    Rent or buy?

    • +2

      Buy.
      Thanks. Updated.

    • buy in HD

    • There's a difference? Ha!

  • +3

That is such a great deal because it's HD such makes it better. Any other great 99c movies.

Also, I can't wait for the day sheen you can upload a movie to the cloud similar to what you would do with Google Music.

Just watched this last night. Literally best movie i have watched in a long time

    • +2

      literally?

    • Here's the Rotten Tomatoes review: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/john_wick/
Scores 'Certified Fresh' 85% on the Tomatometer. Thanks OP!

    • HOLY CRAP. ME TOO

    • +2

I have seen it about 5 times and watched it again last time. Not a single boring moment in the movie. For me it's right up there with the Bourne movies.

      • +1

How many kills John Wick does in the movie?

        • +1

haha. I wasn't counting but according to someone on the internet, it was 77.

  • Excellent. Awesome movie that I really should watch again.

  • +5

Hate buying Google Play movies and not able to store them in an external hard drive. Android tablet only has limited storage space :(

    • +14

I buy from Google Play then I go to Pirate Bay…

So I legally purchased a digital copy of the film, then I access a copy that I can use on my SD card in my phone :D

      • That's one way of seeing it.

        • +5

legally, i think this actually works, if you ever got court!

        • +3

@xEnt: I see what you did there I caught what you were saying about going to court!

        • @bunnybash: i took it from a sign at my local foodland (shoplifters get court!)

      • +1

i do the same! i only pirate bay stuff i've bought online or on dvd. not sure how legal it is but seems okay morally :-)

    • If your device has supports sd card you change the storage to there at least.

Time to use google survey credit

  • Awesome OP… :)

  • Oh nice! Also using Google Opinions credit. HD and pretty sure it can be shared on other devices linked to my account too, so really good stuff for a buck.
    Thanks for the heads up.

  • +2

Speaking about Opinions credit, i haven't received any surveys for a week :/

    • I get about one a fortnight. A bit of a change from when they were once every couple of days some time back.

      • Just curious. How does one sign up for this?

        • +3

Download Google Opinion Rewards app from the play store and register

      • Same here. I just turned on Location permission in the settings to see if it will change.

    • +1

Get out and about more… :)

    • +2

You have to leave your house

    • +2

I work at a supermarket and it always asks me if I was shopping at the supermarket the next day.

It's great, I've been making a killing in google play credit. Haven't bought anything with actual money in months. :D

    • If you live in the CBD, you will be getting at least 1 in two days.

    • +2

I went on a holiday the other weekend. First time in ages… I got 5 in the 3 days I was away. Plus one every second day since, asking me about holiday crap. The holiday is almost paying for itself.

  • Bargin

  • Thanks, OP. Sweet deal.

  • Entertaining movie! Good popcorn flick

  • Great find, thanks!

  • +4

Keanu reeves. One of the rare genuinely nice guys in Hollywood. And even better this movie is actually very good for those who like nicely choreographed non shaky camera popcorn guntastic action films. Thanks OP

  • +3

Good timing as John Wick 2 is only four months away…

  • +14

Was about to purchase but noticed it got added to Netflix this month. Save me $0.99
    ☺️

    • +2

Damn it. Pulled the trigger just half an hour back.

      • +13

I think you should be able to cancel within a few hours if not watched. I bought anyway. 99c - to have forever if you want. Netflix movies come and go. Plus, (I'm guessing) you can download the google one on wifi and watch on your mobile device without using mobile data.

    • It's on foxtel to, bit morbid for my taste, it is well made though.

    • +1

Just went looking for it…..couldn't find John Wick on Netflix Au. Couldn't see a date on the lifehacker link??

      • It's on the STAN list, I'd rather buy it for 99c than have to subscribe to stan as well

        • Ahhhh, thanks. Says Netflix above.
I subscribe to Netflix and donr want another sub to Stan or the ever free Presto either.

  • Purchased. Thanks OP.

  • +1

99c value for sure, hear there's somehow a sequel

  • Can I download this to memory card to watch on 55"TV ..I know the Chromecast method

  • +5

I heard the sequel was about gangster killing his pet turtle.

