Uncle Toby's Vita Brits 1kg $2.29 (Was $5.05) @ Coles

620

Good special on Vita Brits 1kg, less than half price at $2.29 for 1kg (was $5.05). Noticed these weren't in the catalogue.

These come in at $0.23/100g, vs ALDI 'Wheat Biscuits $0.28/100g, vs Weet Bix $0.31/100g when on 1/2 price special or $0.33/100g for the 1.2kg currently at Woolworths. Depending on which you prefer.

  • I managed to find out that these were on half price special but I really wish Coles would list them in the catalogue. They've been instore specails several times before and it's really annoying. I normally don't go in the cereal aisle and it was only through a flybuys email that I picked up they were on special.

I think the normal retail price has increased. The price I've been paying at half price has been aorund $2.25 in the last year.

  • Do these taste better than Weetbix? I've never tried this VitaBrits before.

      It's a preference issue not a better/worse issue.

Vita Brits have more salt, Weebix has more sugar.

I used to like Vita Brits then swapped to the Aldi Wheat Biscuits. I realised later that the taste of the Aldi product was similar to Weet Bix. I like the Aldi Wheat Biscuits better now or the Coles Wheat Biscuits. As a child I didn't like Weet Bix. As an adult, I tried going back to Vita Brits but couldn't eat them. I'd end up adding much more sugar than if I'd had the Weetbix or Wheat Biscuits.

My partner is cutting down on sugar and can handle the extra salt. That's why I'm always looking out for the half price specials on Vita Brits. I'm happy with a generic brand but I won't buy a major brand at full price. It has to be half price to be competitive to the generics.

      • I put tahini and a pinch salt on my wheat bix. I get a good brand called NSM thats more liquified than pasty and sells for $10/1kg, i put it on so much stuff, including my daily coles or aldi wheat biscuits. Gives it more of a nutty less bland type of taste

I personally think Vita Brits are superior, they retain slightly more texture and don't go soggy quite as quickly.

    • From what I've tasted:
I think the Weetbix are more buttery and sweet.
The VitaBrits are crumbly and bland.
The coles branded are sweet and crumbly.
The woolworths are crumbly and bland, pretty similar to these.

      • Woolworths home brand are the worst ones imo, there's something nqr about them

        • Woolworths ones used to be sweet but then they changed supplier.
