  • ^Our Fair Use Policy applies to all UNLIMITED Plans and unlimited components of plans. Use which is not permitted by our Fair Use Policy is not included in your monthly call allowance or the relevant component of the plan. International Call rates depend on the country called. Visit www.telechoice.com.au/legal/terms for a list of available International Direct Dial rates. International call inclusions are provided for International Direct Dial calls made from within Australia and are subject to our Fair Use Policy. A 2 minute standard call is $2.38. Excess data usage will be charged in 1GB increment/blocks at $10 per GB. All MMS, Texts and data usage must be made from and to services within Australia. All charges quoted include GST. To obtain a copy of our Fair Use Policy and for full terms and conditions, just ask us or visit our website at www.telechoice.com.au/legal/appendices.

    • Out of curiosity, how many texts do I have to send in a month before being considered unfair usage?

      • +1

        Hi maolin95,

Its a tricky one - generally the fair use policy will only apply when you are Using the service for commercial or illegal purposes. There is no set text limit
        .

        • +3

It maybe considered illegal how much I text your mumma..

    • -2

Excess data usage in 1Gb increments.. sounds like this might bite. If someone uses 10mb per day, would they charge $10 per day?

      • +2

        Hi ATangk,

Excess data packs will only apply once you exceed your plan allowance. If you exceed by less than 1GB, you will only be charged $10

We can turn off these automatic data add ons too if you're not interested :)

      • Absolutely does bite. They tried charging me a fair whack in December. I've refused and left them. Never exceeded the allowance with any other providers. I asked for a data audit but they refused and just kept spamming me with overdue notices until I blocked them. Also very average service data and voice wise in metro Melbourne. Give them a shot. You'll see what I mean.

        • +1

Im gunna stay on Voda. Slightly better deal imo.

        • @ATangk: Hi atangk. Which Voda plans that better than this. I'm interested in one

        • @eegos:
Its part of their student promotion. So unless youre a student, you wont be getting a better deal.

        • @ATangk: I'm a student but atm I'm getting 500mb, unlimited text and $500 worth of calls for $40/month

        • +4

          @pyro love bird:
          Then you're getting screwed

        • +1

          @pyro love bird: that's a shit deal.

        • +1

@pyro love bird: I'm getting 3Gb and unlimited text and call for $25,..

        • @pyro love bird:
          That is "daylight robbery".

        • @ATangk: what. How?

        • @krouton24: my current plan has expired so I'm month to month, do you reckon if I asked for them to bump me up, they'd ask me to renew? Or should I just find another provider?

        • @pyro love bird:
They had some student offer which was $5 off or extra 2Gb. It expired though, so maybe if you ask you can get it. This was stacked with some other offers for everyone, but asking is all you can do at this moment. Online only offers that is.

        • @ATangk: shame :( I will ask and see though. It also seems that for some reason they're charging me for a handset fee that I'm pretty certain I've already paid off. Ice had so many issues with Vodafone

        • @pyro love bird:
You'd be better off even on prepaid plans.

$30/mth gets you 2Gb and unlimited other bits.

    • Just wandering why people saying in product reviews that data goes fast when they don't use it? Any comments Telechoice?

      • +1

        Hi MyLoginName,

All of our usage is metered in realtime, and usage alerts are sent to customers accordingly. Late last year, we upgraded from 3G to 4G which improved data speeds quite dramatically. Some customers who are not familiar with 4G might have experienced their data being used faster, as you can natually preload or buffer more while browsing.

  • Saw that a security deposit is required to activate roaming. What is this security deposit and how much?

    • Hi Vanoob,

We would generally recommend you get a SIM from your travel destination (as this is always the cheapest option), however if you needed to keep your number whilst overseas, we require a $100 bond for text only roaming and a $500 bond for text and call roaming, returnable once all charges on the account (whilst roaming) have cleared.

      • +3

Be aware that this bond can take some time to be refunded. We have had some god awful times waiting for the bond to be returned to our accounts.

We have since moved to other providers as a result.

        • Hi faceman54,

Sorry for the bad experience you've had in the past. While im not sure about your particular situation, our LIVE plans can now meter overseas usage almost instantly which means we can get the bond back to you in a more timely fashion

        • @TeleChoice:

          Hi There,
My plan is set to expire in November and currently with TeleChoice. Can I move plans now to the new live 12 month contract?

        • Hi Peannut,

You sure can. Just shoot us a message through the live chat on our website.

      • +1

does this mean that if you want roaming activated all the time, we basically pay you $100 for the privilege?

        • Hi Vanoob,

Essentially yes. To clarify, we in no way are a provider specializing in roaming, however if it is something that our customers need then we can accommodate on the above terms. You'll notice a lot of other wholesalers have restrictions on roaming (or won't offer it at all).

  • Looks like a pretty good deal, Telstra 4G too.

Are these prices permanent or limited time only?

