LG 24MP48HQ 24" 1080p IPS LED Monitor - $159.20 Delivered @ Dick Smith by Kogan eBay

Just bought this, seems like it has decent reviews. Some people say the stand is a bit flimsy. But LG have a 100% no dead or bright pixel warranty if I remember correctly, so you don't have to worry about being stuck with a monitor that contains dead pixels! It's an IPS panel so colours and angles should be better than TN panels.

Confusingly there is "24MP48HQ" and "24MP48HQ-P" but I fail to see the difference. It seems they dropped the P for Australia.

Cheapest price on staticice is $184, not including delivery, so $159.20 is a pretty good bargain if you're looking for a budget decent 24" IPS panel.

My current samsung is turning on and off every 3 minutes ever since my samsung air conditioner dripped onto the samsung power-brick, perhaps it is time to try another korean company…? :)

Other details- Full spec PDF
Brightness: 250 cd/m2
Surface: Anti-Glare, 3H (I think this is a matte display…)
Connectors: HDMI, D-sub (analog)
Weight with stand: 2.8KG
Response time: 5ms
Resolution: 1920x1080
Power consumption: 25W .
Included: DSE claims only HDMI and power cord. LG spec sheet claims an additional D-Sub cord.

Compared to a 40w, 12 hours a day for a year could yield a power saving of 15w*12*365 = 65.7KW/h, at 26c per KW that's a $17 per year saving ;).
So idk, if you're thinking about upgrading from a more power hungry one, that might be something to consider.

Note: I cannot see any audio output. There's a 360 view of the -P here, pretty damn thin! But it seems it cannot pass-over HDMI audio to an audio jack, so that will be a negative for some people.

revenge purchase for OW's cancelled deal?

Make it $79 and I buy

  • This Looks like better Value for the money, plus has Speakers and Free-Sync which may be a benefit to some. http://www.msy.com.au/viconline/peripherals/17010-viewsonic-…

    • Viewsonic one is NOT IPS Panel, it's TN.

      TN panel

      Not even close, mate.

      Maybe for some.

      Some other differences:
1.3KG heavier, seems not as thin at the back.
TN panel (so angles and colours probably worse, but viewsonic is usually known for good colour)
But being TN, it has a better response rate, 1ms, good for serious gamers, and the included speakers will help for plugging in consoles easily.
More connectors, it has additional audio-in, audio-out, and display port.
Seems to be brighter at 300, vs 250 for LG.

In total with auspost delivery to my place in Brisbane it comes to $196. i.e. $36.80 more than the LG for delivered. Could be worth it if audio-out, speakers and refresh rate are critical.

I can't go back to non-IPS screens though, I need those good colours at all angles, never again TN! IPS panels just look better.

      • Thanks. i'm still on the look out and your Response has helped with my decision.

I bought this last time Kogan had the 20% off sale to add to my existing LG monitor. I have to agree though the stands are bit flimsy and if you touch the stand, it shakes the monitor. But other than that, not too bad for the price.

  • anyone tried the Kogan 27" fhd? $200 shipped seems alright if it is ips which I am assuming it is from the 178° viewing angles

  • I don't see VESA mount points is that correct?

    • no VESA or any mounting points afaik.

  • Is this mountable?

  • Pity it is LG, their customer support is the worse.
