  • I just logged in to share what I bought in case others had some available in their area. I did pick up for a WA store.
I had the same frustration as someone else with different qualities of stock but seems now even though I ordered they cannot fulfill my order.

We will refund the amount listed below automatically. (Please be aware this can take between 1-4 business days).
    Our deepest apologies.
    The EB Games Team.

Seems to be a common theme.

    • Yep, me too…their stocklist is significantly out of date.

  • +2

I've just come back from my local store with some $1 clearance items.

The employee I spoke to told me a lot of online clearance items get cancelled simply because they can't find the cases for the game discs. They likely will still have the items in stock in the shops but may be missing cases or manuals, or are shop-worn. The shops have no way of contacting online order customers so they'd rather cancel than disappoint a customer that receives their order to find half of them missing bits.

From experience it's also a good idea to give the shops a call to check if they definitely have stock, and get them to hold for you if possible.

  • +2

2 of 3 items were cancelled and the remaining item shipped, have asked EB to cancel and refund the 3rd item in full + shipping - wouldn't have put an order in if only one item was available. Feel like I've been baited and switched!

  • Some of my orders got send (ordered Thursday night late) other ones that are now unavailable in the online store are still set as "processed". Hope they actually send them or I wouldn't have made the order to begin with..

  • Not much left at any of the stores near me.. closest store for anything I want is 1000km away lol
Too bad they don't let you buy online with most of the stuff..
Good deal anyways.. just need to be quick.

  • Bummer, I live in metro Sydney and want to have them posted - but the postage is robbery! For 11 items they want to charge me $46 postage, no thank you.

    • When did you order? It only cost me $6.95 for 10 items to Sydney and they are individually shipped from different locations all over Australia so for me its the other way around, since they will definitely be losing a lot of money from the postage. I wonder if they fixed it now when they realised it wasn't a good idea to have a sale where items need to be sent from different places.

      • Yeah, I got a bunch of stuff sent to me individually from different stores all over Australia, only for $5. That wouldn't have been sustainable long term. Good that they honoured the orders though.

  • +4

I received a few of the games today and was a bit miserable to find that all the cases are opened and/or non-original (trade n save with a blank blue/purple/green boxes) and contain torn manuals. The manuals even have EB barcodes on them, which is just weird.

    Example: http://imgur.com/bltnbBd

However the keys activate fine on Steam (the ones I have tried so far).

They were advertised as new and I wanted to use a fair few as gifts or for shelf space fillers and I can't really use them for those purposes.

    • +2

Just wanted to post this. Received Child of Light special edition and the The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Aldmeri Dominion Edition (which is just a steelcase). Both of the versions are damaged, the whole reason I ordered them was because they where special editions but the box on Child of Light is torn and the Elder Scrolls online steelcase seems like someone hit it with a pen on the top, has all these small dents.

If I was just looking for the game itself it would have been fine… but then I also wouldn't have ordered through EBGames!

Still waiting fora couple more items but not having any high hopes that these will be any better.

      • Received another lot today. Still the same opened cases and all damaged in some way.

I'm getting them delivered 1 at a time also. As I have ordered about 40 items, and Star Track doesn't even bother ringing the bell and they just put the collect the item at the post office card in my mailbox, I have to make multiple trips to the post office per day.

This is a real cluster f***. I'm going to ask for a whole refund from EB games and put in a PayPal claim after taking multiple photos of the staggered deliveries (order form said 2 deliveries, not 40 separate ones) and all the items are not in new condition (as they were advertised).

Screw EB games, what was supposed to be a bargain for us became the bargain for them to offload damaged stock.

        • I got the same as you.
          Ordered like 5 games
2 were out of stock after taking my money
all 3 games were mailed out separately
They definately look like pre-owned games

        • It feels like I'm stepping 10 years back in time when ordering from EBGames..

Having 40 packages send it a proper pain though.. mine are all send to my office luckily. Ordered Dishonered as well and that one came sealed so it's not all complete sh*t.

Received Batman Arkham Asylum. The manual/Product code they sent me was for Arkham City however- which I already own
Also bought The Wolf Among Us - Did not come with a product code at all. Should it?

    • Just received Wolf Among Us with no code either.

Just installed it and it plays fine without a CD key.

  • So received my one game, Dungeon Travellers 2 for PS Vita - AU case but the game cartridge inside is the EU version with PEGI rating and some French wording! This is madness!

    • +1

Not madness, that's what we get in Aus. I don't know if this is your first ever physical Vita game, but there is no Australian version cartridge (or at least I haven't seen one with AU ratings on the cartridge). My JB HI FI copy of Dungeon Travellers 2 is the same as yours, as are all my other games which I purchased from different Aus retailers, all come with EU ratings and some french wording.

