Hi all,
Long time user but first time poster so please go easy! Got an email for a 2 day 30% off sale. I've tried on sale items and it appeared to work also. Code seems to be generic so please feel free to use!

Do they still do the occasional 50% off?
I think this was the last one.

Up until this sale, the 50% off sales were my yearly source of work shoes, i'd buy one year in advance and keep the new shoes for weddings etc. Good shoes but I find it hard to justify the prices.
Same I'm always buying in advance. I still have a pair or two new in boxes so I can afford to wait a bit longer for 50% off. Their shoes have never really changed though, I keep rotating through the same 2 or 3 styles.
quality is good, rarely a bargain though.
Well, you pay for it.
i have one of this http://www.florsheim.com.au/shop/style/273510-D84.html
much better quality than most of Myer shoes and comfy.
Those are some of the most hideous shoes I've ever seen.

TL;DR - Florsheim is expensive but totally worth it.
A few years ago, as a test, I bought a pair of Florsheim (Ledger) and pit them up against a pair of Julius Marlows (I forget the style). I took turns wearing them one week at a time, 5 days a week, so they had pretty even wear.
The JM's were more comfortable, because of the fancy cushioned soles, etc. but that didn't last and I had to replace them not quite a year later (which means essentially 6 months of wear, since I alternated shoes). The insole is also worn out and needs to be replaced.
The Florsheim sizing was a bit weird and took a while to get right initially. I'm normally a UK7, but had to get UK6. But TWO YEARS later they are still going strong. The shoe is still completely fine and maybe I might need to replace the heel in another 6 months or so.
They're definitely up there almost on par with a genuine Italian leather shoe.
This. I work in an office and do maybe 5-700o steps a day in Florshiem shoes. before that I had 2 pairs of JM's and they lasted a year tops. I'm on my second pair of Flo's now and am coming up on 2 years. The other pair were 2 years old as well, and they are actually fine apart from a number of chips off the toe.
Highly recommended.
Have you guys also compared Hush Puppies ?
I alternate 2 pairs at the moment, 1 pair on Mon/Wed, the other pair on Tues/Thurs (I just alternate Mon-Thurs to let them air out) and wear casual shoes on Fridays and the weekend.
1 pair I had to get replaced (Myer swapped under warranty) after about 6 monmths as the inner lining was starting to fall apart. Of my 2 current pairs, 1 is looking OK, but the other is also starting to wear on the inside. Dont know if it was the replacement pair, or the pair I bought around the same time as the replacement.
Hush Puppies used to be a good show. Now they are terrible. They wear way too quickly, particularly in the sole and lining. At least that's what I've found with the most recent pair I bought in a Myer sale.
I usually buy them for the extra wide fit shoes. But I'm thinking I may need to look into another brand next time.
Totally agree, i use to buy hush puppies all the time, then about 3 years ago they went to hell
They dont even last 12 months now - very comfy but they dont do the time
Also dont the Julius marloe test / Florsheim wins hands down
I have the opposite experience. Florsheim shoes last only about year for me before the sole wear out at the heal and the insole start to peel off. Whereas the Julius Marlows' Crystal Sole shoes lasts me a lot longer. I find the quality of the JM's are better in that they don't fall apart as fast. I haven't bought Florsheim in years, maybe they have upped their quality.
The new cushioning feeling in the insole for both brands don't last though. Had to by new insoles for them both.
BTW Just checking JM website… They hav 50% sale on selected items at the moment.

