      • good find :)

        • but see what email you receive when you donate here

        • @snapper: This is really strange, when I donated I got this:

          Tax Receipt
          Reference: XXX
          Date: Wed Sep 14 2016 10:22:50 GMT+0000 (UTC)
          Donation to YGAP 50

          Contribution to processing costs 2

          Total $52

          Donation in AUD
          Donation Received from:
          XXXX

For donations in AUD: If you would like a tax deductible receipt please forward this email to [email protected] within the next 60 days.
For donations in USD: YGAP Inc. is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. All donations are tax deductible.

        • @barbedwire: Yep, same here. I forwarded the email as instructed and got a response:

Thank you for email and for your generous donation to the Polished Man campaign.
Global Development Group (GDG) will issue you with a tax deductible receipt within the next 60 days.

        • @snapper: I am claiming this as tax deduction.

  • One of the more controversial posts here.

Free burgers but its a tad unethical to claim burgers but not do anything. Great to see a link go up, will definitely donate if I end up getting some free burgers, but the above post of the breakdown of where the donations are spent is alarming.

    • They had the option to make a donation necessary before being able to sign up to grilld burgers.

      They chose not to.

      Problem solved.

  • Not worth it. The guilt would sour the taste of the burgers.

  • +3

Interesting to compare the % of funds that actually get spent on the cause to Movember who spend 86% on men's health initiatives https://au.movember.com/about/money

  • Not seeing any "free burgers" check box on the 2nd signup page. Am I missing something?

    • +1

It's a newsletter signup on the 2nd page

  • Clicked on the newsletter signup but am I meant to receive any confirmation or anything ?

  • +1

If anyone wants to see their own proof of the Grill'd part of this deal, refer to page 9 of the Starter Kit

  • +1

Won't the person serving you at Grilld ask to see your polished finger and then decline service if you don't have it? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • +1

Quickly whip out some nail polish and proceed to paint your middle finger before presenting it to the staff ?

      • Wow that sounds like a really good deal. But I think I've got a better one. How about I give you the finger… mlm …and you give me my phone call. I mean burger.

        • -6

I bet the person who negged me for my obvious matrix quote had parents who wouldn't let them have a tv in the house when they were growing up. And they smell like cabbage too. And fart a lot around other people.

Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger.

On behalf of the Polished Man campaign, we’re so pleased to see so many of you in the OzBargain community committing to fundraising for this important cause to provide emergency support for children who have suffered physical and/or sexual violence and prevent others from falling victim to the tragic global statistic of one in five who are affected by violence before the age of 18.

Have you considered joining the OzBargain Polished Man fundraising team? There’s power in numbers and we would be so proud to see this community sign up for the free burgers but also show the world what a collective commitment from a group of caring individuals can do for children right around the world.

Getting started is easy! Just follow these three simple steps and start raising those funds!

    1. Sign up at polishedman.com
    2. Join the OzBargain Team @ polishedman.com/ozbargain (or start your own) from the ‘Profile Page'
    3. Share the team URL with your friends/other OzBargain users in this tread and get them to join!

The OzBargain team is currently Ranked #2 of all teams currently signed up - amazing work!

On behalf of the Polished Man team, the projects we aid and the children we support, thank you. Enjoy your burgers!

    • +2

      Hey welcome :)

First line of the post has a link to our team, made sure people see it as soon as they start reading :)

Hopefully people reach into their wallets once they start claiming the free burgers!

      • +1

Thanks Spackbace! :) Appreciate all the info you've provided to fellow OzBargainers!

      • That's wonderful - thank you so much for the incredible support! OZbargain are the top fundraising team so far!!

  • Could someone explain how to add yourself to the ozbargain team? I've created a login and now I'm at the profile page. Can only see options to create new profiles

    • Yeah my reply is probably bit late now, but create your profile, then go to the team page

      • Do I need to donate in order to join the team? Sorry it's not obvious.
I created an individual profile. When I search for the team I can't see anyway to join

        • No, you don't need to donate to join.

