Cancel any time. Looks like it would be a great service for heavy readers. Only downside i see is that you will never own these books, and you wouldn't be able to revisit books you've already read unless the subscription is active.

Unfortunately its not the entire kindle library, but 1 million books should cover all the good ones.

  • You beat my by 2min :) I know that is a long time.

  • Thank you for posting. My mother will be best pleased as she is running out of new books!

Maybe hang on until the 19th a rumour according to Gizmodo is that prime maybe coming here, not much more per month and includes books, mags, videos etc.
Not as many books but a quick flick through SciFi didn't look too bad and videos look promising assuming they all come here.

  • Lots of popular books and authors not in it. If I subscribe to Kindle Unlimited (which should really be called Kindle Limited) do I get a discount on other titles?

  • I made a list of 10 books I want to read and checked if any of them were available on Unlimited. 1/10. Hmm.

If I want summaries/opinions/tributes on those books then there's plenty of self published "books" for that.

Most of the books available on kindle unlimited are self-published through amazon's self-publishing platform. They also retail for between 0.99-4.99 USD. Blockbuster titles and latest releases don't often appear on unlimited. Keep this in mind when considering whether it's right for you!

  • I got access via a Prime subscription (main difference is limited to one booking at a time, instead of up to 10 with Kindle Unlimited), and wasn't impressed. The selection of books is pretty poor, mainly self-published drivel that's available cheap anyway (only 40,000 of the 1.4 million books aren't Kindle Exclusives).

It's also more expensive than Prime (which includes a good TV and movie selection, nothing on par with Netflix, but still pretty decent).

For those intersted in the difference between what you get with Prime, vs Kindle Unlimited, see this page:

      • 1 book a month would kill primes usefulness for me as I read 3 or 4 a week quite often :(

        • Still worth checking out the available titles via the trial first then. I struggled to find much I was interested in.
