I got it on another computer so I would have lost the URL page… Was this scam running earlier in the day?

        • @krazek:

No. Just from the Nutribullet. For the Nutribullet you would have been asked to pay $100. For the PS4 and 70 inch, there were about 10 dummy products to prevent people from gaming the /all.atom RSS feed.

        • @oodian:

Right gotcha, thanks for the info!

        • Yeah I went from https://www.clickfrenzystore.com/products/70tsv?variant=xxxx… to checkout - I still don't believe it though. Time will tell.

        • @digitalterrorist:

You have yourself a TV sir! Well played.

        • @oodian:
But I don't need a TV! I need an PS4 or xbox to replace my unused ps3. haha. #1stworldproblems

        • @digitalterrorist:

I got an xbox, wanna trade?

        • -1

          @oodian:
nice try! ;) First we'll see if they even honour the two orders # I have. I suspect they screwed up with the inventory levels with all the "fake" listings they put on there.

  • one day of dream is gone. their site is also gone. bye for now.

COUNTDOWN TO CLICK FRENZY MAYHEM 2017
    151 days-00 hrs—49 min

Upgrade your internet now to avoid disappointment…

  • So Click Frenzy has created FALSE products with a FALSE inventory level for the sole purpose of MISLEADING potential buyers. It appears to be an obvious breach of the Trade Practices Act

    • +1

No, if you followed their rules, you wouldnt be able to access the dummy products. It was only those trying to get a few seconds advantage by exploiting a loophole in the shopping platform they used for the sale.

      • -1

There was multiple ways to access the FAKE products, such as using the search feature on the website. So anybody could have legitimately purchased one of the fake products thinking it was real. Likewise the only way you could actually buy one of these FAKE products was for Click Frenzy to falsify the inventory level. There is clear deception at play

        • Sure but those ways were not the prescribed means of reaching the product. You had to be on certain category pages and look for the banners. The descriptions on the dummies were also clear. Look up some of those cases of eBay sellers selling pictures of iPhones etc.

It's just the nature of these things. Some will win, some won't.

        • Both the website and the FAKE products were publicly accessible, meaning they could be accessed in multiply ways and not just 1 prescribed way. The act of creating FALSE products with FALSE inventory levels for the sole purpose of confusing / misleading people appears to be a clear breach of the Trade Practices Act. It was a very poor tactic used by Click Frenzy in an attempt to over come a poorly thought out and run campaign. They've just ended up digging a deeper hole for themselves and further damaging their reputation

        • +2

@AY: I agree they went the wrong way about it, they never should have enabled people to purchase fake products and should have just linked them to sold out pages. But at the end of they day they were attempting to prevent people from gaming the system, by the looks of things if they didn't put this measure in place then nobody would have been able to make a purchase through the banners as all the RSS feeders would have got the items first. Hopefully next year they can come up with a system that ensures it's an equal playing field and everyone must follow the terms laid out by CF.

  • Just received my confirmation emails from reclick frenzy for the ps4 and the tv 😀

    • You got both? Definitely bought dummy products lol

      • +1

Well I've had much worse than a dummy for $34 I'll be happy to see one way or the other

  • On reflection they whole thing felt like a game of chance. Everyone knew there was only a handful of each. Would they need to apply for a permit in each state for running a competition. Has anyone seen in their T&Cs if they had obtained permits?

  • +9

And Click Frenzy is over for another year. To those who got one or a few items, hope you enjoy them and to those who were unlucky, we all have felt your pain at some stage over the past 24 hours narrowly missing out on getting an item or facing that dreaded 'Condition Not Met' message.

However, lets be frank for a minute. What I'm about to say is directed towards the people who organized or are behind this promotion and have read and/or are reading this thread - this promotion was at the very least was badly implemented, if not badly thought out. Sure, you got people (including most of OzBargain) refreshing your website for a good part of the past 24 hours which is good for the advertisers and for Click Frenzy due to the Google advertising payout. However, the negative PR this promotion has caused isn't good and the fallout (eg; people accidentally buying the fake items, ACCC complaints) won't help the 'damaged' repudiation Click Frenzy still has with some people going all the way back to the launch night in 2012.

