  • Was looking at getting the Syma X5C - 1 at around $70 for my dad as a late fathers day present. Is the Voyager just a re-branding of the same model? If it is, I'd rather just spend the extra and have it now. FPV is a bonus, too!

    • Don't think it's a rebranding. The Syma X5C-1 has two ski style landing struts and the Voyager Quadcopter has four pillars. That said, they are quite similar in design and probably quite similar in quality. Pity ALDI don't mention the camera's resolution and the flying time.

Beat me to it, was just about to post that. Great price too, it's $77 on banggood

Can also use the C10AUS coupon code for an extra 10% off. So $54.29 delivered.

        • @iratepirate: thanks! Just bought it. Doubt the camera is that good but should still be some fun! :)

For that buy a yizhan x6 tarantula still got change, best toy grade quad bar none 300 m range been flying quads for 4 years have recommended to plenty of people everybody happy.

    • Where's the best place to buy that? Should you get spares of anything with it?

    • Is there a easily swappable battery? Description on the site says battery built in… I want to be able to buy a few batteries and be able to swap them out to get more than 7 mins of flying time every 2 and a half hours.

Betheball, zonbie I would recommend banggood but buy extra batteries, these things are tough and very stable when trimmed up,the best things about the tarantula is the motors are plug and play no soldering good for beginners great flight time they take a beating good luck flying we all have to start some where. But be warned they are very addictive.Dont pay extra for camera model,if you have a few spare dollars buy the fpv kit for about 70 with screen banggood have 11 percent off at moment.

    • Many thanks save a penny. That's just the sort of info I was looking for. Buy the x6, and add a FPV kit I think I might push-the-button for no other reason than the OzB community !

    • Hey SaP, what's your thoughts on the MJX X601H? It's a hexacopter around the same price point but offers features like altitude hold, headless mode, auto landing, return to base. Granted the video quality is woeful, but for under $100 it seems like a good beginner drone?

  • Zonbie my pleasure buddy enjoy im sure you will you won't regret it

  • Thanks, might get a Yizhan too however wondering what you would recommend as the next or a few next steps up with a better camera and plug and play motors etc.

    • Just bought a DJI Phantom 3…WTF OzBargain!!!!

  • Sir casm I find the mjx range a bit hit and miss had mjx 600 no where near as good as tarantula had the mjx 800 great little hex like I said best bang for buck tarantula

    • Thanks mate, appreciate the advice.

  • Does anyone recommend the high pressure washer?

      To deter drones?

  • performs well enoung and a camera looks to be ok. Yet to test range and so on but will do so this afternoon. I wonder if the range listing more reflects the cameras wifi distance rather than drone distance

  • A nice development today with the drone, the drone3d app for the syma version works with this this one and in turn a google cardboard headset. Should be fun
