I have been on the lookout for a decent 15.6"laptop for my mother law and this one will be perfect. OK so its meant to be ugly, really ugly. I havent seen it myself yet so will look out for her reaction as she opens the box and tries to look appreciative. A 6th gen i5 doesnt mean much to her!

Online chat said they have plenty in stock. I could only get it delivered as no stores around me in Melbourne had stock.

    I'm sure that she will be thankful to have it regardless of its exterior, she tends to hold onto her laptops for a good 10 years so I do feel like I am attaching a steel ball to her leg here..

      10 years. That's a pretty long time. Kudos to you for getting her a reasonably powerful machine that is up-gradable and will continue to work several many years into the future, and not some meek under-powered netbook.
      But seriously, what's wrong with the exterior? It appears to be a classic black finished laptop to me. I intentionally pick out the plainest design I can get but that's just me.
      Maybe she wants a pink macbook replica or some other daft looking iCrap?

        Now that I have it I completely agree, it is totally fine. I was going by extreme comments on last Post of same laptop model. Build quality is average and a reasonable thickness. Textured surface, screen is good and bright. I use a MacBook Pro retina so have fairly high standards.. putting it side by side to her old ASUS its miles better in every department so she'll be happy. It has ac wireless too.

        Added bonus is the $613 receipt at TAX time for her, wheras Im only $391 out of pocket :-)

  I have seen one of these in the flesh and it's certainly a hunk of a laptop.
  Best to be kept on the dining table kind of portable :)

  Is there any reason I can't do 2 x $300 transactions on two different Amex cards (that have both registered for the deal) to get 2 x $100 back? That is assuming I can find a store with stock.

  Hi guys, If anyone bought this laptop on the weekend, it dropped to $478 online for one day only yesterday. I went through online chat and they credited me the difference of $121! All up $393 delivered now.. PM me if you want a PDF of the webpage from yesterday, you'll need it to get the refund.
