        • @eug:

The primary purpose of a car battery is to start the car. By testing it WITH the car, you eliminate the variable of whether you test method is suitable or not.

A couple of halogen lamps as a load will test whether the battery is capable of illuminating a couple of halogen lamps. That doesn't mean the battery will start a car.

However, if the battery will start a car, there is no point testing further. It's done it's job :-)

        • @llama: OK, you do your tests your way, I do tests my way.

      • Thanks.. +1 @ eug

    • How do i test car battery with these? Do i place the black lead to the negative side of car battery and red lead to positive side of battery?

To the people above to ask why we are becoming a nanny state, this question should provide an insight.

And what is the usual range? Above 12v for car battery?

And these other 2 questions just reinforce it.

The answers to these are "if you need to ask, then you should not be using this".

Hope people that bought this don't actually use it… you're just asking for trouble.

15 years ago I paid $99 for this thing…. And was needed for electronics class

    • Better finish building the time machine & take one of these back 15 years & invest the $99😀

My first (analog) meter in childhood dates to far earlier. By my Elec Engineering uni studies, the massive & expensive precision (analog) meter I bought was housed in a wooden case! When digital meters arrived, I could only dream - they were bloody expensive. Now they're cheap enough to almost be disposable items.
