  • i was looking at that, is that good?

    • +1

Very good for the price, especially with a FHD display and 4GB RAM. Nice to have Android available as an option if needed also.

    • +1

Z8300 needs 4gb to run well in my experience…and this is cheap for a 4gb model. Will decode x265 and play a few old games well. Nice find.

Here's a review of the Hi10 Pro, which is nearly the same, but with USB-C:

    http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/review/cheap-tablets/windows-10-l…

    • Pro have stylus support too. I don't think this one have.

  • good find Clear

    • +1

Will we be seeing it cheaper at a certain website soon? ;)

      • Good question..

        • +3

That cashback will be hard to beat.

        • Maybe a deal on keyboard + tablet combo??

      • +1

        Which website?

        • +2

monty.melb posts a lot of deals for Gearbest, so I'm guessing Gearbest

  • what time does it start?

    • Says in the post. After 7:01pm.

      • 4pm in W.A.

      • +1

        Thanks.

it takes 23-45 days to deliver!! Nearly 2 months!!!!!!!@@

        • +3

          It's China. That's very normal.

        • +1

Most stuff ive got from ali has been with 2 weeks delivery, anything put in within a week from now you will have before christmas unless the seller is a slob/scam

  • +1

Does this come with the keyboard? I got a Hibook Pro and had to purchase one separately.

    • "Bundle B"
scroll down. expect to pay more.

      • Ah there! was thinking of buying one as a gift.
        Thanks.

      • It's actually bundle C you have to take not B.

It changes the price but the 11.11 SALE price remains the same?

        • Price is for the tablet itself. The bundles will likely have their own price.

  • +1

Are there any cheap Chinese tablets that support pressure sensitive pen input for note taking?

    • +2

Yes. I've tested the chuwi hi10 pro pen and it's quite good for the price. Sub $300. The pressure sensitivity is, well it doesn't work the best. Palm rejection is mostly reliable. DO NOT EXPECT WACOM QUALITY.

      • That costs more than the tablet itself. Sheesh.

        • +1

Hi10 Pro is a different tablet.

        • @elusive: It is, but it's still using the same internals, so it is in the same class. It's not going to rival a 2-in-1 from Dell, MS, or Samsung. It's using the same Atom as this tablet…

How about Gearbest, if you want express shipping, seems better to buy with Gearbest?

    • GB looks like A$215ish, Ali looks like A$160ish with coupons and cashback.

  • I was looking at the HiBook Pro, and Chuwi decided to put an USB 2 type C port in it….

  • +6

I would highly advise against buying this. The tablet is pretty heavy, and the build quality is not great. The metal frame has already started warping/coming away. and bent where it connected to the keyboard.

Also mine came installed with Remix OS, which had not been tested at all, and there is absolutely zero technical support from CHUWI. http://forum.chuwi.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2443

    • +1

I am looking surfacebook vs Chuwi..lol!!

    • (sorry mine is Vi10, but basically the same)

      • I don't know, but i was planning to buy surfacebook until i see this…

Should I put this $200 to surfacebook/better tablet or buy this for fun!

    • Not falling for that one mate. Just ordered five. evil laugh

  • +1

With android auto soon to be standalone for phones and tablets running 5.1 and up, how viable would that be to use as a dash mounted infotainment system?

  • +3

From personal experience this class of CPU is too slow to run Windows 10 which is a very heavy OS. Any complex webpages or more than a couple of tabs and they bog down. Single tasking OK ish. Running Android they are fine.

    • +1

Yup. On w10 Chrome is laggy as hell, YouTube on chrome has a response time of seconds. Edge Is fine though, runs as smooth if not better than chrome on android.

      • Not surprised. Chrome is a very resource intensive browser.

      • I have an old Z3735 tablet that works pretty well. Running Firefox, heavy page loads can take a while but browsing is mostly fine.

    • I can concur with your experience. You get frequent random lags even when not doing anything.

It sucks for playing video also.

Works smooth as butter in Android mode though.

      • I also concur. I boot up mostly in Android because of the lag

  • +1

Seems you can choose any of the 5 packages and it doesn't change the sale price.

    • Need to pick the color as well.

      • I did.

The price changes, but the "Sale" price remained the same.

That was pre-sale though, and just misleading. The price does accurately change depending on bundle.

  • Looking at this CPU specs its okay but i would have thought Intel would have done better by now. This CPU only just competing with a first gen I3 but it does use a lot less power. You get a plus one OP i have read many great things about these tablets and this price is cheap :D

    • Intel pulled out of mobile SoC market. This is an old SoC. It's the last they've made, and the last they'll ever make (they also have Z8500 but it's less popular). They got destroyed by ARM processors.

So every Chinese tablet is going to be using this same SoC until it's too dated to use again and then they go back to using ARM, and drop Windows 10.