    • Hi Ughhh,

Becuase of it's competetive nature, prices are changing in the telco world all the time. However, These are our new plans and we won't be removing them any time soon ;)

      • +1

Thank you for this info.I might port my number to your service this month when my Virgin contract ends.I hope the offer can last till then.

  • +3

Hi Op, I'm on old $20 plan ($500 + 1G). Can I upgrade into new $20 plan and how? Thx

    • Also interested to know..

    • You mean they haven't told and upgraded their existing customers already? That's pretty poor form.

      • +3

        Hi Cloudy,

We are actually already sending out SIMs to our existing customer ;) we just got the plans today. If you want to fast track to process, you can get in contact with us.

      • +2

Actually they sent me a new SIM this week, unrequested, so I could change over to the new plans. I was pretty impressed with that.

Weirdly, they put me on another $20 plan ($300 calls, 1GB data) just before launching this one…

        • Bizarre. That's stingy of them when they have the $500 calls available of the 4G $20 plan which I'm currently on.

        • +1

          Hi encoderboy,

If you haven't already activated this SIM you can request the new 20 plan above. If you have, let us know and we'll do a plan change

      • +3

        It's pretty standard stuff tbh.

If they changed the plan in different ways (like telstra did recently and removed google play billing) and automatically upgraded customers, everyone would chuck a fit.

It's common practice to just keep people on the plan they signed up for.

Most companies dont even tell you that theyve improved the plan (i remember we paid iinet too much for a few months before we realised they had new, cheaper plans).

So well done to telechoice for actually telling their customers.

      • They don't if you're on a 12/24 mth agreement unless you're prepared to commit to a new one with a new completion date.

    • Simple, just port out to $2 sim then port back in.

    • +1

      Hi Jasonchen59,

If you are out of contract on your $20 plan, you can change to any plan you want, including this new $20 plan.

If you are still in contract on your $20 plan, we can move you to the above $19 plan, but we will need to break your current contract and recontract you for 12 months (there is no cost to do this however).

The how is a little more complicated -

If you are already on a LIVE plan, it's very straight forward. Just contact us on the chat on our website, or give us a call on 1300835324 and we'll get things in motion

If you are not on a LIVE plan, we will need to send you a new SIM to move to these plans. There is no cost for this. Again to organise this, Just contact us on the chat on our website, or give us a call on 1300835324.

*if you're doing a plan change (in particular LIVE plan to LIVE plan) its always best to do it on the last day of your billing cycle

      • Hi OP, thanks for your instruction. I've already finished 2 years contract and ported on LIVE 20 few month ago with 4G and new sim, I will go for live chat to upgrade, so do I still have current bill cycle? or start a new one? Thanks

        • Hi jasonchen59,

Probably wait until the end of your billing cycle. Month to month plans won't pro rata when they are canceled, so if you do it mid month you might end up paying for a full month of your old plan when you've only used half.

        • @TeleChoice:
Hi, Op. I just checked my bill cycle ends tmr, online chat asked me to call for changing plan tmr, is that correct? Are ur call center working tmr?

        • +2

          Hi Jasonchen59,

They sure are, just make sure you press option 4 (not option 1 or 2 which are closed)

  • $1 cheaper to lock in for 12 months. Saving $12 in a year.

    • +3

…or buy 20 months and get one free ;)

      • Now you put it that way…..sign me up pronto

        • Sell your soul to the devil

  • +2

    Including international call?

    • Hi bt123123,

Any plan with a $xx inclusion for talk can use that allowance for international calls. If that's what you're interested in you might want to have a look at our 28 plan :)

  • FYI, if you're on a current LIVE plan you can't change to these plans until your next billing cycle apparently.

    • Thanks right f4te,

Its best to let us know on the last day of your billing cycle

  • hooray $30/3gig welcome to 2016 :)

    • +4

Welcome to 2016?? This looks like a 2015 plan at best. Aldi one is better in my opinion

      • The $30 plan above is actually geared towards those who need unlimited calls. We also have a $28 plan than still has 3GB but only $1000 of calls

      • +1

        Sarcasm bro

  • +2

Nice timing. my next billing cycle is tomorrow.

Telechoice: I was able to successfully provision the change to the start date of your next billing cycle which is tonight. By tomorrow, your service will be on the LIVE $20 month to month with 2GB data allowance.

    • Great news PissLUR :)

  • +3

    Cap also includes international sms/mms.

    :2thumbsup

  • +1

Great stuff. Interesting to note that I tried upgrading my plans from the old $20 plan to the live $29 plan and I was told to pay $2 for the live sim at their Glen Waverley stall as I haven't been sent 1 yet (while my wife got her free live simcard in the mail for free just as her other family members). However, the telechoice stall at northcote upgraded my sim for free. Xander from northcote was most helpful. So moral of the story is, telechoice service might vary at different locations.

