Looking for a cheap 4G modem as moved to a new house without internet and came across this deal from Aus Post flyer. Although the offer is running since October 1st, 2016 but I did not notice it in the oz bargain.

The Optus Huawei E5573 4G WiFi Modem comes with 4 GB of included data with 14 days expiry for use within Australia. I able to price match it with officeworks.

  • The Optus $30 packs show as $15 in their catalogue. It appears these offers only apply to very limited locations, in SA the only locations listed on that website are hours away from Adelaide. Rural only?

    • Yes, only a few stores of SA are participating. The full list of Australia Post stores participating in this promotion are provided in the link above.

      • Looks like only Rural locations in all states.

  • Bum - I just bought an E5573 modem on the weekend at Officeworks for $29.

  • Nice and cheap. They must be getting rid of them and/or makign room for a new model.

I just picked up one of these at Officeworks (VIC) on the weekend for $24.50.

In case you aren't able to get to an Australia Post for the Optus $30 pack, I just bought one off eBay for $10 from the official Optus store a week or so ago. It came two days later with StarTrack shipping. Very pleased !

    • whats the expiry date on the sim?
it says 'Activate & recharge on chosen plan within 30 days of purchase'

      • I threw away the packaging of the SIM card unfortunately. Unless there is a way I can find that out from the SIM card itself ?

I chatted with Optus online during the last similar deal and they said if you don't activate within 30days of purchase the sim gets disabled and you may as well throw it in the bin. I assume it is so people don't stockpile starter kits like they have done with Telstra in the past.

    This modem has band 28?

  • Optus and Australia Post are offering great deals in selected areas during October – to celebrate the arrival of 4G Plus, Optus’ fastest ever network, in these areas.

    Only these areas, sigh.

  • Awesome OW still have it for $29…
Nice thing you can then use it for the free steaming services. For $50 recharge its 7gb/365days which is a cheap way to get steaming on the go.pity they don't include iview

I always like to get steaming on the go. Mainly because I drive a locomotive.

      • Too many Thomas eps today :-)

  • so this can be used with Telstra Sims as well? Also, has anyone used these for gaming? How's the ping?
