Was looking for a cheap brand name reverse cycle air-conditioning and came across this. I think at $602 after ebay discount this should meet most ozbargainers requirements.
Get ready for summer now! And don't forget cash rewards for that extra 1.25%.

I would consider buying a more reputable brand ie Fujitsu, Panasonic or Mitsubishi. as once you pay for install, the $100 between this and a top brand feels quite negligible.

Agree.. do it once, do it right.
Agreed. Kelvinator is a brand name that Chinese manufacturers have bought to give generic products legitimacy. Having said that you may get lucky and have it last. I have a $499 4.5Kw Bunnings Mistral one that has lasted 8 years and is very efficient (mind you I had another die after a couple of years - I think that was mostly due to a bad installation).
I've been cursing the previous owners of my house for installing a junky chinese unit in the master bedroom. Must have saved them $150 at most on the unit over a brand name. It's so noisy and inefficient that I just bought a 2nd-hand Mitsubishi to replace it.
Noisiest rubbish brand that I ended up ripping down and replacing with Mitsubishi.
Mate we are putting this in a rental, so noise or durability is not an issue. Besides the noise level is only a few dB more than Fujitsu and the warranty is 5yrs. 😁
Once you pay for install it's less than 10 percent dearer to buy a Panasonic. It's like buying a Mahindra Ute for 25,000 versus a hilux for $27,500. If that was the price gap they would never sell any Mahindras.
What are they charging for installs these days?
Assuming it's cheaper to do it now before summer hits.Shop around for installation as it can range from $400 to almost $1000. In general for this size unit its about $500 install is not too complicated
Also depends on how far the compressor is from the head, how hard is it to access where it will be installed etc.
I did a quote request recently and the minimum from about 6 I got was $500 and that was for a unit swap, where everything was in place so no wiring or piping so its pretty safe to say $500 is the buy in price these days.
Back to the original, this is probably a good deal so no down vote from me, we should all make our own purchase decisions but I completely agree that once install is factored in and given the return on investment is going to be over about 10 years, you should buy a better unit. We have a cheap no brand unit in our master bedroom and before it died last summer, it was so noisy and did a rubbish job anyway so I am glad it died!
Put C2.5kW H3.2kW in title perhaps
