About CableGeek

CableGeek stocks the largest range of Anker cable products in Australia (and we are rapidly expanding our product catalogue to also include multiple models of Anker power banks and chargers by the end of this year). All products are immediately available and shipped from Melbourne. (Unlike AliExpress you definitely don't need to wait 20-41 days for your cables.) Our prices are great and we can match any price on Anker products quoted by local sellers.

Why Anker?

CableGeek has sold over 600 Anker cables (yes, 200 more since last week) so far and we have only heard good things from our customers. Put it simply Anker's cable products are among the best in the industry, in terms of build quality, design, durability and spec compliance. Charging speeds depend on multiple factors but a high-quality cable is a must-have. CableGeek also offers 18-month Australian warranty on all Anker products.

  • Unmatched low defect rate: <0.5% across all product lines over 18 months (vs 3% industry average), based on the stats provided by Anker
  • Premium design and engineering: I prefer Anker cables over the original ones because of they are better looking. They are incredibly durable too, watch this tough test video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2crISE-TLxE
  • Lightning cables are all MFi certified. I'm surprised that not every OzBargainer already know about this - MFi cables are guaranteed to work with all past and future iPhone models and iOS versions because they embed an authentication chip made by Apple. Technically they are the same as Apple cables. However this privilege doesn't come cheap - even at wholesale prices you can expect to pay at least 5 USD more for the MFi status. CableGeek is not some random overseas seller and anything that's not 100% compatible with iOS isn't acceptable to us.
  • Fast charging speeds. Anker's Micro USB and USB-C cables are absolutely the best performers in the industry. Combined with Anker's PowerIQ technology used in Anker PowerPort USB charger or Anker PowerCore+ power banks, the charging speed is as fast as the phone can safely handle.

The Simplistic Anker Cable Guide

Standard: Entry-level product. The cable itself is quite thick (more durable than other entry-level cables) and provides basic spec features.
PowerLine: Kevlar fibre core. Faster charging speed.
Nylon-braided: Nylon-braided design. Gold-plated connector.
PowerLine+: Most high-end product line. Kevlar + double nylon-braiding. Comes with a stylish pouch.

    No USBC?

We have supply issues with USB-C cables at the moment. We will have a lot more stock next week so please stay tuned!

Could do with a few certified A to C cables.

      • Any update?
Also, is it going to be the AK-A7132011 and/or AK-A7131011 pack?

  • my apple "1:1 lightning clones" have actually lasted longer than apple cables and 2 aftermarket "reputable" brands.
its funny that i paid $40 for ten of them about 3 years ago.
I have 2 in my car, 3 at home in different locations and one at work, yes one or 2 have been replaced but i still have 3 cables left from the orginal 10.

i dont see the deal here.

    • There are really some subtle differences between MFi and non-MFi cables. Firstly Lightning cables without MFi chip may be blocked by iOS updates (so it's possible that a software update can make all cables unusable). You're pretty lucky that this hasn't happened, but it's a risk facing cable buyers today. Secondly the charging speeds may also be different because lower-priced cables may not be as thick (internally) and the power currents may be lower.

Generally I'd also avoid non-MFi cables due to warranty concerns. I don't think warranty will be void with "unauthorised" accessories but it's worth the extra dollars having the peace of mind that Apple put a stamp of approval on MFi cables.

Also Anker is very different from other "reputable" brands. See the "Why Anker?" section above.

      • …There's 3 x MFI for $13 here. Australia stock
        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3X-AICase-Certified-Apple-MFI-Lig…

        • AICase only has one model with MFi certification: E0098 with UPC 0725452319998. The eBay listing has a different UPC, which might be because it's a 3-pack. But again Anker does have MFi registrations for all multi-packs.

Not saying that anything is wrong but failing to register all UPCs of product variants is questionable (because consumers cannot otherwise tell whether these cables include a genuine MFi chip).

  • Grabbed two 1.8m cables. Thanks!

  • +1

Finally someone in Australia is stocking Anker!! Thank you!

    • +1

It's annoying how there are no 1.8m cables from Amazon that ship to Australia. However you can get a Powerline 5-pack which contains 2x0.9m, 2x0.3m and 1x1.8m for $18.58USD (~$24.11AUD) shipped or $21.99 on eBay

      • Cheers. It seems to be the only way to get the 0.3m (1ft) cables here too…

    Please add this to OP

To summarise (from value to premium):

Standard: Entry-level product. The cable itself is quite thick (more durable than other entry-level cables) and provides basic spec features.
PowerLine: Kevlar fibre core. Faster charging speed.
    Nylon-braided: Nylon-braided design. Gold-plated connector.
PowerLine+: Most high-end product line. Kevlar + double nylon-braiding. Comes with a stylish pouch.

Also do you have any other deals on 1.8m cables besides the one in the OP? And multipacks with different lengths?

    • Added the summary. We're only ready to do the deal on Micro USB 1.8m at the moment due to supply shortages. However we may be able to do assorted length packs if we can get some stock soon enough.

  • Do people find these a lot better then the tikbro ones?

    • +3

lol tikbro were notoriously bad (wobbly micro usb end). then tronsmart joined the party (loose micro usb plug and sometimes wobbly too). blitzwolf is a late comer as well.

anker have been always been good, hence the price compared to the competition.

  • Thanks bought a couple of cables

  • OP, I'm looking for Anker Lightning Apple cables - braided. Do you reckon you can provide better pricing?

    • At the moment we are selling these premium cables close to cost — not much savings can be gained by bulk purchase. The stock quantities are also very limited. Hopefully we'll be able to do some PowerLine+ (double nylon-braided) deals in December.

  • Plus-voting because Marketing OP provides a detailed description and sensible, attentive answers.

  • Will you be stocking the Anker PowerLine USB-C to Micro USB Female Adapter packs any time soon? I have been trying to find an AUS seller.

    • Yes, eventually. Probably we can get something in December.

      • Awesome - will hold you to that!

  • Cheers OP! Bought the 3x Micro USB Powerline pack :)
