Hi,

I am very sure that it will happen, I heard from a friend. Apparently it will be next week
And how did your friend come across this info? I really hope it's true, because I really want a new 2-in-1.
Technically it's not my friend, it's my friend's friend. It's definitely confirmed but I need more info before I can post it.
Assuming the discount is across the range, can anyone recommend one for a new uni student?
Basic needs:
Not too heavy
Fairly robust
Good battery life
Decent performance.
Touch screen NOT required.
Gameplay NOT required.
Reading the many "help me pick a laptop threads" I've seen recommendations from people for the Thinkpad 13 - i5 with 8Gb. So I was sort of leaning that way.
Any reason not to choose this?
Depends on the price range
ie depends on how thick your wallet are. with 50% off just spend whatever you are comfortable it will be overpower your need. easy.
just close your eyes and pick one within your budget basically.
What's the diff between a Thinkpad and an Ideapad? I really like my Lenovo tablet and I'm looking for a lappie now.
@scrimshaw: Thanks!
Thinkpad 13 is great, but the Thinkpad T series is better. Assuming that you can get a T series for around a grand (or even under) they are one of the best windows laptops you can buy

Thanks OP got one
Thanks OP got two
Yep they have now run out of stock
Soz
Did you use cash rewards for an extra 7.5%?

Broden….
Tack one or two zeros on the end and Broden would be proud:)
Associated with Lenovo… are you TA's secret contact?
Nope, TA negotiates by himself/herself no middle man
The arse is tight so definetely not a her, unless if its been e-rectumized.
Does it come with spyware?
For sure (Windows 10)!
Top on of Windows 10 or just Windows 10?
Missed out!
Here are the confirmed stores participating:
No eBay? No Kogan?
There are still 17 days to go until it starts so there might be more.
Smells a lot like a click frenzy… Can the servers handle it??
No
Lenovo is now featured as a OzB10 retailer, think this is likely…
damn, should I get the E470 or wait for this?
Patience is a virtue IMO
yep holding out
50% really? Sounds too good to be true. I'm excited to see what is offered though.
I'm looking at the add in the sidebar at the moment, $888 for the i5 Thinkpad 13.
This is technically already a 29% discount because the 'web price' is $1249, so if this machine goes up for 50% discount it'll be a essentially another 29% off the normal price. Which is plausible.
Not to mention a pretty amazing price.
Seriously annoyed, choose to get Velocity points instead of cashback, Velocity didn't register it and rejected the claim (6 points for every $1 spent) and now in the middle of disputing it…
Moral of the story: Velocity estore is shite.
Was that buying a Lenovo through the velocity estore?
Yep… bought through the link on the eStore. Sent through pics of my google history to showed I had clicked on the site 5 mins before I was on the cart page. Decision still pending, bought in June/July!! Ridiculous!
Why companies don't make a ~11" laptop with i5 or above??
I want a reasonably powerful laptop for travelling, don't want 14" or 15.6", 8gb of ram, FHD screen and user-swappable HDD/SSD…any suggestion?
I'll get back to you and find something
Got one of these sometime back. only 4gb of RAM but as a windows 8 and now win10, it runs well.
Not a true laptop like the surface pro with the keyboard attachment a bit unstable but excellent value. No longer available unfortunately.
Wow that's exactly the kind of specs I am talking about!
Too bad it's no longer available, but will keep an eye out.
Thanks xd.
MS surface pro series can still be bought with i5 and above. If you want the lightest possible option, it is great. I think there has been a few deals on them on OzBargain recently (if cost is not an issue, then see https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msaus/en_AU/pdp/Surface…). I wouldn't go I7 as I heard that the heat build up quickly and the CPU will be throttled back down in speed quite quickly.
Cheers.
XPS 13.
13" laptop with 11" footprint. No bezel on screen.
I understand that this is still not yet "official" yet, but based on "rumours" that have been heard (I supposed this is directed at Bearosaurus in particular), is this more of a "50% flat off all/most laptops" or a "up to 50% off some laptops" sort of sale?
I might have gotten a bit too excited and was checking out the T460p laptops, with quad-core i7s and discrete graphics, and thinking about how they would come down from ~$2500 to $1250, which would drop further down to $1000 with CBA's $250 off $500 CC deal…and that's when reality kicked in!
Edit: forgot about the cashback too.
Yeah keep adding discounts on top of other discounts.. good luck.
Mmmmmmmmmm well. I just bought an X1 carbon as part of their singles day sales. Does Lenovo have a price protection thing in Australia? I've heard they have something like that in the US (if you buy something and then within 20 days it drops in price they'll refund you). Know if anything like that exists here?
Yes, with Coles master card you are protected for 2 years.
Nah don't even need that, Lenovo has a price protection thing of their own for all purchases. So that's all good. If this sale ends up being better than the deal i got I'll just use their own guarantee
ANY news or updates?
Not so far
Thank you.
Really hoping to buy a loaded out T460p. Deal if true would bring it below 2K.
I'm checking now, hang tight!
Is there any likelihood of there being a deal on the ThinkPad X260 i7? Noticed Lenovo has a current deal on it but not sure whether to go for it or not.
Sorry guys, nothing. ;(
Ie. No deals for Ozbargain 10th birthday? :(
No as in its not 50% off.

Of course they still make profit at even 70% off but seeing how greedy are the corporations, doubt it.
