  • No incentive for NSW. 😢

    • Thanks for clearing that up, edited description. I didn't notice it was available in Victoria only :(

  • I have this TV. It's got the standard Smart TV features:YouTube, Netflix, Chromecast which work well. On the neg side, some apps you can't uninstall, the speakers are 20w and there are some bugs in the software that just don't get fixed (delete channels is very slow /doesn't work - on mine at least).

I've got this TV. I prefer it to many 4k TV's I've seen out on display.

I know there is a Samsung 4k TV floating around for around $1200 that's 55" - not sure which exact model. I found this infinitely better. I got mine about 3 weeks ago for a similar price and couldn't be happier.

Image interpolation/upscaling is where this TV is amazing. Everything looks great on it. http://eki.pp.fi/digivideo/TopCom_HV20_420_interpolate.jpg - that picture sums it up.

For me 1080P was also better because I plan to run my computer through my TV occasionally. It won't be as 'power hungry' for my computer and I know windows is still terrible at image scaling.

I would advise to spend about $150 more and get a cheapie sony soundbar. It won't take up space, will work with the normal sony remote, and it will make it an overall very nice package.

    • Love your review buddy! I am SO tempted to buy one, but it may break the bank :(

I just don't know if it'll come down further in the coming weeks/months, because TRENT86 posted a deal for the same TV and TGG were selling for $876 - do you think I should buy or wait? Seeing as though it's a 2015 model

Btw, there's a perfectionist TV review website called RT which has the best calibration settings if you're interested.
      http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/w800c/settings

      • Cheers! I went on there on day 1 to calibrate it. Great website.

I think $956 is still an absolute bargain! I know there is potential for it to come down more, but by that time the TV may become obsolete(/stock availability will be limited). Then you'll have to get the 4k version which is around $1299 (not too bad if you're looking for 4k!)

I think if you are in the market for a TV - you won't be disappointed by this. $956 is still a great deal. If it does pop up at ~$850 - that makes it a better deal.. but in comparison to other deals out there, $956 is quite great. (Sorry that was a couple of circular sentences). Only thing to consider is if 55" is big enough for your needs/if you would like the 65" version for $500 more, that may come down to $1200 ish in the near future. Decisions…

        Good luck!

      • $876 was an ebay 20% off special when it was selling for $1095.

  • Is this NSFW? what the heck is she holding.

I agree with the image quality of the TV very good. Excellent contrast, but not very bright so not a good choice for a bright area. Also this TV has a 120Hz panel so looks smoother than a lot of cheap UHD TVs that are only 60Hz.

  • Am really surprised their are any left of this model, Sony discontinued the 55" FHD model in favour of the 4k version. JBHifi did a sales job on this model at $1095 and if you haggled, you could get them down to $980. So does TGG have he last of the stock??? I personally would be surprised to see it go much lower. If they did I would be tempted to replace my 50" B version with this, even with all its idiosyncrasies.
