$20 deposit initially when you sign up and then $20 security deposit anytime Vaya wants which drains the discount. Not sure how easy it is to get it back. Wont recommend them when other similar plans without discounts available.

    • link please?

      • +1

The 'link' comes in the form of an email to you once you sign up, without telling you. Vaya are shady AF and I wouldnt touch them with a barge pole.

        • "Instead, we've decided to opt for, like some of our competitors, a once-off, refundable Security Deposit of $20 per mobile service. This Security Deposit will be required of all of our customers, at a rate of $20 per mobile service, and will be drawn from your nominated payment source along with your next bill payment (this month). We will only apply the Security Deposit in the event of non-payment of your monthly invoice or on your final invoice (should you ever decide to leave Vaya). In the event of having it applied to your final invoice for your final service, any remaining balance will be directly refunded to you."

        • thanks.

I have no tolerance of ugly fees like sign up fee or security deposit if more than $2, not matter how good their plan looks (like tpg/lc used to be).

I will keep away from them.

        • @lovbargain: The shame of it is I had no problem with their service while using it, apart being charged per Megabyte rather than KB.

        • @thedude23: it has changed, now they are charging per KB

        • @eisniwre: Im with telstra now so this deal is meaningless to me. Vaya is one of the few companies I openly bash because of how they have treated me and many others.

      Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback. Just as a heads up, we actually removed these in January, so there is no $20 deposit on sign up or security deposit. If you have any other concerns or feedback, please send through.

      Cheers, Ian

      • What about the customers you ripped off to make your company's capital. I am sure you were forced to stop that.
Did you return it and if not, why?

I'm currently with them on the $18 plan (so 1.5gb).

Loads of other carriers offer more at the same price price, dodo does 2gb, jeenee does 2gb, telechoice does 2gb on telstra for $2 more.

Plus none of them take a $20 'security deposit' which is some shady stuff.

      Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. We actually removed the security deposit in January this year. As an existing customer, you may be interested in our Price Beat Guarantee. If you see a cheaper comparable plan out in the market, then give us a call and we will match that price and give you your next month free. Find out more here https://secure.vaya.net.au/?option=Vaya%20Price%20Beat%20Gua…

      Cheers, Ian

      • Oh this is interesting, I was just about to move to Jeenee. I may have to give you guys a call about this price beat.

If you removed the security deposit, did you refund existing customers?

Edit: looked into the Price Beat Guarantee, i'm sure the'll find a way to wriggle out of it. Mainly because they offer $650 worth of calls, dodo offers $500, jeenee offers 200 mins. I mean i'd prefer the extra 500mb instead of $100 more of calls…..guess cant hurt to ask (since i need to ask about the security deposit anyway).

        • +1

Certainly, if you contact us via live chat or email then we will refund your $20 deposit.

Just shout out if you are having difficulty with this and I can look into it.

          Cheers, Ian

Ian, unfortunately you will not find much love for vaya here..too many ppl including myself have been burnt before..

  • get half price pre paid sim from pretty much any shop. $15 saved.

  • Their 8GB for $36pcm - I pay the $4 more & get the same GB with Optus, which are endlessly better (Been with both comps) & my hair is growing back nicely now…

  • I left Vaya over a year ago to Virgin and have never looked back. So has anything changed since then?

    Customer service fails.

  • Vaya… NO WAY

    • -2

I think the Vaya rep negged us

      • +1

Isnt that against site rules? Rep's negging comments in their own threads? Im probly wrong, I just assumed.

  • hmm probably the issue is with the promo code, iphone.
i wish they use android, then probably this thread will get more positives..

I used to be with them. A nightmare. Zero understanding on my situation last I was there.
    Also, terrible customer service.

  • Is there an exit fee if I join and I'm not happy with the service?

    • Hi there,

There are no exit fees. You can leave whenever you please :)

      Cheers, Ian

      • Hello can you join any time and will i get charged extra say do you have pro rate charges

        • Hi there,

Of course, you can join anytime and no you won't be charged any extra. If you join halfway through the month then you will be credited 50% of your plan cost the following month (i.e. you'll get 50% off). Hope that makes sense! Let me know if you have any other questions.

          Cheers, Ian

        • Can you explain what you mean ill be credited back 50 percent if I join half way through the year

        • @Tallguy9999999: sure thing. It is not done yearly, it is monthly. So for example - if you connected to our Unlimited S $16/month plan on the 15th of September (exactly halfway through September, which has 30 days), your initial payment would be $16. However, assuming no additional usage or promos, your next bill would be $8. This is because you only got half a month when you first connected on the 15th of September.

Hope that makes sense but if not, happy to answer any further questions.

          Cheers, Ian

        • Say if i get the 36 dollar plan do you pay up front

        • @Tallguy9999999: Yes your initial payment would be $36.

        • So if you pay up front and you join at the start or half way through do you get charged extra

        • @Tallguy9999999: Hi again, no you won't get charged extra at all. Your first payment will always be the full plan cost, however, the following month you will be credited depending on when you signed up. I.e. if you joined halfway through the month, you will only pay half the plan cost the following month.

          Cheers, Ian
