My friend's ADSL modem router is dying. I am trying to buy them a new modem/router with some degree of future proofing included. They don't have NBN yet (soon?).
Do you think I can do better than a TP-LINK Archer VR600 AC1600 for the money?
All I want is (minimum specs):
- ADSL2+/VDSL(NBN) compatibility
- AC wireless (any speed, 2.4 and 5GHz)
- No high-end requirements needed, like gaming, 4k streaming, VOIP etc
- Budget, less than $180
Any comments welcomed.
Buy a decent router, and get the "free" FttN modem when the friend's neighborhood goes live.
Make sure the ISP's FttN modem is bridgeable.
I have an old Netcomm NB6 ADSL2 modem you can bridge to the router in the meantime. PM me