Agree. It just depends which Florsheims you buy. My current shoes are Trentham, but I don't think these are available anymore. The Houston and Berkshire are both close.
The only shoes that will last you and are repairable/resolable are of welted (or stitched) construction with leather soles and rubber heels. My current pair has been resoled 3 times with the upper now showing its age despite my best efforts to polish them. So I will likely toss once this sole is worn out. Resoling costs me about $90 for a $200 plus pair of quality made shoes, so I've got my money's worth over I guess about 4 to 5 years.
When I walk I tend to roll over and severely wear the outer edges. Cheaper shoes tend to split open on me (either the upper or the sole) and never lasting more than 6 months. Full leather lasts.
I've always alternated use with 2 pairs especially in wet weather. My alternating spare pair has been resoled once and has much life left.
So this deal looks attractive but only if I buy leather welted.
Code works with their clearance/sales section BUT they've taken a majority of the items out of clearance/sales and put them back up at full price.
They've learnt a trick or two from Dickie Smith. :p
Remember to use CashRewards - although it may not work as this 30% off code is not listed on their site.
I just ordered a pair of Brando (style) black/dark-brown leather boots, made in Italy, RRP $349, on sale for $199, paid $139 delivered.
Received my new boots last night. Very comfy - and the sole is very quiet when I walk compared to my Hush Puppies.
thanks op. bought one
Australian shoes are total rubbish (inc. Florsheim), if you can get Allen Edmonds its worth the extra imho. Check out Meermin as well.
Better leather quality rather than cheap thin leather, goodyear welted and greater longevity. Also more comfortable.
They aren't total rubbish - enough with the hyperbole
They are more suitable for 90% of guys working in office environments
I have 2 pairs of Loakes and 1 pair of Florsheims in my current rotation - sure, the Florsheims don't have as high a build quality but they are less than half the price of the Loakes.
Big fan of the Stacy Adams range, the rest of their range look and feel like old-people shoes to me (way too wide, thick soles, ugly).
unfortunately it looks like the vast majority of Stacy Adams shoes have been taken off the site while this sale is on :(
How is the sizing? I'm usually a UK9 with wide feet but have gotten burned on oversized shoes etc.
I'm a UK 8 in Julius Marlow/Windsor Smith and am a UK 8 in florsheim
i should say their normal range is 'wider' than stacy adams but they still fit my narrow feet the same - they just look wider/chunkier and IMO are a bit ugly.
Aren't these shoes $50 on special sales? How is 30% off $200 RRP a bargain.
Not that I know of. Do you have a link?
To be honest 50% is a great bargain and I've had up to 80% off from Clarks before (thanks Ozbargain!). BUT, this is always run out styles and limited sizes and more often than not there is an issue with the shoe in question (scuffed up, marks, issues with wear, looks terrible, etc).
So I guess if you are into the thrill of the hunt you could wander the shopping centers looking for the perfect fit, style and size on sale. OR you could order online save 30% and make sure you get the right style, size and fit without the walking required. Of course if it doesn't fit and you have to return it's a real PITA.
The other thing is that this is 30% of some shoes already marked down, which is a significant saving..
For that price, you can buy 3 pairs elsewhere! It's not like it's a special design or anything.
If you really like the design, buy 3 of the same cheaper then throw them out every year, you get 3 years use for the price of one..
Let me guess, you get your suits from Tarocash and your shoes from YD?
Florsheim is absolutely a league above what you might be getting for a third of the price elsewhere. I used to be a big Julius Marlow fan (as they were cheap and stylish) but their shoes just do not last at all. wont be buying any more after my current couple of pairs finally run out (one of them is right on the verge of going in the bin)
It IS A SPECIAL DESIGN OR SOMETHING. Quality footwear with quality materials built to last with orthopedic support that won't cause plantar fasciitis, blisters, bunions or other foot related problems. Until you've had a foot problem caused by Kmart/Myer specials and then bought a decent $200 pair of shoes you can't appreciate the difference reflected in the pricing.
This kind of thinking is why the earth is getting littered with cheap clothing and shoes
In store sales start Wednesday!
Nice needed a new pair of work shoes, I'll give these a try.
I definitely recommend Florsheim, i own two pairs (a black and a brown) and rotate them. The black pair is about had it but it's almost three years old.
Perfect timing! My current pair of shoes are Florsheim and they're pretty much falling apart. Can't quite bring myself to buy a pair at full price, but for a pair on sale + coupon discount on top of that, can't say no to that.
How do these compare to a nice pair of lime green Croks.
I did the comparison between Florsheim and Crocs, alternating each week. I noticed that nobody would notice me at all when I was wearing the Florsheims, whereas on the days I was wearing Crocs more people in the street were giving me high fives, the boss let me ride his unicorn, the babes were practically lining up to ask me out, and because it was lime green, they wanted to lick them which I couldn't decide if awesome or gross.
Would choose Crocs over Florsheim evertym.
hi op - wondering if you received an email about a in-store sale for imperial club members starting today/tomorrow.
if it's a generic one any chance you could email it to me?
thanks!
Thanks OP, I got the CAGE in Dark Brown http://www.florsheim.com.au/shop/style/223478-010.html. I can confirm these shoes are very comfortable and long lasting. I have worn my current pair for work every day for the last two years.
Thks better than their buy 2 get one free offer …..especially if you don't need 3 pairs of shoes or they don't have 3 pairs you like.
