      Hi Poimandres

Because you are the first to comment and you said this is so damn cool, I will send you a secret code word you can say to our friendly staff and your takoyaki and drink will be free.

I'll send you a PM shortly.

  • I really hope this stall does well. I really like takoyaki

    • +3

      Thank you Lizard Spock!

We hope so too, and hope to expand our menu to also include okonomiyaki and kushikatsu.

      • In addition to expanding your menu, could you please also expand the cities you have stalls in? Would love to see some takoyaki in Melbourne. All the best for your grand opening!

        • Hi daoople

Thanks for your encouragement! Melbourne will be coming soon in the new year. Please keep in touch and we will send you some free vouchers when we launch in Melbourne.

      • I also hope you do well… I'm a crazy aussie who got obsessed with takoyaki in Osaka, and brings back a takoyaki cooker from my trips to Japan. I currently have 4, and have parties in Brisbane.

I love the cook yourself concept, available at many stores in Japan. But man, hope you guys do well! I spent $200 importing 12 bottles of takoyaki sauce from Japan, am a bit crazy. Kushi-Katsu is also one of my favourites… It's so satisfying. All the best guys, hope catch you there! PS are you from Osaka?

Wow! aryan12 you really are obsessed!

If you have an ABN, you will be able to get your sauces cheaper at JFC in Coopers Plains.

There are a few of us, from all over Japan including Osaka. I myself am a local and I look after the media side. We cook and serve Osakan style (specifically from Dotonbori) Takoyaki. We also have a partner currently in Sydney who is a formerly of Gindaco Takoyaki in Tokyo.

Thanks for your support and see you there!

        • @cheapskateasian: I am good friends with Tako-no-tetsu based in the Daiwa building, Umeda. But the postage usually costs approx $120 for a box of 24

  • Is it only Octopus? Looking forward to eating it!

  • do you have a vegetarian option?

    • +1

      Hi altomic

We have octopus, scallop and prawn fillings.

If you cannot eat seafood then unfortunately there is no vegetarian option available………… yet!

We will contact you to be our official vegetarian taste tester. Please let us know if you have any vegetarian filling ideas!

      • hhhmmm, tempura or cheese+corn or shitake mushrooms or tofu . or a combination.

        many choices.

I lived in Japan for 4 years and could never indulge in most festival foods because….fish/meat

I'll definitely be the official vegetarian taste tester.

        • Hi altomic

Thanks for the suggestions! Can you eat dashi in the batter? and how about bonito flakes?

Perhaps we substitute dashi with a kombu and mushroom broth and substitute bonito flakes with nori and fried shallot.

        • @cheapskateasian: no dashi/bonito.

the definition of vegetarian that I live by is "no dead animal"

that includes - no gelatine (allens lollies, some cream, etc) , no bonito, no worcestershire sauce, animal derived rennet (some cheese), no shrimp paste (some asian curries), no fish sauce, etc.

        • @altomic:I would consider that borderline vegan

        • @aryan12: more of a strict vegetarian- I eat eggs, dairy (cheese, icecream, cream), honey

        • @altomic: Ahh I see. Forgive my ignorance

        • @aryan12: all good. there is no formal definition and people self define.

for me: vegetarian = no dead animal (anything produced from dead animal). vegan = no animal products (produced by, made from, or touched by animals)

        • @altomic:

How about we just custom cook sweet battered balls with chocolate filling and garnished with chocolate flakes and condensed milk?

        • @cheapskateasian: <insert gif of homer Simpson salivating>

  • My first comment ever on Ozbargain! :) I love Takoyaki and this is so cool!!!

    • Cool!!! See you at the Markets with your hand sign!

  • Should have booked cheap flights to Brisbane when they were available =(

    • Where are you located?

We will aim to hold a pop-up stall in your city!

      • Perth.

Finding authentic Japanese food is difficult in Perth. These days, I have almost given up on quality Japanese food, with the exception of Jaws.

        • +1

We will aim for Perth in the new year. Thanks!
