Travelling to Los Angeles this week and want to know what is cheap there to buy?
Not in the market for anything at the moment but if it is at the right price, why not?
What to buy from Los Angeles?
Comments
Still much cheaper than Australia, but no point buying just for the sake of buying.
Well, don't buy currency at LAX airport. Their rates are a rip off.
Totally agree with JB1. Don't go looking for "cheap" things to buy just because they may be cheap.
However, you may want to buy or try something that you can't get in Australia. Like an In-N-Out Burger?
One cheap thing I did do in LA was the $1 or $2 blue bus to Santa Monica. And I even went back to LAX on the blue bus.
I enjoyed In-N-Out Burger, definitely enjoy the food, especially Mexican food.
Mexican food/Food Trucks here in Australia is marketed as exotic and priced accordingly, but in LA it's cheap as chips and better!
I can't remember if it was a blue bus I took or the cost, but I look a bus from West Hollywood to Santa Monica… had dinner at Bubba Gum, which is probably a tourist trap but was fun. Also enjoyed the conversation with a local on the bus too.
Enjoy the food.. definitely great food over there. I think I gained about 3-4kg in 4 weeks while I was there.
If you're mobile, get a list of Ross's Dress for Less stores and check some out. They're like an outlet shop for decent brands, you can get some great clothes dirt cheap
agree with Wampus I think of them like BigW, but stocking named brand products such as clothes…but I've bought a leather wallet, multiple suitcases, etc… from there!
Visiting Ross and TJ Maxx should be compulsory for any OZ bargainer state side
A ticket to Disneyland or Universal Studios
Ross for discount clothes. Check a few stores if you are nearby as each store has different stuff.
Liquor/Spirits can be found for cheap at most convenience stores (Even cheaper at walmart if there is one near-by). i.e bottle of jimmy for $13USD (Just be sure to check the exchange rate)
One thing absolutely amazing I bought at LAX which I didn't see anywhere else was Jim Beam chocolates. They also had Kahula. I bought a small box to get rid of my last $10 but they tasted amazing. Wish I bought the larger pack now.
Was tax free too for some reason. It is available in the mini mart type place just outside of duty free.
I would head to the outlets for discounted clothes.
Unfortunately with the exchange rate nothing over in the states is that cheap at the moment .
