      crikey she's a ripper

      • Oh and I thought you said Aussies done need faster speed…

    • +1

Yeah I'm not fond of the shape either.

Samsung took an SSD drive and made it smaller and turned it into a USB stick.

  • +1

Great deal. Any idea if we can rip the SSD out of that and use it in a PC?

    • +5

I don't believe so. From what I can read it uses the ssd plus technology so the MSY deal for $75 would be better value.

      • +1

Yeah no MSY near me :) Also cool to be able to have it in the small form and swap it out if possible as an extra internal drive. Could just connect via USB3 though, shouldn't be too big a deal !

  • Can we rip it out and use SSD in a computer or laptop?

    • -2

      Yes.

      • +1

But why not just buy SSD? My last Sandisk 250Gb only cost me $77.60.

        • Is that Extreme?

        • @Gaggy:

For that price, no ……but I reckon in real time you won't feel the difference.

        • I mean in real life ….

        • @superforever: Hehe they are both applicable. In real time and real life, most people won't notice the difference unless they are counting with a stopwatch :)

Who is SanDisk trying to fool… Extreme 500 but 240gb?

does the 500 actually stand for anything?

      • +1

        Nice, thanks

        It all make sense now!

In term of speed is it really faster in real life consider USB3 speed.

    • +4

Even via USB 3.0 it's probably faster than any Sata connected LAPTOP drive.

  • I don't need it because I use my portable HDD to back up my macbook air.
But I am tempted to buy this.

  • Can't you just plug your portal hhd into the back of the router?

  • Ok
    I have
320GB HDD, 3 x 500GB HDD, 1TB HDD Portable and 1TB HDD 3.5" and couple of USB 3.0. So should i buy this one?

    • Depends if you need a fast storage device with more reliability but less capacity than a similar priced hard drive

  • It's a bargain if you need one! Otherwise, don't buy and save up for the next bargain!

  • $73.60 with click & collect @ Haymarket store. Win!
    Thanks OP

  • The 480GB version is $160.20 posted from Bing Lee using the same code.

  • (Temporarily) Sold out!

  • Almost grabbed the 120GB thinking I found some extra stock :(

    • Same! But being an even lower price made me think it was too good to be true. Lucky I read the fine print!
