  • Can this be optioned with 32gb ram, win pro and a bigger main ssd?

    • 64gb max, windows 10 pro upgrade through windows apps store, yes ssd can be upgrade

      • hey OP, just wondering if you could tell us how much certain upgrades are? eg the extra RAM.
Is a 4k option available at all? If so, how much extra? Thankyou

        • just saw you are not associated with the company. Sorry.

  • i guess they are clearing out stock for the 1070M and 1080M laptops

  • I'm currently in the market for something very similar to this. Only thing stopping me from jumping on this deal is the weight of this beast. 3.5Kg! Ouch. Although others might not care about portability.

  • Also looking for a beefy/powerful laptop under $2k for photo/video editing on location and while traveling. If there was a 2K or 4K IPS screen version instead of the FHD screen then would be perfect. Most of the i7 deals popping up only have a dual core 6500U or lower.

    • I have recently ordered a Metabox Prime 650RP for $2516.

15.6" FHD IPS 60HZ Matte LED
      NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5
Core i7-6700HQ Processor (6M Cache up to 3.50 GHz
      32GB DDR4 2133MHZ (2 x 16GB)
      Intel 600p 1TB PCIe M.2 SSD
Intel 8260 AC Dual Band WIFI/BT
      Windows 10 Home 64 Bit

4K screen option is present for additional amount.

      • Asus N552VX is the current one I got my eye on and a good deal cheaper then the Metabox option.

      Chris,
I've also been looking at the ASUS GL552VW which is FHD and with 4K screen. Main difference between the Acer and the Asus is the graphics card, but the ASUS allows you to open the guts and upgrade the graphics if you need to at a later date. Best price I've found for it is $1360.

      • Were did you find the ASUS GL552VW for $1360 Rockgod70?

Unless I'm looking at the wrong model I believe MSY has it for $1399 in their current "pdf" http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/notebook.pdf

It was from the Oz Buy Ebay store and like Chris said they had the 20% discount from the current $1699.
Thing I liked about this deal was 16Gb RAM instead of usual 8Gb and BluRay combo, no SSD though but can always throw one in extra.

      • I was also looking at the ASUS GL552VW but the N552VX was just a little thinner and nicer and around $1630 for 4K. The FHD is around 92% of the sRGB while the 4K is at 100% sRGB so much better screen for photo/video work. There were good deals on Ebay with the 20% off the past week but shop I was about to order from ran out of stock.

      look at the Lenovo y50.

Quad core i7 (bit older than the 6700HQ in this. Not as fast, but still quick).
GTX960m 4gb card (newer tech but slower than the 970m 3gb). The 3gb 970m is the better GFX card.
      4k screen 15.6"
1tb HDD (just change to SSD)
      16gb ram

$1399 on sale. Cash rewards extra 7.5% discount. add an SSD and you still well under $2K.
I guess it depends if you want the better GFX card from the 970 or the 4k screen as a priority.

No Bluray or I'd be interested. I think I'll eventually get an ASUS to replace my now aging laptops.

    • +3

bluray? seriously. optical drives are becoming obsolete

      • -1

So we should throw out all our DVD and Bluray movies?

        • +1

Into the land fill. Waste of space. Rip them all onto HDD

        • @Phoebus: Doesn't ripping them require an optical drive ;)

      • +1

Yes, you should definitely throw out your DVDs. You can keep the Blu-rays though.

      • -1

Well when someone wants to give me my money back or transfer my content to digital, I'll do that. Until then, and while there are still machines with Bluray players, I won't take your BAD advice. By the way this machine comes with a DVD drive. So your point is moot.

        • alright genius. you do that!

        • @havok44:

          No problem, your royal highness.

  • $15 Payment surcharge. uurrrrghghh

  • +2

Saw GTX 970M and then $1499 and instinctively upvoted. Would have bit had the new Pascal-based cards not already shown their prowess.

  • It's Avaviable again as of today (24/11/2016). They've restocked
