At Woolworths today (31/8) only the $45 starter pack is half price. The $30 is full price still…
Is it only in store the deal not online
Only available in stores not online
Ah, I went through the Woolworths Mobile $45 Pre-Paid Starter Pack Including 16GB Data $22.50 link
Cheap 16gb on telstra network
Part of Telstra network :)
Not all of it? What do you miss out on?
Mainly affects coverage in rural areas. You can check the coverage maps between Telstra and their resellers and see that the coverage is less for the resellers.
On both of my farms I have great reception and speeds
@amts: and also you can't get telstra billing on google play
@Savas:
Beet farm? 😁@kima: and unless you have a grandfathered freedom plus plan on telstra prepaid (or go on the long life/simplicity plan etc), you wont get telstra billing on google play with telstra either.
First month. Lame.
Welcome to OzBargain
Why makes a first month discount so attractive. Why negative votes? Mistified.
Ah more pokecoins, thanks :)
How does Telstra prepaid pack work with google play store credit now?
Would the below work -- Buy the pack with discount price
- Activate as Beyond Talk plan
- Use the google credits on pokemon or hearthstone
- Change the plan to Prepaid Plus for pocket wifi data usage
I'm confused about this. firstly how do you change the plan to prepaid plus?
Secondly why can't we use the changed plan for phone calls? Do we only able to use the data once we change?
You can change prepaid offers through My Account, 24x7 app and #100# Prepaid Plus has call + text, data was just their intended use case.
So can you change plans freely without any penalties?
@Diesmile: If you change the offer you will lose your bonuses
Does that mean that if we change the plan from Beyond talk to Prepaid Plus, we only get 1.5GB and not the bonus 1.5 with everything else remaining the same?
@pauper: If you activate on one offer you'll have those bonuses, such as the included data and mintues. If you change the offer those bonuses will be gone until you recharge again.
Last step won't 'work'. You could change to prepaid plus but you won't get the bonuses, eg the 3gb you want for your pocket wifi, unless you recharge. As per this similar hypothetical.
Second this. I did a data plan thinking I would get the google play credit a few weeks ago. But it didn't come on that plan. So they I called to change to freedom plus but had no call credit or data. After some begging and saying the website wasn't 100% clear on which pre-paid plans were eligible for google play, they gave me the data and call credit too.
Weird, I activated my data plan and got full credit for google play, then recharged $50 to get more credit and extended the expiry day to 365 days.
Yes! I have been waiting for woolworths mobile packs to be reduced :)
Oh man just bought this last week for $27 from Groupon :(
Off to the poor house for you. Bank and repo guys will be at the door in the morning to collect your possessions.
The only downside with the WW ones is you have to use them by 30th September to get the full 16GB, pity they haven't extended that.
And if you don’t use all your data in a month, the data will automatically rollover to subsequent months (up to a combined total of 15GB) to use when you need it.
I wish our daughter had data to rollover, she uses it within 2 weeks!
Don't you have to top up the same amount again? So you end up payin $22.50 + $45 to get the full 32gb of data for 2 months.
I think their website is a bit misleading, it then goes on to say "1. When you recharge on the $30 and $45 Pre-paid plan, any remaining data will roll over so you can save up to 15GB of data to use when you need it."
I might screen shot the bit nocure mentions and buy this.
It used to be 1st of July then it got put back to 30th September. And you're still wanting an extension?!
Yes
if it interests anyone i believe I saw $10 optus starter pack for $2 at coles.
1 per person apparently in next weeks cataloguei check this site all the time and somehow i missed that. not even sure how, its got so many votes.
this may be silly question.
how can one port from wow > new network > wow?
we ported from tpg to wow and then to optus. we tried to port from optus back to wow, but the online activation refused. the online activation said that the phone # was already on their system, and that we must recharge instead of using a $30 starter pack.
thanks.Ring them ???
@whooah1979
I think you have to leave it a period of time, how long since you were on WOW originaly ?Does anyone still play that old game?
I thought they were talking about the old electronics retailer.
I did it from wow to Telstra and back but 28 days in between
Is it possible to stack these woolies mobile starter packs? When do they have to be activated/ used?
I want to buy like 10 of them, and keep porting in and out. Any help.would be appreciated
yes, you can stack them. all woolies cards comes with expiry date.
Suppose that I get 6, does that mean I will need to 6 spare sims to port out to?
eg. I would activate my first woolies sim, then port out to a lyca sim and then port into my second woolies sim before porting out to my 2nd lyca sim etc?Yes.
So it says: "+Bonus 16GB of Data on the 1st recharge before 3 September 2016. 30 day credit expiry, $45 Starter Pack includes SIM with Pre-loaded $45 recharge"
I read that as: you will pay $22.50 for the pack (with 8GB) then recharge again before 3rd sep with another 8GB (for example) which come with a bonus 16GB so a total of 32GB within that 4 day window?
Also Woolworths Everyday rewards members get 10% off recharges
No, when you activate this you get 16gb (8 + bonus 8) then your next $45 recharge will just be 8gb
Can I put one of these SIMs in a USB modem (locked to Telstra) and use the data only?
You might need to unlock your modem.
Telstra prepaid sim at half price not worth it anymore after freedom plan changes.
Before you could get calls and data, and also spend google credits. Use it all up before expiry and throw away. Now only other non freedom plans give google credits not worth it
I think it's still worth it for cheap(ish) telstra mobile data, just activate as a data sim and you get 3Gb for $15 and can creditme2u the $30 to another sim to "spend".
So you mean activate as data sim then still can transfer $30 to another SIM via credit me 2 u?
Yes, telstra say you can't but the sms method works (for me anyway, I've done 2 in the last couple of weeks).
It's still worth it if you're planning to buy anything on the google store or linked games.
I'd like to see some 10, 20, 40 and 100 gb plans be the standard.
If I activate this I get 16gb (8 + bonus 8), thats fine.
But the wording conflicts about what happens if my next recharge is the $30 one. T&C's say both;
1. "Data rollover applies on any $30 or $45 recharge applied from 1 July 2016".
2. "Unused Included and Bonus Data will roll over if you apply the same or higher recharge before your credit expires".So is it "any" or is it "same or higher" ? Will I lose any unused included/bonus data if I recharge with a $30 down the track, but then regain rollover ability the next recharge provided its 30 or 45?
after got 6GB for $1 this looks meh =)
$45 sim was half price but $30 sim scanned at full price as of today. Staff had never heard of the sales.
It was my mistake. I mistakenly read that it was the Woolworths $30 sim instead of Telstra.
Keep up the great posts nocure.
Bought the $45 sim to survive until there's another Optus $30 sim deal again :)
cheap yes but pretty slow, with dropouts, im actually shocked this is telstra, i personally would not buy this again unless i absolutely needed to save money my telstra data sim clocks in at 8 times the speed of the woolworths one, i cant deny the value but the delivery of service speed is poor and for me around 300-500 kbs is really not good enough, telstra i get around 2500 -5000kbs so enormous throttling by the looks of it, factor in dropouts of which ive had several in first weeks service and my conclusion is you barely get what you pay for, also this was my first woolworths sim and took 3 days to activate and so i had to spend money topping up another sim
Depends on the area I spose, I have the woolies Sim (5 bars),and a Vodafone Sim (2 bars) in together.
Where does it say $22.50?