It's not hard to go through the #clickfrenzy hashtag on Twitter or the visitor comments posted on your Facebook page to see that many, many, many people are either annoyed or quite angry that they've tried to be part of this promotion only to get nothing even though they (like most of us) clicked the banners as soon as they saw them. If we're being honest, this promotion should have never got to the stage where we saw what happened this afternoon with the 'cat and mouse game' between users here posting various 'loopholes' to learn when the items are available and your webmasters posting fake items to mess with the RSS feed or the other methods posted. A well-organised promotion wouldn't have to go to such lengths to deny people being part of it because it would provide everyone who wants to be part of it a fair and equal opportunity to do so which this one didn't.

I hope that you (the person who is reading this) and Click Frenzy will assess how this promotion went and be honest & frank about what it got right and what it could have done better so if a promotion is run in years to come, it won't leave a 'sour taste' for many people. Here's a free suggestion if you want to run this banner promotion again - have it so that the banner is up for a few minutes each time and people enter their details to go into a draw to have the opportunity to buy [Product A] at 99% (as an example) off. That way you still get people staying on the website but you don't have people disappointed because they clicked it 0.8 secs after it posted only to be told the item is sold out. In fact, you'll give people a nice surprise when they found out they won the draw and can buy the item they want at a great price - it's good PR for you and the customer gets something they want!

    • The customer gets nothing but disappointment when they find out they didn't win the draw .-.

      • True but the very nature of most promotions means not everyone can benefit from them. The disappointment evident in the past 24 hours through comments on this site and Facebook/Twitter is due to people unsuccessfully trying to buy items only to be told stock has run out. At least with my idea, the disappointment would be akin to missing out on winning a competition (which essentially it would be)

        • +3

I agree with you on that. Click Frenzy breached their own T&C by displaying the ad banner on the page for 5 minutes after the item went out of stock.

On the T&C they started that the banner would be removed once the item is out of stock, so people saw the banner and assumed that they would be able to checkout just because the item was in the cart. Plus most people didn't know that they had to register to clickfrenzy store prior to adding item to cart. It just makes the process even longer during checkout having to fill in details and credit card info if not paying by PayPal etc.

I give them props for keeping the server alive despite having thousands & thousands of people online at the same time, it could've turned out like another catch of the day event but I'm glad it didn't because at least people got the chance to checkout lol

    • +1

Well put @JeffreyM - all this promotion needed was to increase the difficulty of the treasure hunt. With two banners at the top and bottom of the page, it was always going to be a mad rush and how fast you can click. There were lots of deals dispersed throughout the page - it would have been very easy to add another "Deal" somewhere among these. People would have actually needed to take some time to find these and you would have more than 4-5 seconds to get the item.

    • Wholeheartedly agree with your comment.

    • +4

Good comment - For Click Frenzy, one thing to add that was incredibly frustrating were the errors that kept happening. I know you absolve yourselves of this in the T&Cs, but being able to add items to cart when you click on the banner straight away and then have errors such as the "conditions not met" or the item sold out and then removed from the cart was frustrating. The same can be said for the 404 errors that occurred when the banners first went up, but the page wasn't live properly yet. I know they absolve themselves of technical issues, but when you're playing the game by the rules and treating it as the competition it is, basic errors like that are incredibly frustrating.

Most every website works on the premise that once an item is in the cart it is "held" for payment. Whilst I guess you did it this way so that people had that few extra seconds of hope before hitting the "sold out" page, it goes against people's basic expectations of what to expect when online shopping. Given that Click Frenzy is billed as Australia's largest online shopping event, similar to Cyber Monday in the US, then you are purposefully creating and aligning yourself with this norm. Don't pass off people's frustrations over this, it is genuine and you have been misleading. Most everyone here on Ozbargain is pretty savvy and knew from the outset that the items would be fairly limited, but even so we expected a fighting chance.

PS: I have a Google side bar ad right next to me in this post advertising Click Frenzy's PS4 $4 deal. Sure, conditions apply. But when you advertise as if this whole thing was a sale (which would require reasonable quantities) and not a competition based on skill and to a certain extent luck, then ads like that are misleading. Click Frenzy people, you probably don't care about any of this. But I hope you listen for next time.

      • Just to be clear once you add to cart and checkout, you have 5 minutes to enter payment information: https://help.shopify.com/manual/products/inventory/why-does-…

The trick was adding to cart and proceeding to checkout…

        • +1

Thanks for clarifying that! I guess what I meant was the ability to add to cart and immediately hit checkout, only to hit the sold out page. That second of page transition meant you had theoretically been quick enough to click "add" when there was stock, only for there to be none one second later. I almost always got the "conditions not met" error when trying to checkout.