      • Ah, that's very interesting to know. I usually buy my Vita games from the UK and this is the first time I've bought locally.

  • I guess I won't be buying stuff online at ebgames anymore since they lie

  • +1

To be fair every time I have ordered online previously with EB games it's always been very quick and very good because they have always shipped from their warehouse in QLD. My understanding speaking with them is that they have only just trialled this new system where they will ask individual stores to ship any item if the warehouse has no stock. So that means a lot of items that were just laying there collecting dust in regional stores became available. Because a lot of that cheap stuff is on clearance there was almost no chance it would have been shipped from the warehouse so individual stores have had to put up with sending that one item that you ordered from a large list. Even then a lot would be stock that have missing cases or damaged packaging (hence why they never sold in the first place at that store). The website would have no idea the condition of the goods only that it's listed as "new". The guy at the store probably don't care since all he has to do is send it. I'm not too concerned about the quality of the packaging or manual myself since I'm just grateful to be given access to some games that I would never have been able to pick up if I had to drive into regional areas to get them and at such low prices and I just want to play them. I think they will think twice now rather than to continue to implement the send direct from the store model, since there seems to be complaints both from customers and store staff that have been swamped with single orders. Anyways I've received 4 of my 10 so far and the rest I have been told will be sent later when stores get enough boxes to send them. Only paid 6.95 for postage so I can't complain (also why I would think they gonna stop this since it would cost them a fortune with individual items from different stores).

    • I don't think they should have had the sale at all.

These are damaged stock and should have been advertised as such, or written off.

All the games I ordered would be around the same price if I just bought the CD keys. I paid extra because I wanted the packaging so I could use them for shelf filling space in my media room, or as gifts. A few of the games I already own CD keys for, but wanted the box/manual for collecting and I don't get that now.

I've requested a full refund from EB even after receiving 4 of my 20 so far as they were not as advertised. I am happy to return them to EB provided they send me a return paid post package, but I am not going out of my way to return them to a store.

I'm scared to see the condition of the game guides. I haven't received any of those but after seeing the games - it's pretty much guaranteed that the guides are going to be gnarly.

      • Fair enough, I guess I had different expectations since I had purchased a few of these cheap games previously from EB that have been posted here several times in the past, so I knew what to expect in terms of their condition. You have every right to have these refunded though as they are not in the condition that you expect them to be. Have you tried contacting them on the phone yet to see if you can get them to refund you? Also I'd suggest you cancel the rest of those orders if you can to spare you from having to collect them at the Post office. I've seen the game guides in the stores and I can tell you if you are expecting pristine sealed copies, I wouldn't count on it. I went to EB once to pick up a collect order for a game guide, went through 5 copies all had some sort of damage on it (dents, creases, scratches etc), I did end up getting a reasonable copy since it only cost like $1.

  • I got sent an empty case and the other one is an expansion pack, not a game. Will call them first before going to paypal dispute

  • Had a few items cancelled "It seems the team couldn't find all your item(s). They searched high and low, but zip." But then when you look online some stores do show stock and the item has pick up only. Yet all the items I have received have come from different stores based of the different parcels and receipts for each item.

Are there only certain stores then that are part of the online delivery network and other stores that do not post at all then?

  • +1

I got a refund in full.

Yesterday I sent a support ticket explaining how I received damage stock for the first few and wanted a refund. I didn't get a reply to it, but I did wake up to a full refund message from PayPal.

In an awkward series of events the courier did actually ring the bell today and attempted to get the manager to sign for it - however the normal manager must be having a sick day and isn't there (but the card to pick up the packages was on the front desk).

I'm not going to pick them up, hopefully they get return posted to EB and the staff gets to keep them (pls don't onsell them EB unless you specifically state 'damaged goods' in the description).

All in all I'll be a bit more skeptical about firesales from EB online, but I wouldn't say this was a bad experience, just an inconvenience in the hunt for great bargains.

  • This sale was not done well as i can relate to everyones annoyance. I ordered around 15 items with 5 of them canceled after they had sent a majority of items giving a low chance trying to cancel the order.

Had no idea that items would be sent separately through startrack; who are lazy in my area sometimes and do not deliver, so had to pick up 10 separate oversized bulky parcels from my local post office. Seriously boxes 5x the size of the item inside. Some items from the same store sent at the same time were still sent in different boxes. Some items appeared store worn/damaged, which is not good for art books.

Today received an extra package with a duplicate $4 item and an empty box for a $57 mouse i did not order which i think they may of used for padding but that just makes it more confusing. Yep this sale was a mess but i admit some good deals if you could get them and ignore the major annoyances.
