Ben & Jerry's 458ml Ice Cream Pints $10 (Save $2) @ Woolworths

220

Excellent deal for BJ addicts. Very rare to see any discount at all on BJs. My partner and I are big fans of BJs so I will be forwarding this to her too.

Highly recommend choc chip cookie dough for newcomers. Ben and Jerry's are really on a different level compared to other supermarket brands of ice cream.

HAHAHAHA…sorry couldn't help myself with the immaturity. Ben & Jerry's…BJs!

    • You deserve a +1

      • Thanks mate!

        • BJ hahahaha๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

        • @Bargain4Days: Can't stop thinking about getting one now haha!

      • where is the +1 vote from you for the deal?

    • Oh my virgin eyes!

      Maybe B&Js is more appropriate

    • +1

I saw it , I thought it hahahaha

How much is a soft serve cone at Hungry Jack's these days? 50c?

Why get one BJ when you can get 20 HJs for the same price?

    • is that the same mob that made Dickings cider ?

    • +1

So when these are out of stock I can legitimately ask at the customer service desk "Excuse me, do you have any $10 BJs left?"

  • +3

    $2 saving!! OMG!

    • Ben and Jerry's are rarely ever on sale at all. This is a good price unless you want to buy stock that expired 6 months ago from NQR (and only in 2 or 3 flavours)

  • +7

Honestly I think Ben and Jerries is a waste of money. I swear the original ben and jerries didn't taste as cheap as it does now.

You can get 10x better ice cream by going to Cold Rock and buying a take home pack…

Either that or buy the cheap $5 supermarket branded ice cream.

    • -1

Lol no. Black and Gold ice cream is not the same as B&J.

      • +5

        Get off your high horse.

I'm talking about products like Coles "Caramel Popcorn Ice Cream 500mL " $4 everyday.

Or Woolworths Ice Cream Nuts About You 500ml ($2 this week) ($4 normally)

And most of the other brands regularly have 50% off.

A fraction of the cost. And honestly if you are happy to pay the extra $10 for ice cream, then get something decent like cold rock.

        • Nup, while they are also good, you can still taste the difference. Also I'm pretty sure Cold Rock is more expensive than B&J's. A scoop of that is like $5, so not sure where you're going with that.

        • Whilst taste is completely subjective, I definitely agree. Ben & Jerrys doesnt seem to cut it to me.

        • @Orpheus:

Cold rock have a take home pack, a little more expensive but tastes a lot better then ben and jerries..

    • Man, Cold Rock is the best, but when you measure any travel against the convenience of wherever you shop, it's just not the same. $5 can get you a 2lt tub of decent brand ice cream most weeks

    • +1

Most ice cream sold in supermarkets (with the notable exceptions being haagen-dasz and homer hudson when they were sill sold) have a much higher air content than ben and jerry's. BJs, H-D et al are low overrun, which means that they are more dense, have less air, and just feel and taste more premium

      • You are right but its still well overpriced.

You can compare weight or nutritional information to see for yourself.

        • Overpriced compared to what? You're not comparing apples to oranges.

        • @Orpheus:

Its overpriced because its overpriced, nothing needed to compare to.

      • great point, it is such a rort that an aerated product is allowed to be sold on volume. And to add insult to injury, this is claiming to be a pint which is actually 568ml in Australia, not the US version of 473ml, then this is even less at 458ml ??

  • +2

$2 saving and still $10… as BT would say BOY'O'BOY WOWEE!!!!!!!! Someone get my a mop and bucket I have just soiled myself.

  • +2

Ouww.. anyone in ozbargain actually buy B&J rather than stock up during free truck events?

    • +1

I've twice won/had BJ delivered to my office (about 50 tubs), which ended up in me taking about 10 tubs home each time. It makes me feel better very occasionally (I think three times so far?) paying $10 for 1 tub. :)

      • +1

How did you won 50 tubs of BJ? Is there a competition?

        • It was probably 4 years ago, I think when they were just starting up in Australia. They had competitions where you could get B&J delivered to your office. They did 2 or 3 offices each Friday. I don't think many people were entering because I actually won 3 times (the 2nd time I wouldn't be at the office that day so I declined the win).

      • +1

        Take home BJs, winning.

        • Take home BJs, winning.

You don't only have to bring them home as Hugh Grant demonstrated in an excellent example of why you should wear your glasses when shopping.

  • +2

    Still overpriced.

  • +1

Find B&J too expensive in terms of how much ice cream you get. When I lived in the UK it was way cheaper. Personally Connoisseur ice cream is not bad when it's on half price special and their new Brooklyn range is pretty good.

  • Excellent deal for BJ addicts.

Your mate Bill was a huge fan of BJs as well.

    • Richard is another BJ addict.

      • Richard is another BJ addict.

Yep I know a Dick as well that is a fan.

  • 458ml… for $10? Dreaming!

  • how do BJs compare with Connoisseur??

    • B&J have chunky bits (walnuts, chocolate fish, chocolate covered caramel) and sometimes a couple of ice-cream flavours swirled together and/or sauce throughout. There's just more going on in the tub. They're both good quality ice-cream. I think all the stuff going into the tub can make it quite sweet and harder to eat more of, personally.

  • uesed to like a good bj but since learning how do make it myself i haven't looked back,, and it's cheaper

    • Do you use an ice cream maker, or is there a way to do it without a single purpose appliance ?

      • Ice cream maker, For us that thing is worth its' weight in gold

  • I bought one of each flavour from this deal i posted ;
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/245385

I'd honestly say that it is really good ice cream , little too sweet though and sometimes makes your throat feel like there is phlegm(depending on flavour).

I prefer haagen daz at this price range. I chowed down 1 tub in front of the telly and it didnt make me feel like drinking a glass of water.

    • +3

little too sweet though and sometimes makes your throat feel like there is phlegm(depending on flavour).

A good serving of BJs will do that.

    • +1

I've been making my way through the haagen-dasz flavours since they've come out. Honestly think they're a bit hit and miss. The chocolate one is good, as are the caramel and biscuit ones

  • +1

Turns out the reason it's so expensive is two-fold:
    1) The ice-cream can ONLY be manufactured at authorised BJ factories, all of which are in the US. So all BJ ice cream is imported.
    2) BJ have a pretty responsible product in terms of where they source the ingredients and components from. This kind of social responsibility obviously ups the cost significantly more than the barely milk-based Woolies/Coles brand stuff.

That said, I'm not much of a fan. All of it tastes of a chalky, grainy texture to me. The flavours are good, but the texture really puts me off.

    • -1

All of that can be true.. and it probably costs them $2 to make and ship to Australia.

      • Yeah but price is perception. That's why people can get excited when $10 for less than 500mls!

  • This is how I would justify myself if I'm going to buy it:
I would spend $12-$15 without much thinking for 2 cone of ice cream at gelato bar.
1 tub of this will get you more than 2 cone for $10… bargain!!!
