  • As much as I enjoyed this game I don't think it deserves comparisons to ico, journey and the like. Still a good game though.

    • I am not familiar with those games, can you explain some more why you think that?

      • A lot of people mention beyond good and evil together with ico and other games that first advanced the notion that video games could be considered art.

I was and remain very impressed by ico, journey, shadow of the colossus and even the last of us because they elicit a genuine sense of pathos and sympathy for the characters. I liked beyond good and evil but I honestly can't say that I had any profound emotional response to it.

Gameplay wise it could also be a bit grindy, sort of like a marioesque series of side tasks. And graphically it was serviceable but certainly not spectacular even for 2003.

        • This is almost certainly the HD remaster, though. Which is significantly better looking.

Edit: wait, maybe not. What the hell.

        • being a console exclusive harmed ico pretty heavily. hard to like a game if you can't play it on your platform

    • well gameplay is different from those games but story wise its very deep and engaging

not sure why you got negged so much for expressing an innocent opinion

      • few people think it is always JV in the first comment and neg it no matter what he says or before reading ;)

        • what is JV?
          doesn't seem fair either way….

        • @rt1111: Surrender your OZB badge here. Its been more than 1 year you have been here and u dont know JV?

      • Low quality console war bait, typically posted by people who want to start internet arguments or haven't played many quality games

    Sequel on NX?

    • +2

Apparently. It's also in quite early development too.

      • +3

quite early in development? interesting. i read yesterday that it's been in development apparently since 2008 :|

        • +1

But that's preliminary development I think. Doom (2016) was in development since 2007 or something then got scrapped several times and restarted. I think they've only just started confused development, so it's not just tests and things.

        • +1

@MrSammyMcG: Well, that still sounds like they are stuck in the "development hell"…

Doom has been scrapped completely and redeveloped a few times from what I read/heard before.

        • +1

@CheapCoffee: Yeah i think so. Well maybe they were offing and inning it again and they've started proper development now. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it turns out when it's released.

        • @CheapCoffee: this is the correct summary indeed. the Doom we got in 2016 was not the same Doom in development since 2007.

  • I've tried a few times to finish this game but never got around to it. It's a great game with everything in it that I usually like but I always kept forgetting about it. Chances are I'll give it another go.

    • Sounds like Futurama the show everyone claims they love to watch but then when ratings come around no one does.

      • futurama fans stream and timeshift. ratings boxes only account for live viewings last time i checked. the problem is not with the viewers, the problem is with the outdated methodology. this is why 16 and pregnant is still on television

        • Well you should check more.

    • same. it is a great game but somehow i couldnt finish it back in time.

Loved this game on Gamecube. Kudos to Ubisoft by making great older games free.

    Ozbargain reminder set :)

  • Does anyone know if the September game is accessible now in Oct?

    • +9

I just claimed The Crew which is the September reward.

    • Just claimed it. Seems like it'll be up until the 12th.

  • Fantastic game! Shame they never completed the sequel :(

    • +1

Actually they recently confirmed the sequel is happening likely 2018 or maybe even late 2017.

      • Oh wow! Yeah just found the confirmation on ubisoft Facebook page. That's great news :)

  • I remember this being a bit buggy for me on steam, would this version be any better?

    • +1

      It would be the same

      • ta

  • one of the best games made story wise and game play, it didnt do well though in terms of sales so sequel was dropped. i played this way back still have fond memories

  • +5

Almost shelled out a fiver for this on PSN last week! wipes brow

    • +1

The PSN version is an HD re-master featuring improved character models and textures, as well as a modified soundtrack. Achievements, trophies and online leaderboards were also added. The HD re-master has not been released on PC :(

  • I remember this being a really good game (I probably still have it somewhere), but I haven't played it in over a decade. Hopefully it holds up.

  • I don't really care that much about Beyond Good and Evil, but I just grabbed The Crew for free from the link! Thanks!!

  • Site is getting hammered this morning by the look of it.

  • As with last month, I can't successfully log in - and I have no idea if i managed to claim the previous game or not in the end. Grrr.
Thanks for alerting us to the new offer though.

    • +1

I cant log in either, just get the ubisoft club circle thing.

      EDIT:
I can log in and access the site just not UB30! not sure whats going on.

  • I can't find the darn link; it just takes me into my ubi account.
Do I need uplay software installed to claim it?

    • +1

I had to do it through the uplay client as the UBI30 page didnt load for me but it loaded through the uplay client.

      • I remember last time I attempted to download the ubi client which was about 80mb in itself then it started downloading and apply multiple patches/updates of large file size… so I cancelled. Too much risk for me on mobile data.

        • It was approximately 80 MB download, but it didnt download any additional packages so hope this helps you.