    • Hi Hunnypooh,

Correct. If you order the SIM for an upgrade online however it will always be free

  • I have been on prepaid for the last 5 years with lycamobile and recharged only 2 or 3 times a year and never felt the need for plan. Now don't even know if I should go with any plans. Family and friends uses Lycamobile and therefore always free call and never needed to recharge. Have not felt the need for internet outside either, mostly there has been free wifi in recent years.

    • Seriously? How can you use wifi in train or when moving. Data is equally important in today's world to be connected via emails or social media.

      • Haven't commuted on public transport since I got my licence. I know data is important, but have not been anxious about the need for immediate internet access. I have downloaded google map offline and been using that without internet when lost somewhere in recent year. I always check my emails, and I have like 10 emails accounts on phone and always check them on wifi network. I guess I got into the habit by now.

        • +2

I know what you mean. I used to think that way too. But trust me once you get used to having data on the go, you cant go back.

        • @titan0r: I exactly know what you mean. Once I go down the path of having data on the go, I will always be relying on it. It's good to have data on the go and that's why I am leaning a little towards going to a data plan.

  • Live connected is 1.5 GB with $650 calls nationally with unlimited txts for 20 bucks.
I find it better to have a little more talk time and 1.5 gb is enough to surf web, social media and emails compared to $500 and 2 gb.
Only downside with live connected is no international calls.

  • Hi OP can we disable automatic recharge if we go over our data allowance? For example if I hit 2GB usage is it possible to simply cut off internet access? This sounds like a good deal but not if I risk having to fork out an additional $10 if I go over? Thanks

    • +1

      Hi YOLO,

You sure can. It is on our plans by default so you just need to let us know at some point (after activation) that you want that feature turned off :)

  • no roaming in China if I am joining now….

  • anyone know if theres data rollover?

    • Hi Kelvach,

No data rollover on these ones at this stage

  • Is it possible to keep same number? If so what is the cost to do so?

    • +1

It sure is, as long as you own the number with the provider you are porting out from. There is no cost to port a number 😊

      • Is there a cost to port out?

        • Hi Elfa,

There is also no cost associated with porting out, as long as you are out of contract.

  • International included?

    • Hi dealonaustralia,

Any plans with $xx talk (not unlimited) can use that to make international calls :)

  • Hey rep, I'm currently on the old live starter 20 plan. Do i need to do anything to upgrade?
I also can't receive MMS - I have set up all the APN details and have mobile internet. Its strange cause I receive MMS on 3G network but not the 4G when TeleChoice switch me over.

    • Hi MountFranklin,

You just need to contact us through our chat on our website and we'll help you change plans.

The MMS one is a little trickier, have you tried resetting your APN settings to default?

    • I had the same issue and after much investigation through Telechoice, it was discovered that my phone didn't support the band required to receive MMS in 4G. I have the Oppo Find 7 so I've gotten used to flicking it over to 3G when it says I have an MMS that can't be downloaded, and then flicking back to 4G again once done.
Not sure which band it is though sorry.
Other than that, which isn't the fault of Telechoice, I've been extremely happy with them.

      • That explains why when I restart my phone I get the MMS. It must connect to the 3G first allowing MMS before it connects to 4G. Thanks for the help!

  • +1

    Hi telechoice
    In $20 Live Plan
It said $500 inc. international Standard Calls. What it means by Standard Calls?
Is call to mobile considered as not Standard Calls?
    Thanks

    • +1

      Hi eegos,

Standard calls include calls to landline, mobile, 13xx and 1800 numbers within Australia :)

  • Never heard of this company before… Are they good ??

    • +3

Been with them for years. I have had no problems.

      • I heard they have been operation since 1995

  • Just upgraded plan. I was told that the extra data will not take affect until after the first billing cycle on the new plan is finished.

  • Been with them for almost 2 years without issue but will be leaving as soon as my contract is up. I'm on their $12.50/month plan (with 200mb of data) and it's not quite enough for me. Cheapest I can find is aldi for $15/month (500MB).

Any other ideas for cheap mobile plans with small amount of calls and small amount of data? (2-3 hours of calls and 500MB data)?

  • Hi,

I have an old $20 p/m Telechoice 12 month plan which I completed ages ago and have been going month to month. The plan is called KM Global Liberty Starter 20 - 12M (it's 500mins 1gb).

How do sign up for the 12 month $19 plan?

Also, when I signed up it was only 3g, is this deal now 4g?

    Thanks!

    • +1

      Yes telstra 4g

    • +1

      Hi dan83,

Just shoot us a message through the live chat on our website and we'll help you make the change. Because that old plan is a 3G plan, and these new plans are 4G capable, you will need a new SIM

      • Great, thanks!

  • +2

Woolworths is $27 per month * , Telstra 4G, no contract, unlimited phone & sms, 3gig data (* with Woolworths Rewards card)

    • also included bit of international call
