Sydney to Europe One-Way from $423 with Scoot and Norwegian Air Via Bangkok - October Travel (More Dates Available)

230

Hey Ozbargainers

I just booked a one way ticket from Sydney to Berlin very cheaply for travel in October. I'm sure there are similarly cheap flights from other cities in Australia to Bangkok. All flights are on the new Boeing 787 dreamliner (if that counts for something). The reviews for Norwegian air's 787-8 dreamliner flight, despite being a budget airline seem very good - at least they have in-flight entertainment unlike Scoot.

Sydney - Bangkok $221
Sydney - Stockholm $423
Sydney - Berlin $471

Melbourne - Bangkok $251
Melbourne - Stockholm $453
Melbourne - Berlin $501

Bangkok - Stockholm $202
Bangkok - Berlin $250

Additional cheap destinations:
Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Helsinki, Lulea, Malmo, Oslo, Paris

Example dates:
12th October
Sydney - Bangkok via Singapore with Scoot Airlines

17th October
Bangkok - Stockholm
OR
Bangkok - Berlin (via Stockholm) for $50 more

Hint: For the Norwegian flight, book using the Swedish or Norwegian site (I found paying in SEK the cheapest), this will save you around $20.

You can use this link to see all destinations and prices from Bangkok on Norwegian:

http://www.norwegian.com/en/destinations/ (just select Bangkok from the drop-down)

And here's some direct links to see the different cheap flights from BKK—

    Stockholm in October
    Stockholm in November
    Copenhagen in October
    Copenhagen in November
    Oslo in November

    • Thanks for that inherentchoice, I was looking for that link to add to the post :)

      • Scoot flights arrive to DMK airport whereas Norwegian departs from BKK. You might want to add that to the post.

But apparently there is a free transfer bus for the 50km journey across town.

    • I tend to find that site incredibly useless. It's generally full of people who don't understand the industry whinging about trivial things or mistakes they've made themselves.

That being said I'm surprised Norwegian have so many good reviews on there! I've never flown their 787 but they're my preferred short haul airline in Europe.

They seem to have 50 Pound flights to USA from UK soon

        • Ryanair have been promising that forever, so I'll believe it when I see it! After the meltdowns they suffered with their initial long haul launches, they might decide to slow down a bit

        • @callum9999: They need the new 787 or A350 to launch long haul services. But both planes are already sold out for the next few years…

          http://www.airlinereporter.com/2015/03/ryanair-to-fly-across…

AirAsia tried it with a A340 to London but failed due to high fuel prices and because the older aircraft burns too much fuel. However Scoot, Norwegian and Jetstar have shown that the 787 will work.

        • @inherentchoice: Yes, they've had a different excuse as to why they can't start but will be soon for over a decade now!

Jetstar doesn't price its fares as low as this and it's yet to be seen whether Norwegian long haul is actually profitable (its been a source of huge losses and major problems in the very recent past) - and again, that's been off the back of much higher fares than £50!

I'm not completely pessimistic (if an airline can make it work it's Norwegian), just not completely convinced . I'll believe it when I see it!

Full service one way flights are $294 - $348 to LHR with Vietnam and Malaysian airlines out of BKK and KUL, both first fly you to their respective hubs in HAN and KUL with the flights on 787 and a380. You get Qantas SC and point with Malaysian. Have not worked out the Norwegian flights with baggage add ons etc, this is purely just extra info for those looking. If you can get to HKT you can get business return to LHR for $1,573.

  • double post

  • how did you book the SYD - BKK leg?
