    Any deals on the 20000?

    • +4

      Coming soon ;)

      • Pls pls a deal on the 20000

    • +1 on 20,000. Going on a long plane trip in December, would like the extra juice in case.

      • every plane ive been on for the past several years has had USB ports on it.

        • +1

they are usually weak. Devices still drain when connected to the plane's USB ports.

        • depends some airlines are still in the process of transiting to the new designs which includes USB ports. I know that the Cathay Pacific planes from HK to Japan dont have them not sure about the others. But like dorian_gray said the USB ports are weak and pointless if you want to use it whilst your using the device.

  • " signature on arrival"
so cant use parcel locker? deal breaker…

    • +2

Hmm I have had deliveries from Mushtato sent to a parcel locker before.

    • I hate being able to send things to a parcel locker. I just ordered a Pixel XL worth $1300 and I could not send it to my locker.

      • +1

Great! You must be very happy then. :)

      • +2

        *Not being able to.

        • yeah i think startrack courier cannot. i hate them too

        • +1

@eisniwre: Startrack is owned by Australia Post. Shouldn't be any issues getting them to deliver to an Auspost Parcel Locker.

          • Parcel Lockers terms and conditions apply. Collection time limits apply. Fees and charges will apply to carriers other than Australia Post and StarTrack to lodge parcels under the Parcel Locker and Parcel Collect (Post Office) services. This cost may be passed on to customers. You have 48 hours to collect your parcel once it has arrived at a Parcel Locker. Letters and standard mail that can be delivered to your letterbox, including Express Post letters, will not be accepted. Please refer to the full terms and conditions for further details.
            http://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/parcel-lockers.html
        • @Domingo: hmm well i had few experiences where they insisted they cannot in the past. maybe changed now. also i remember a courier used by sony also cant deliver to parcel locker

        • +1

@eisniwre: Correct about other carriers. Toll usually call and ask for an alternate delivery location, I'm assuming because they don't have any functionality to pass the cost on.

  • +1

Diff between pro and no pro?

    • Pro has QuickCharge support.

    • +2

Pro also has an usb type c connector, there is actually a new Xiaomi PowerBank 2 which is the micro usb connector with same 10000mah, with QuickCharge 2.0 tech and cheaper but slightly thicker.

    • +2

pro is quick charger both ways, ie quick to charge your mobile, also quick to charge power bank itself.
      correct?

      • Apparently the non-pro also is bi-directional https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273510

        • The one in that deal is the new version though.
          This is the older version.

        • @theguyrules:
From what I can see, the only differences are that it's 1.5mm thinner and has usb-c ports.

        • really? wow thats good but the input Voltage is just 5

        • @theguyrules: you meant THAT is, the link that baebs posted. this post is the older version so non bi direct.

        • @eisniwre: Sorry yeah, that's what I meant.

    • +1

"Double press for low power charging
Safely charge low power devices such as bluetooth headsets or fitness bands.
Simply double press the power button to enter 2-hour low power charging."

This is the main difference I think.

Xiaomi Power Bank 2 is on their way to Australia.
They will be available soon ;)

    • Thanks, I know what to get you for xmas now :)

  • Too late Mushtato, I already bought the QC 2.0 Xiaomi Pro Bank (Type-C) from Geardo …

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/269493

    • +10

Thanks, I was just wondering whether you bought the QC 2.0 Xiaomi Pro Bank (Type-C) from Geardo.

      • -1

And I wonder why you want to know?

    • Me too - I've always wanted to know if you bought the QC 2.0 Xiaomi Pro Bank (Type-C) from Geardo

  • +1

Type C port is INPUT ONLY and doesn't support charging a device. Also doesn't have support for USB PD. No point getting this over the one that's half the price.

    • Yeah, I don't get this, why does the Xiaomi info say Input/Output ? I have seen lots of pics and info from Xiaomi that says this but 'users' say it's only input… Where can I find the definitive reference info? I am a tech person so it doesn't need to be in layman's terms, if you have a source of truth? Thanks.

I assume the new v2 has Type C Output?

I have 3 Type C adaptors but only one of them allows "Rapid Charging" :(

    • Ive got this and im pretty sure it does do output via usb-c if you use a C-C cable but you have to press the button.

    • Type-C port is compatible for both input and output :)

      • Everyone online says the UBC C is for input only.

        • Like Kambo_Rambo said, the port itself is capable for both input and output.
However, you need to use a USB type-C to USB type-C cable to connect it with your device.
Another thing most people doesn't know is the cable needs to be QC2.0/3.0 as well.
They look exactly the same as regular cables, but they are different.
E.g. if your phone is QC2.0/3/0 compatible, your genuine charging should be compatible as well.
Plus, the short recharge cable that comes with 10000 Pro is QC2.0 cable :)

        • @mushtato:
I bought one of these from Mushtato, their claim that it supports USB Type-C output is a complete lie.