Click through the link in the post to join the team (first line of post), should be an option there to join

    • I can't see how to join either? Clicked on the link but can only see an option to donate..

  • +7

$489 raised so far, well done people :)

We're now the highest donating team!

I really hope that number grows when people get their free burger vouchers :)

    • +2

      🎉🎉🎉Good work Spackbace🎉🎉🎉

I hadn't upvoted until now as I expected everyone was just in it for the free burger. Never expected philanthropy from OzBargain. It gives me an insight into the broad interests & values of this community.

Now even happier to be a member of OzBargain because of this 😯

Honest, I'll donate after the free burger 🍔

      • +1

$524 raised now, but we're coming second by $96 :( Dammit!

  • -3

So let me get this right. I can come between promotion dates with a family of four and show them my 5 emails and we can have 1 free burger each ? Do we need to show them our "painted nail" too ?

    • "No soup for you!"

  • +3

I was excited by hearing about the free burger offer, however when I realised it came as a promotion alongside a charity my morals would not just allow me to get on board just for free burgers.
Happy to have joined, and donated towards this cause (with the bonus of a shirt and burgers coming my way) .. I am excited to promote this charity also .. I am not gonna judge anyone who jumped on this for free burgers without a thought of helping out the charity, however encourage those who have/will to look at how much you will save with a free burger and donate 1/2 that to the charity.. still ahead your end by doing that.

    • +2

I ordered the medium shirt but might need to shelve it for a while after eating burgers for 9 days straight.

  • -1

    Clear polish?
    Fake Nails?

  • anyone got their burger vouchers yet?

    • nope

    • +2

      I wouldn't expect them until October 1st or 2nd

  • +1

    donated $50, got a nice t-shirt, nail polish and eye shadow….happy :)

  • $634 raised for the team now :)

We're out of the top handful of teams, now that Grill'd teams have come along, but we're still beating some of their stores :)

    • +1

hopefully more OzBargainers will donate once they've received their burgers :)

  • +7

Currently, the OzBargain team is at $634 raised. We've decided to match all donations up to the goal of $900. So that means if there are $900 of donations at the end of Monday, we will put in $900 for a total of $1800.

Get your free burgers and get donating. We will match donations until Oct 3 11:59PM EST.

    • +1

      Awesome thanks guys (& girl!)

Scotty, thanks heaps for coming to the party on this :)

  • anyone got vouchers yet?

its a 'couple days' now from the start

  • +9

    https://www.grilld.com.au/legal-information/terms-conditions…

    1. Burger barcodes will be sent at 10 am (EST) each day during the Promotion Period. To receive a burger barcode on any given day during the Promotion Period, you must have successfully registered for the Promotion by 11.59 pm (AWST) the previous day.

    Burger barcode conditions

    1. Each burger barcode will entitle you to a free standard burger of your choice (excluding steak sandwiches, salads, sliders, lobster rolls and ‘Mini Me Packs’). Any additions or optimisations to your burger of choice, and any sides or drinks, will need to be paid for separately. This offer will apply to “dine-in” orders only.

    2. To redeem your free burger, you must show one painted fingernail (if more than one of your nails are painted, your “polished” nail must be distinguishable from the rest) and present your burger barcode for scanning at the register at the time of placing your order.

    • Thanks for posting this, I'm a little dense but what does it mean by register 'the previous day'? don't you just register once for the duration of the promo period? seems cumbersome to keep registering if you want to dine in the next day?

      • +1

Yeah it's register just the once as far as I can tell

    • you must have successfully registered for the Promotion by 11.59 pm (AWST) the previous day.

it's not 11.59pm AWST but rather AEST/AEDT as i found out the hard way by missing out yesterday :(

      • Ah k, that was just copy/paste :P

Why hadn't you signed up earlier? :(

  • Grill'd Email today: https://talkbox.impactapp.com.au/communications/view/Email/k…
Grill'd News page: https://www.grilld.com.au/news/latest/polishedman (should have probably used this one as the deal link?)

    • (should have probably used this one as the deal link?)

Grilld haven't had info on their site till now ;)

      • '15/09/16 News' ? (or is that a lie?)

