Nothing against this bargain, but whenever I've tried to get "free X", I've given up after realising that it will cost me 45 minutes of queuing to save $5, meaning that I'm valuing my time at less than $8 an hour… then I just go and buy the damn X somewhere else.

  Agree but assuming you aren't making a special trip to the airport to get a free coffee, then you may as well line up for a coffee as you have to wait for your flight anyway.