It wouldn't charge my Nexus 6p and their rep claimed it was because it wasn't QC 2.0/3.0 compatible. I was never able to test this as the wasn't a single phone on the market that met those specs.

The galaxy note 7 which was unreleased at the time was supposed to but we all know how that turned out.

USB type-C is a standard and this power bank doesn't meet it, if you google USB type-C and QC 2.0 you get and article about a Google engineer warning that the 2 are incompatible. A USB Type-C qc2.0 cable that the rep claimed you need isn't a real thing.

The cable that comes with it is a micro USB cable with a type c adapter that charges extremely slowly and doesn't use the type c port on the power bank.

I was only able to return mine by lodging a PayPal claim as the reps would do nothing but stick to their lies about it being type c compatible when it isn't.

        • @twadds:
As per listing, QC2.0/3.0 compatible devices includes the most popular devices in the market.
Includes most Samsung Galaxy, LG and HTC models.
Supporting list can be found from Qualcomm official website:
          https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/devices/all?fea…
          https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/devices/all?fea…

But no, unfortunately, Nexus 6P is not compatible with QC2.0/3.0:
          http://www.droid-life.com/2015/10/19/nexus-6p-nexus-5x-quick…
Nor does Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

        • @mushtato: Do you sell QC compatible USB C to C cables?

        • +1

          @lolcoaster: Not at the moment.
But we are working on it to find reliable products.
We will put them on as add-on once they are available :)

        • @twadds: did you try charging with the type c to type c cable that came with your 6p? Did ityou charge?

        • @julz: No, it will only charge slowly.
As it won't pass the QC version test.
Then the power bank will drop back to low current model to protect itself from any potential damage.

        • @julz:
You can charge the power bank with a Type-C to Type-C cable but if you plug a phone into the power bank the power bank tries to draw power from the phone.

        • @mushtato:

There are no samsung phones on the market that support both USB type-C and QC2.0/3.0.

The HTC 10 and LG G5 support both but no other phones from either company.

Perhaps you should put an asterisk next to your claim on your website stating the charger supports USB type-C output but the vast majority of phones with a type-C port are not supported.

        • @twadds: Please see the last common by #llama.
It explained clearly what are USB type-C and QC2.0/3.0.
          QC2.0/3.0 supported Samsung models:
          https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/devices/all?man…

        • @mushtato:

None of those Samsung phones have a USB type-C port, it makes no sense to get this model of power bank if you use one of them.

Most QC2.0/3.0 chargers will still charge devices that are not QC compatible albeit at a slower rate, this is the only one I've ever heard if that won't.

This a a major limitation that is not clearly explained on your website.

Many places selling this item state in the listing that the type-C port does not allow discharing:
          http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_421561_2016_New_Genuine_X…

Are you able to provide a video of this powerbank charging a phone outputting through the power banks USB type-C port, I've looked thoroughly online and every review and forum post about it claims that the USB type-C port does not support output.

        • @twadds: Correction: was trying to say the type-C adapter is for connection between charger (power source) and the power bank.
          Not the device.

But no, as #llama stated, non-QC2.0/3.0 devices won't pass the circuit check.
As a result, it will drop the output current to protect itself from any potential damage.

If you connect your device through the USB type-C socket, the power bank will recognize your own device as a power source.

      • Right on, TA
That makes this a very groovy deal. Especially this

        Xiaomi 5000mAh Power Bank ( +$12.95

  • +1

FYI pro version doesnt do rapid charge via USB-C (like for Nexus 6P) which requires 5V/3A

    • You are correct.
Some devices such as Nexus 6P are not equipped with QC2.0/3.0.
That's why they can't use any QuickCharge function.

  • Is this a "dumb" power source (not capable of negotiation)? Requiring data pins (D+, D-) to be shorted to work with some phones.
I'm a bit clueless, further explanation is here.
I've had a Moki car charger not work for me.

    • Short circuit the D+ and D- should work with this power bank.
However, self-modification of the product is not recommended.
It will reduce its lifetime and create risk.
It will be safer if you simply find an adapter for it.

  • Does it come with any warranty?

Yes, 12 months standard local warranty

      No GST invoice ;)

      • I didn't release shopping square is an overseas company. Says tax invoice is supplied and local warranty as well.

        • +1

They are an Australian registered company.
However, same as Kogan, not every products they are selling is GST included.
          Some are drop shipping.

        • It says "direct shipping offer" on this one, so it will be sent from overseas.
          Here's some info
The 8-15 working days is only the handling time, it will likely be an extra 2-4 weeks shipping.

        • @Miss B: Yes, they probably ship them from oversea.
Make sure you ask for a tax invoice for every purchase.
So that you are protected by Australian Consumer Law :)

  • I want to get the Pro, but what is the benefit of a usb-c port? To power a laptop or charge by laptop?

