Rats!
Can led down lights be fitted to an ordinary halogen downlight socket if its the same connection? Thanks
Yes, though the dimmer may not work if they're 12V lights.
Yeh no dimmer anyways sweet thanks.
I'm not sure whether it's compatible with my existing electronic transformer but worth a try. If it doesn't work then return it for a refund.
Are the candle/mini bulbs suitable for enclosed fixtures?
Nice to see the non standard bulb sizes (mini ES and mini BC).
yes that's my main reason for posting :)
was just about to jump on this and but 5xE14 for my vanity but seems like Ikea have added a range on their LED bulbs which end up cheaper
thanks but they're not as bright and more expensive (200lm-400lm $8.99-$9.99 each, except 200lm opal white 2pk $8.99) :)
Sorry the two pack was the one I was referring to since I need dimmer lights
(G13 8w 1700lm or S14s/S14d 5w 330lm) $19.99
1700 lumens is an awful lot for an 8w globe. Given the rest of the figures quoted, could it be 700 lumens?
Or its an 18 watt bulb because these seem to be a bit lower efficiency compared to other brands.
18W according to this page. Title mentions 8W, but details mention 18W. Given the 1700 lumens, and Luminous efficacy of 94 lumen/wattage, that makes it 18W.
https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-8-o…One alternate if Aldi sell out, is OSRAM ($20 for 1700 lumens 19W 40,000hr lifespan):
https://www.bunnings.com.au/osram-19w-led-daylight-g13-tube-…Aldi version is 30,000hr lifespan.
No mentions of warranty on either product.
thanks - deal updated :)
I bought the Aldi 18W LED tube for $20 and it's 1700 lumens is slightly brighter (confirmed with camera) than my existing 36 W fluoro tube of 3100 lumens….WHAT. I am glad I got to try out the brightness as I was expecting the LED to be half the brightness and then returning it to Aldi. Comes with 3 year warranty.
The LED light fixed the issue with the Plasma TV screen cutting out for 1 second when turning on the old fluoro with 80 W starter. The replaced LED tube with dummy starter causes no power outage on the plasma :)
I can only assume that the LED's 1700 lumens is focused downwards, while the fluoro's 3100 lumens (initial life) is spread 360 and has lost a bit of it's initial lumens.
Do they have the bulbs with motion detection sensor?
