While some might like or use it. The PS4 works just fine with the controller, maybe when it's $25 I'll look at it, but $44 is better spent on games imo

true, but there are times I wish I had a remote for those Netflix sessions. The Controller's battery life isn't great and is made worse when using it for video/spotify (which isn't yet supported).

      • My standard TV remote can control my PS4 just fine (with the hdmi device link setting on the ps4) TV is 6 year old Samsung too.

  • $43.20 on ebay with CUT20

    edit: nvm - different model…

Why no support for Plex?? Would be the only reason for me to consider it.

Ridiculous that they use AAA rather than AA, like the PS3 one.

There are benefits of this, so if you see the benefit go get 'er, but if you just want a remote for navigation and media controls (play/pause/stop/rewind/ff) then you may be able to just use your TV remote. Enable HDMI-CEC in PS4 settings and in your TV. Not for everyone, but it may have saved someone an unnecessary $44.

    • ^^^ THIS ^^^

    • This is what I do, works perfectly well.

Finally a PS4 remote control is coming out in Australia. What took them so damn long. There had been out in the USA for ages.

    • And they've been cheaper on Amazon.

  • I wouldn't use the ps4 as a media player cause for some reason it sounds like garbage compared to my ps3, same speaker same setup, have to turn the volume notch an extra 15 times…

Less omph and lower amp? Yes I've tried all that different settings crap in the ps4.

Please consider the points below before committing to buying!

    1) this is a licensed product made by 3rd party but Sony themselves

    2) the old version of this remote had poor reviews

    3) based on Amazon reviews, this newer version has definitely improved, but still not great, given the high standards Sony had set with the official PS3 remote.

For those who are going to buy, please remember to post some reviews after use as I was really looking forward to this.

    • Thanks for the reminder. Who actually manufactured this remote?

      • +1

A company named pdp, which made some 3rd party peripherals for ps3/4 in the past.

  • +1

Sony tv's remote can control PS4 as well

    • +1

You can say that about most remotes these days as long as your TV supprts cec via hdmi.

Functions are very limited but it does the job.