If primarily to be used with an iphone then is there any point to get the Pro? Bear in mimd that iphone doesn't do QC nor comes with a usb-c port.

    • +1

      Good point.
For Apple iPhones users, the benefit of 10000mAh Pro is its compact size compare to the regular 10000mAh model.
Personally I'll recommend 5000mAh model for compact size or the regular model for iPhone users :)

  • I'm using a Nexus 5X and I'm looking at the 10000mAh plus. Reading the comments, I realise that the Nexus 5X isn't QC2.0 or 3.0 compatible. Does this mean I can't use the USB Type-C as an output?

    • Correct.
I will recommend the normal version of 10000mAh power bank :)

      • I understand that I won't be getting quickcharge capabilities, but will I be able to charge using the Type-C port as an output? Basically, I'm asking if I can use my Type-C to Type-C cable

        • No, you won't.
          It will charge very slowly.
Please check the below common by #llama.
It has also explained why it won't work :)

    • Does this mean I can't use the USB Type-C as an output?

      Think about it.

  • I have an iphone 6s. what is the benefit of getting the QC 2.0 model over the standard model?

  • +4

The USB Type C comments above are confusing, and the misinformation getting posted here is certainly not helping.

In order to use a USB Type C port AND get the "special charging possibilities" you need THREE things…

    1) A charger that has a USB Type C port
AND contains the negotiation circuits needed
AND supports USB Power Delivery standard

    2) A phone that has a USB Type C port
    AND contains the negotiation circuits
AND supports USB Power Delivery standard

    3) A SUITABLE CABLE - and not just some random USB Type C cable.

Without the correct cable, the 2 devices (1) and (2) cannot negotiate to decide what voltage and current to use.

USB Type C is just a PORT. All manner of things can be connected to it including displays! Some USB Type C cables are active devices with chips inside like the Apple Lightning.

Some devices might have the USB Type C connector, but not the proper circuits to make them charge quickly or do other special things via the USB Type C port. For example, some phones have USB Type C port but run at only USB 2.0 behind the scenes. Other devices might use the USB Type C connection and have USB 3.0 data speeds, but only USB 2.0 power delivery (500mA).

Using a cable which has other than a USB Type C on both ends means it cannot operate as USB Type C with USB Power Delivery. It will probably fall back to QC 2.0 or QC 3.0 or similar mode (eg: 5V 2.0A or so) if you are lucky.

This is not a 100% technically correct explanation, and I am writing it off the top of my head so it probably has mistakes. However the message is that people really need to educate themselves.

    READ AND LEARN:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_Type-C
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#PD
    http://www.androidauthority.com/usb-type-c-and-3-1-explained…

    • +1

      Perfectly explained! (Thumb up)
USB Type-C just like USB Type-A (commonly called "USB port"), it's just a socket/port type.
Like any other ports such as Micro USB, Mini USB, etc,
Having the USB type-C port on the device doesn't mean it is compatible with QC2.0/3.0.
To check if your device is QC2.0/3.0 compatible, visit Qualcomm official website:
      https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/devices/all

      • It would be quite unlikely that a device with USB Type C would bother using QC 2.0 or QC 3.0. The Quacomm system and USB Power Delivery are, in effect, "competing standards".

Maybe I should do a Wiki entry to match that new Xiaomi page. But I am not really an expert on all this.

        • That is also true.
Every standard a device equips with cost money.
It's unlikely a device to have both standards.
That's why Xiaomi 10000mAh Pro doesn't have the USB type-C on the charging cable.
          But comes with an adapter.
          That's really smart.

  • Hey Store Rep,
Reckon you'd get more of the Xiaomi 20000mAh Mi Power Bank 3.6A Dual USB with QC Fast Charge ?

    • Yes, they are on their way to our warehouse.
We will put them on promotion once they arrives :)

    • Thought I'll just let you know that the QC is only for charging the power bank itself. The device will still charge at a standard speed… For the device to charge at QC you'll need the pro or model 2. Was disappointed when I found that out

  • I'm abit confused, I was looking at the 10,000 mah version 2 (the one with quickcharge but not the pro version with usb-c), i.e.:

    http://www.banggood.com/Original-Xiaomi-10000mAh-Both-way-Qu…

is quick charge a technology requiring a suitable phone to enable the quick charging function?? I thought it was technology where any charging done by the battery pack was faster than the 10,000 mah version 1 per this deal? ANd same for recharging the battery pack?

I only ask as I have an old xperia z3 so I assume it would not come with the likes of this QC technology. Mrs has an iphone 6 I think.

I saw someone mention the nexus above and mushato responded that it did not have QC capabilities. In which case - if you need a phone compatible to use quick charging then I may just get the battery pack in this deal given it isn't as thin, but it is a lot shorter in length (91mm as opposed to the 130mm of the version 2)?

Could anyone clarify (who understands this all)?

    Thank you.
