  • does anyone know if their coffee tastes good?

    • I had the $1 coffee at the George St Store, near The Galleries Victoria, in Sydney and the coffee is high quality, made by a barista, using Lavazza beans.

Wait. What? 7-11 employ barista's now?

    • yea… 1$? what do u expect… but it is drinkable… LOL ;D

    • Tastes like crap, instant coffee from a machine, but what do you expect for $1 lol

  • Fantastic news:)!

  • Hmm $1? I might pick one up on the way home from work :)

  • Please update title with a $

This is the price coffee should always be at.

I would be concerned where they source their coffee from though. Either 7-Eleven is absorbing this as a loss or someone in <insert 3rd world country here> is being exploited

  • Are we talking about Barista coffee?

  • +2

well i think most 7-11 will have those instant "press a button" machine coffee

only selected ones (like george street in sydney)
will have those coffee espresso machine

unless 7-11 wants to install these in ever 7-11 in the country…..

    • This is mostly true, except their signage in-store indicates it's still freshly ground.

    • McDonald's has a similar 'coffee-flavored-drink' in their drive-throughs service: a machine makes it for $1.50 as I recall, while the McCafé hand-made coffees are ~$3.50 or so, and vastly better.

Ikea also used to have this same setup — for $1.50 you could refill as many times as you like from the same Lavazza machine, but more recently they switched the beans to a much cheaper grind and the quality went from average to awful. it still attracts unintiated customers who try it and tip it, again a case of their hand-made café version is three times the price but worth it.

Does anyone know if this includes hot choc?

    • +3

That would be awesome if it did…can someone confirm it?

    • yeah it does

  • oh good job

  • Tried it a couple of times. Not the best coffee but a dollar for something with caffine, who's complaining. Good job 7-11.

  • This is the normal price for takeaway filter coffee in the US. Should be here.
Didn't know we had 7-11 in Australia.

    Is this espresso?

    • You must live in Adelaide or something. 7/11 been around for a while on the east coast and will most likely increase its market reach. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/industry-sectors/ex…

They launched their sandwiches abour 4 years ago and look to keep progressing in the industry.

Perth. To us, Adelaide is the east coast :)

      • 7/11 just bought all mobil petrol stores in australia, which means their market reach will indeed be increasing into SA and other states.

        • No they won't. The SA stores have been sold off to another company, Peregrine Corp, stores will be known as On-the-Run. No Slurpy's for SA I'm afraid.

  • Is it a instant coffee? I mean something like Nestle coffee powder from machine?
Or like automatic coffee machine that from coffee beans?

    • 7 Eleven website says freshly ground beans

    • I had one on Thursday, out of curiosity and having time to kill waiting for the bus. It's a machine that grinds the beans, not instant coffee powder. It's fine for $1 and a caffeine hit, but of course if you want real coffee, this is not for you. If you find a 7/11 with a barista, let us know if it's any good.

Edit: Had a second one today in a different 7/11. This one was horrible, basically coffee flavoured hot water. Maybe they didn't fill the machine properly or something. Anyway I will be avoiding this shop in future.

  • I believe there are about 4 or 5 stores which have the barrista made coffees for 7-Eleven. In Melbourne there is a store in Bourke St, and a store in Collins St. In Sydney there is the George St store, and Brisbane has it in one of their George St stores as well. I could be wrong, but i think the $1 for a regular and $2 for a large Coffee/Hot Choc/Latte etc is only for the Melb and Sydney store, and Brisbane is $2 and $3 respectively. Not a coffee drinker, but i do enjoy their hot chocolate :-)

  • Sure, Another promotion this month is the Monster energy drink now you can buy one get one free.

So sad that the 7-Eleven in my area closed down in last year!

    • Since when do 7-elevens close?!!? Oh… Closed down… ;)

  • not a coffee drinker, i'll go for hot choc

maybe this will force other coffee places to lower their prices of $5-6 for a cup!!

    • Where do you hang around? The max I've paid for barista coffee is $4.00 in a posh shopping centre. Mostly I pay between $2.50 to $3.00 for a regular. And good stuff too.

      • around Carlton near melbourne Uni i pay around 3-4 dollars for a reg cup of coffee… Its around the same price for like certain chain coffee stores… But then i wouldn't expect 7/11 to have the quality of a barista made cup.

  • i live in Sydney, the ones in the cbd are $7.50 for a large but looks medium!!

    • sucks to live in sydney : P

  • cup was a bit small.. i've tasted worse..

  • Just had one, wasn't too bad.
    Better than homemade.