If you're buying this expecting a smooth Windows experience like with Surface Pro, you can forget all about it.

      • Intel pulled out of mobile SoC market.

That was a rumour. It was several SoC in their Sofia line that was discontinued. Since then they've released updated chips like the x5-Z8350.

        • These are still Cherry Trail aren't they? They will continue making them, but not developing anything new.

From Intel’s statement on the matter:

I can confirm that the changes included canceling the Broxton platform as well as SoFIA 3GX, SoFIA LTE and SoFIA LTE2 commercial platforms to enable us to move resources to products that deliver higher returns and advance our strategy. These changes are effective immediately.

Intel Pulls Out Of The Mobile Market By Axing Its Atom Lineup

Intel Kills Future Low-End Mobile Chips But Not Getting Out of Mobile

        • @lostn: Yes still Cherry Trail. Changes are minimal like better heat management and slightly faster clock speeds.

        • @Clear: We're not going to get the next gen architecture after Cherry Trail, like they normally do every year. So for Atom we are more or less stuck with Cherry Trail variants forever.

They aren't going to engineer any new gen Atoms. For "mobile" they're going to focus on modems and Core M which is not something you're going to find on a smartphone or a Chinese $200 tablet. It would be for real 2-in-1s like Surface, XPS12, or Tab Pro S. This isn't quite as low power as Atom.

Basically, don't expect a Chuwi tablet using anything newer than Cherry Trail. I'm actually surprised Chuwi are still making these. They aren't adequate for W10, and that's not going to change in future revisions of the hardware.

        • @lostn: For a company that has made such great progress with there desktops CPUs they gave up easy enough. performance wise they where not losing to ARM its more size and power for some reason they couldn't compete.I guess they have the luxury of being the only competitive desktop CPU maker in the world right now.

Also you have the variants by Nvidia and maybe AMDs new line.

        • @aussieprepper: Intel's profits had taken massive dips after entering the mobile market. By massive I'm talking 80%+. They spent billions on these, and paid billions more to get OEMs to actually use their chips. They also subsidized the chips.

It's basically like a startup trying to compete with Apple.

They thought with their status as desktop CPU giant, they could muscle their way into the mobile market, and realized they bit off more than they could chew. They wisely pulled out. They're still making Cherry Trails but are no longer trying to be competitive.

      • In the $400 range there's now Core M, which is a good step above Atom.

        • It is, but I don't think you'll find it in a Chuwi or Teclast sub $200 el-cheapo tablet.

        • Some good Refurb Core M Dell tablets on ebay recently i got one for just over $400 AUD

        • @lostn:
Of course not but neither would you find a new core m tablet for $400 from asus or toshiba etc. The attractiveness of these cheap chinese tablets is they're cheap. The problem with these tablets is 90% related to QC issues. Some people roll the dice and get a decent bargain.

        • @bangmango: They're cheaper than Laptops but they're in a price bracket above the tablets Intel are used to selling their Atoms in. The companies like Teclast only make them because they can do it cheap. I don't think Teclast can compete in the M3/M5/M7 bracket of the market. They found their niche at low end.

You're going to find these Core M in entry model 2-in-1s like Surface Pro, but then they will be viewed as a poor man's i5/i7 SP since they are still found in the same range of product.

There's no denying that Intel are going to lose a lot of market share in mobile, not that they had much to begin with.

  • If I use a $5 coupon from a new account i created am I still eligible for cashrewards? thanks

    • According to Cashrewards

If you use a coupon code that is not listed on this site, rewards may not be payable.

    • Is it in the form of a coupon code or store credit?

  • The tablet on its own would appear to no longer be available.

    • Can you try again? I was able to get to the Buy Now confirmation screen.

      • Yes something has changed - I can now select the tablet only package again (it was greyed out when I tried earlier).

        Thanks for double checking.

  • Contemplating between this and the Jumper EzPad 5SE, anyone know which may be a better option? Considering the fact that I will need the keyboard dock anyways…

    • I have purchased the Jumper EzPad 5SE, I found there was a lot of backlight bleeding on the screen when it first starts up, touchpad on the keyboard dock was not a smooth operation as you would expect, and USB 3 port on tablet did not recognise my Sandisk CZ80 flash drive, USB 2 port did.

  • I ordered the Jumper EZpad 5SE last night as the reviews seems to show its not too bad. Note there is a difference between the 5S and the 5SE http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/jumper-ezpad-5se/

    • That thing looks almost exactly like a SP4. Wow.

  • Got this tablet with docking keyboard earlier this year.

Built quality is average but the docking keyboard is pretty crappy. Very flimsy! just cant compare to Asus transformer's docking keyboard.

    • And they want $60 USD for the keyboard.
