  • What's "activity button" on those devices?

    • +1

The activity button on these remotes generally activates a 'macro' function. E.G. you may have an activity setup called 'PS4' which changes your TV to HDMI1, turns on your stereo system and turns on the PS4 etc with one click of the button.

I have one setup to 'watch tv' one for 'PS3', one for 'Media PC' etc. Hope that helps

    • Device buttons
Control up to eight devices individually using these four Device
buttons, each with a short press or a longer two second press.
Each Device button will light up when an IR command is being sent

      TV/Media
      Cable/PC
      AVR/Game
      DVD/Music

Only limitation of this is no LCD to add extra custom buttons like the 650.
Only one activity button. Watch TV.
Manually turning on additional devices and selecting appropriate input on TV.

Unless you really need one.. I'd wait until the Harmony 600 is ~$34 again.

    • You might be waiting a while, the last time the 650 dropped to $34.00 was in 2013

I have both and they serve different purposes, the 650 is great but it chews through the batteries because of the lcd screen. You really need to buy rechargeable batteries to run the thing.
The 350 is perfect for watching tv with an amp and pvr.

  • Yeah, don't bother with this one. Spend the extra and get a Harmony 650.

    • Why what's wrong with it? Have you used it? I've had mine for over a year and it works great.
When I want to watch tv I just hit the "Watch TV" activity button & it turns on my amp, pvr & tv all at once.
The 5 favourite buttons are awesome, I have set them up for the 2 digit channels like Gem, 7 Mate, SBS HD etc. so I don't have to hit 2 buttons, something the 650 doesn't have.

I've had the 650 for longer and there is no way I would tell anyone to get it over the 350 unless they need more activity buttons and have rechargeable batteries.

This one is just horribly slow in responding to keys. And it can only be programmed with active internet connection via and if Logitech website is down (used to be when I got mine 2 years ago), you won't be able to program it.

Mele F10 from Aliexpress is way, way better.

Mine is not slow at all, I'm not even sure what you mean?
Yes you need a computer to program it, but that's because Logitech have a data base of over 270 000 devices.
I program the 650 via the website also, is there another way?
I've never seen the Logitech website down, but you hardly ever need it, just the initial set up & when you want to add another device

I've never heard of the Mele F10.

        • The reaction on buttons is slow. If you never had any better remote, you probably won't notice but it is slower that original Soniq TV remote, for example.

When programming requires internet to download codes for the specific device - I understand this part. What I hate is the customisation you make locally is still stored on the server (why?!!!) and you need a login/password, and this was unreliable. And the app is shiny and nice and therefore inconvenient to use.

Also, there is no way to program keys with additional codes which are missing in the database. Soniq TV, for example, has a code to switch to HDMI#2 input without opening "inputs" menu but neither Soniq remote not Logitech database knows about, I learnt this from an android phone with the Anymote app installed which lets you experiment.

Mele F10 is smaller, faster and - the best part - can act as both IR and wireless USB keyboard (controlling HTPC). It sucks too but for different reasons :)

      • I haven't actually used it, I guess more for people who want to be able to have more than one activity programmed and control lots of devices, I would avoid it.

I have my 650 set up with the following activities:
        -TV
        -Media centre (an rPi)
        -Movie (via BD player)
        -Music (bluetooth on AVR)
        -Chromecast

It controls six devices and I just don't think the 350 would handle it too well. Happy to be proven wrong though based on someone's actual experience.

There's also the on-remote options to adjust some of the delays on processing to ensure commands are not missed (extra ones not available through the setup application), I don't know if the 350 has this feature.

Just the amount of added features makes it seem worthwhile to me.