They've probably forgotten to push the 'publish' button until today :D

        • Nah wasn't there. I was checking the Grill'd site for Ts & Cs since day 1 (and I don't think I was the only one).

  • Hi OzBargainers,

As you know, Grill’d free burgers begin tomorrow and we just wanted to say how proud we are of your incredible fundraising efforts to date. The OzBargain team is sitting in 9th place at an amazing $900 and we’d love to see you continue rising up the ladder as you enjoy your free burgers!

Awareness is half the battle but it’s funds that enable us to make a tangible difference to lives of children at risk of or who have fallen victim to physical and/or sexual violence. Keep up the incredible work and thanks again for your support!

You can see more info and sign up (if you haven't already) here - https://www.grilld.com.au/news/latest/polishedman

    T&Cs here - https://www.grilld.com.au/legal-information/terms-conditions…

P.S. Big shout-out to Spackbace for posting and keeping everyone updated!

    • Would you prefer we update the 'Go To Deal' url to https://www.grilld.com.au/news/latest/polishedman ? or should we leave it as polishedman.com ?

      • I think it's best to link straight to the charity, rather than the burgers :)

        • +1

Actually the related store is fine in ozbargain, so it'll show up if someone is browsing Grill'd past deals - all good!

    • I've never been able to sign up this whole time, the page has never loaded

  • +5

Supposed to get the vouchers "a couple days before" the offer, I don't have mine. Does anyone have theirs? I am trying to plan my lunch.
Edit: Nevermind I missed Spaceback's post. We get the vouchers on the same day at 10.

    • Where does it say that?

  • I've a question. Suppose someone signs up mid event, will they also get the burger vouchers too or must they sign up prior to the event?

    • T & C's state gotta be before 11:59pm on the day before the promotion starts.

    • +3

Above comment is wrong, sign up by 11:59pm the day before. So you'd still get the voucher the next day

  • +1

Darn, donated to team but didn't tick the Grill'd offer on signup. Suppose its for a good cause anyway

    • You can go back in and re-tick the grill'd promo checkbox.

      • Yep. Go in and choose Edit Profile

        • ooh thanks both!

  • anyone got their vouchers yet?

    • not yet

      • 10:19!! Got it.

    • Not yet

    • +1

      • +1

    • yes received

  • nothing here

    • Got one 10.19am Sydney time

      • and now I have one also.

        Woohoo lunch time fast approaches.

  • Got mine at 10:18 am… 😃

  • Just got mine…..

  • +1

Got my voucher and donated burger price. Lunch sorted

  • +2

im using a blue sharpie marker to paint one nail

then using lynx spray to wipe it off :)

    • black sharpie here, thanks for the idea

  • Sweeeeet!!! Got the email…

  • got my voucher

  • got it, what is a 'standard burger' though - anything I assume? without extras..

  • Damn I haven't got nail polish to paint a nail and get my free burger =(

    • use liquid paper tape on your nail if you are desperate, or permanent texta…

  • Any idea how sensitive their scanners are? Wondering if I have to print it out or if it will work from the phone.

    • I'm hoping phone is fine, it's a big barcode, it looks like it's designed for smartphone

  • Anyone succeed in getting one without nail polish?

    • +1

      just use whiteout

  • that's hard to do - 'show ‘polished’ nail to redeem'

  • +8

Tempted to bring a Nail from bunnings…

    • update us on your experience on bringing a "Nail" from Bunnings

      • haha…just went with nail polish in the end - see my other posts
Might be able to find a nail in the garage though, would be funny…

Anyone in QLD going to try a toe nail + thongs ?

  • Still nothing……!! Anyone else?

    • +1

Haven't got a voucher yet either - but have had about 6 conversations based around the nail at work.

  • +2

    At Grilld now

    Didn't even check the nail

    • +1

Did you print the form? Or just showed the email and they scanned the barcode?

  • At Brisbane City (wintergarden) one, didn't have to show my nail, I printed the voucher, but others were getting theirs scanned from phones. Staff really friendly and knew all about the fundraiser :)
