I have the Phillips one and it's decent. It's basically a glorified oven in my eyes but it's perfect for me as my partner and I are in a rental and the oven is terrible, so this is good for general oven items and it also gets Potato Gems and Chips nice and crispy.

I'd definitely recommend putting a bit of oil on the food prior to cooking to help stop the food sticking to the basket. I'd also lean towards more fresh products rather than frozen, once again to avoid sticking.

Make sure you soak the basked and wash it immediately as if food gets caught in it, it will be very hard to clean. Soaking it right away always works really well for me.

      • May I know which Philips model you have? I just need some advices as I am looking at Philips HD9220 for a birthday gift. Thank you.

        • Yeah I have that one 'Philips HD9220/50 Viva Collection Airfryer'

      • Thanks butterbuts, Philips one is quite costly. Has anyone tried this brand in specific. Recently had gone to the convention centre, where they were selling for $379 (obviously better quality, brand and size) but got fascinated by it.

Apart from chips and nuggets, what else can be cooked in it?

I only just got mine but have used it for Gems, Chips and Meatballs so far. It says it does chicken and obviously you can do the crispy items like pies, spring rolls etc. I have the smaller one that's made for 1-2 people which usually retails for between $199-$240 ish but I got mine in one of those ebay 20% off sales from The Good Guys for $169.

        • @butterbuts: Ah :) I am leaning towards buying it. Thanks for ur comment. Cheers.

Hello Ozzy, You can take a look at the ebay link or their website for recent reviews on their air fryers. This is an upgrade on the 3.2L air fryer.

      Hello Ozzy,

I have gone through the negative reviews myself, there is some confusion around the earlier 2.2L version being recorded as 3.2L for review purposes - look at the link url you posted. There is a bad review from someone who put the hot air fryer straight on their worktop, MDS spoke to them directly and the issue was with a faulty worktop. Other than that the reviews for their air fryers are 5*. You will also find their customer service is impeccable and they offer a money back guarantee. Take a look at their ebay store link I posted for reviews on them.

If you have any particular concerns feel free to highlight them and I'll do my best to help.

      • Thanks. Ps send me the eBay link.

I can only find 3.2l. Not the 3.5l

        • @pmason78: no I meant the eBay link to purchase. Will the eBay purchase include all the accessories and bonus kits included in as mentioned on the website?

        • @ozzyoi: Apologies I understand what you mean now, they ran a promo on Ebay deals but that sold out. Maybe check back in a few weeks and they may have the 3.5L available on Ebay again.

          Cheers

I have one very similar to this model (kitchen chef brand as well). It works really well for reheating leftovers as well as cooking small stuff you would normally put in the oven.

To be honest I am surprised how much use we get out of it. It also has the bonus of cooking things faster than an oven (very little warm up time) and with less power.

  • How crispy do chips / french fries that you buy frozen from the supermarkets get?

  • I should mention that using the eBay 15% off code with this beauty on the sellers eBay store nets it for $75.65 with free delivery!