    • +1

weird, i heard the sequel was about a gangster killing John Wick, and his beagle goes on a revenge rampage

      • Mr Ruffles Wick: He's getting his paws dirty… to dig their graves.

  • +2

Love this movie. William Dafoe, as always, makes a kick ass supporting character.

  • Thanks OP!

  • Wish you could download these movies like iTunes

    • You can.

      • Ahh how I have no idea, all I do is log into YouTube and watch them

    • If you have an android phone/tablet, download the google play movies app. You can download the movie in the app and watch it from there. I am pretty sure if you are using Chromecast however it will stream rather than play from phone?

  • +1

Some of the best shoot-em-up choreography this decade. It's going to be tough for the sequel to live up to.

  • Never bought a move from Google Play before . What happens when you buy movies in Google play - Does the movie becomes associated with your gmail account forever ( like Steam games with Steam account) , so you can watch it on any android device any number of times forever as long as you sign into your gmail account ? Please advise.

    • Yes - you just need to login to your account to access.
You can sync the movie to your phone or tablet if you plan to watch while travelling, though normally you would just watch streaming.
Only certain devices get Full HD - Chromecast (or proper Android TV) offers excellent quality for watching on TV.

      • Does YouTube offer good HD?

        • YouTube itself offers very good quality - well resolution and codecs are excellent, though the compression may be too high for some tastes. Note there's even some 8K videos on YouTube.

You can access/play Google Play Movies videos through from the YouTube web page (https://www.youtube.com/purchases) however in my testing now these videos are limited to 480p.

If playing via the Google Play Movies web page (https://play.google.com/movies), it doesn't show the resolution - but I'm guessing it's the same.

Apparently you need to have a HDCP monitor to get HD. My work computer is just using DVI.

  • Thanks. Never heard of this until the announcement of the sequel. Sounds good and that's a good price to find out.

  • +1

I watched this 2 nights ago. Great movie! Then my wife showed me this last night and kept watching 5x. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCIgpUTvfsA

  • +5

I must say Keanu's lack of facial expression really helps him in this role.

  • Amazing movie, thanks OP! Bought with the Google survey credit.

  • Just watched it with my kids they loved it

  • Epic first deal OP. Well played.

Just keep in mind you can't download movies or TV shows bought through Google Play to your PC.

I just found that out the hard way by 'purchasing' this but can't download it to my hard drive to watch offline. You can watch it on your PC online but even though you 'bought' it you can't download it. Buy means buy to keep not rent permanently, until they change their T&C's or close down then bang your 'purchase' is gone. Or if you can't connect to the internet no movie for you that you 'bought'.

Yet more cutting your nose off to spite your face antics from this industry and they wonder why torrents are so popular.

    • +5

      Would you download a car?

      • If I could 3D print it, I would, dammit!

    • +4

You can save it for offline viewing on your android device though

    • +2

      its 99c….

  • Thx. I've been wanting to watch this for ages

  • Great find. Thanks!

  • Something to watch on the train. Love this film.

  • +1

Does this comsume my limited data if I watch with google play ?

    • Not if you sync to your mobile device in the Google Play Movies app.

      • What do you mean?

        • If you "sync" or download the movie over WiFi, then it won't consume mobile data.

        • @Scumbag: Some people have limited data at home ;-)

    • Yes.

  • +4

This movie is a love story about a guy and his dog. Thats what I told the mrs and she bought it. Technically true

    • I love dogs! I should watch this movie.

      • +2

If you love dogs you might not want to watch this movie :P

      • Maybe Keanu is more your style, its a love story about a guy and his kitten. The kitten is so adorable it made me want to vomit

  • Want a John Wick Mask for John Wick: Chapter 2 release in Feb 2017?
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1-6-KUMIK-15-5-Male-Figure-H…

    • I think that's an actual photo of Keanu. It's hard to tell the difference, I know.

      • Yep, On closer inspection, its a scaled model of his face! Not an actual mask :(

  • Deal seems to have expired. Price is back to $12.99 to buy.