    • +1

I honestly am agreed with you in most parts but not the part that how they should manage the promotion.
I personally do not like that i have to waste my whole day just to see if im lucky enough to get the promotions but they definitely should not make it like a prize or a pool. what they need to do is show there are for example 20 items available and when they are being purchased they can be gone in front of us. we all know they have maybe only 1 70" samsung tv for whole australia so you want them to make it as a draw for like 2million people? or if they even do what should they do to prove you they have gave it to anyone? i my self wont even enter the draw as there are enough none seance draws on the web.
about the way they should do it i believe they way that COTD does is the best way. they have a certain time for the deal to be alive. you can do it on a mobile app or on desktop there is no loopholes about it. it will be live at this moment for everyone. also they wont waste so much time of people.

I have bought the 6AM PS4 new look one this morning and yesterday the apple tv 4. i am 100% sure they have like 100 apple tv for min 1million online users or 1tv for them. if im good at computer and know whow to use it fast enough i can get what i can. if yo cant you are out of the game.

  • Hey all, new to ozbargain and ive been trying all day to win something but always missed out (by the skin of my teeth it felt like).

I finally got lucky and won the 70" tv which is all paid for. Got the confirmation email and says i should have it before christmas.

But what is the "quad core" thing mean on this tv? And more importantly what is the number after it? Some say 2, 10 and others. Are these all legit and why are the numbers different?

    Thanks all

    • Did you get it from the banner?
Think the TVs with any number other than 8 is a fake.

    • How did you get to the product page? By a banner or through the RSS feed? If the RSS feed, then you mot likely purchased a dummy product.

    • pretty sure if yours says quad core 8 it is a real one, any other number is one from the fake pages

  • +1

    Mine has quad core 10

    • scamsung…question is do you wait for them to cancel or do you cancel? given you have an invoice for a tv not a pic / text…

      • I was wondering the same thing actually, since the order is for a tv and not text, says no where in the order it is text

        • Me too I got quad core 10 with order number #155x

  • got a confirmation meail from clickfrenzy, I hope its legit:

Surely people know if they clicked via the banner or through 'other means'? Why the need to speculate if you got the TV or not? Go through the right processes, get the reward. Attempt to cheat they system, get nothing. Simples?

    Guys, my paypal receipt says
email address of the recepient is unverified, which should not be if its a legit business.. i have my doubts now.. lets see.. I am glad I used paypal and not my credit card

  • I didnt cheat. I knew about the banner for some of the items (ps4, drone and Westfield card) but didnt know about the tv. Click frenzy only had under an hour to go so i just searched samsung tv, found 70" for $30 and bought it.

It was just like browsing any online store. Didnt mention anything about a pic or text, it stated it was a real product. I paid, got an invoice, order number, confirmatiom email…the works. Everything seems 100% legit and id be angry if it wasn't. But I doubt if ill ever see it.

Lucky i paid via paypal so can raise a dispute if need be. Although i can still cancel my order through paypal if need be.

    • I too used paypal and everything looked legit. Looks like I can cancel the order as well on my paypal for both the ps4 and the TV… Was the email of the recipient gxxxx(at)clickfrenzy.com.au?

      • Yep thats the email i have. And i can cancel too.

    • +1

It did actually mention it if you go back to listing and have another look (if still available). It's said tongue in cheek. I looked at them as well. I think all fake ones (roughly 10) had unlimited claims as well, so it would be hugely unfair if they honoured them. Especially as most would have realised they were fake and didn't try and make a claim.

I have no problems with people using the feed or search or whatever as they were made available, and I think if they cancelled orders coming from these legit although unspecified sources there would be grounds for annoyance and demands to honor prizes. But the steps to win WERE clearly listed. If you deviate from the steps and make a mistake or misunderstand something, that's on you and that's the risk you are willingly taking.

EDIT: they will clearly refund the cost for the fake items, nothing to worry about

      • +3

"But the steps to win WERE clearly listed" - this wasn't a competition that people won, this was a limited time sale of highly discounted products that was publicly accessible via various means (banner ad, product search, RSS feed, etc). Click Frenzy deliberately created fake products to confuse those that weren't using the banner ads - this appears to be an action that is false and/or misleading and therefore possibly breaches the Trade Practices Act

  • How many of you guys got the PS4 this morning at 6:03? Just wondering :o

    • +1

damn, was it at 6:03? Mustve missed it. Woke up at 5:55 and started refreshing until 6:30, gave up and went back to sleep aha
