  • Put store(Mobile city) in title please

  • +2

+++ with TRS its better than grey import! S7 here I come!!!
Oh dont forget cashback, and its on the full price as well. I can confirm this as I bought SP4 from futu last time got my cashrewards and TRS

    • what is trs?

      • Tourist Refund Scheme. Get 10% back at the airport if you fly overseas.

    • I notice that too, but why the Black one is cheaper ? Just the color ?

      • +5

        Black phones matter ;)

      • Could be that it's locked to Optus!
Can't find a black Telstra version

        • Title says unlocked on the ebay post.

        • Unlocked but Optus branded i think

        • @gazza88:
Does this mean a Telstra sim would still work?
Would definitely prefer the black over silver!

        • +1

          @nelly94:

          Yes, it will work.

        • +1

@nelly94: Think so. you'll prob just have the optus logo when loading up and some optus apps pre-installed

  • +1

Good price for S7 Edge too. Gold colour unbranded + TRS + cashback = $840.50 great price for local!

    • +1

That's if you're going to be catching a plane in the next 60 days.

      • +1

Yeah the savings is offset by your international flight + holiday spending

    • many people are unaware that when claiming trs on an item going overseas and you return to AU with the same item, tax is applicable on that item and you are supposed to declare it to customs. You are breaking the law if you don't declare it.

most dont realize this or just exploit it.

edit if its used they apply a % depreciation.

  • So is the advantage of local stock primarily to do with warranty?

    • +3

Pretty much yes. Also the stores from whom you buy local stock from typically also give better customer/warranty feedback and support. The grey import stores are often quite a hassle to even get your warranty upheld, there are heaps of people complaining about stores like kogan, DWI, etc. around here and would rather pay a little more just for local stock :)

      • +1

Yeah cheers. With the price of phones these days laying down an extra $100 for another year of warranty and easy service is definitely a worhtwhile consideration!

      • Add QD-AU to that list as well…..

      • More than 10% isn't what I'd call a little. Personally I use grey imports if it's cheaper, yet to have the need to return any phone I've bought. I don't see the point of losing $100 in order to buy peace of mind.

The peace of mind about an event that is unlikely to occur.

        • +1

I don't think that had anything to do with the initial query, but thanks for your input.

  • +1

Just a heads up to whoever buys the Samsung S7/S7 E. The back is made from glass and one drop it will shatter whether you have a protective case or not. Lesson learnt the hard way :-\

    • I've dropped mine heaps and it's still good…

    • Same with my note 5. Dropped it, smashed the back, insurance claim, had it back 2 days, dropped it smashed the front, insurance claim. Now its in a wallet case :(

      • +1

What insurance allows you to do that ?

        • Optus. $50 excess each time though :(

    • And the white doesn't have this issue?

    • My S7E has been dropped on back at least couple of times without case and once on the road with case but no breakage so far

    • I could never really figure out why they want to make the backs of smartphones out of glass either.

    • At least you can see the injury. Dropped my Note 4 once with protective back cover on, and it started auto shut down every 30 min of so, fully charged. Definitely internal injury.

    • Just asked them at the Samsung store at Melbourne Central, they quoted around $300 for back and front and around $120 for the front screen to be replaced. The girl did say it breaks easily, though.

Brought S7 for $920 three months ago, then claimed TRS $90 and sold the free VR for $90 and Cash rewards offer $20 = So for me this is not a great bargain for a phone that is 6 months old :(

    • What's VR and how did you get $20 Cash reward?

      • Gear VR, and must have purchased through a store with cashrewards. I think there was a woolworths offer at some stage so possibly that.

        • Got it from this deal
          ShopandMint gave 2%
          And VR

        • I c. Thank you! That's very useful.

    • What is TRS? I see it all over this thread but I cant find any definition on google that makes sense in this context. Thanks

      • TRS stands for Tourist Refund Scheme. It's how you claim GST back off items you "export" as you are leaving the country with it.

        Further reading:
        https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Ente/Tour/Are-you-a-traveller

        • How are people "exporting" their good and keeping them in Aus? (i.e. how do people take advantage of this scheme)

        • @Eza0o07:

They bring it back with them after the holidays. It is not allowed though and you should pay the tax if you bring the device back to Australia.

In Europe you need to be a resident of a non EU country or hold non EU passport in order to get the tax refund there, so I always feel funny when in Australia we are all "tourists" :)

  • It says it's Vodafone branded, I haven't had a branded phone in years, can someone please explain what that means? I see the Vodafone logo on startup? Is anything else done to it?

    • +1

If it's anything like the optus, then it's a voda logo on startup and maybe a couple of apps installed that can be uninstalled. Certainly nothing crazy.

      • Just annoying but…..

        • will this delay updates?

        • @hopper: A couple of weeks probably. You'll probably be waiting several months for Nougat anyway so a couple of weeks won't make too much of a difference :D

        • @hopper: I think so, it probably means they have to be approved by Voda / Optus prior to release.

  • Just bought Huawei one followed the instruction. the Ebay Transaction page says $608 but the order details says 715. very confusing. how much did i really pay?

    • +3

How much was charged to your card / bank account through Paypal? The answer is how much you paid.

    • Price of the transaction is the full price, PayPal account will show an adjusted price, plus a separate amount for the discount which adds up to the full price. Your bank CC or whatever will reflect discounted price only. Allegedly the discount is paid by eBay, not the seller, and not you.

  • +1

This model doesn't have dual sim compatibility, which is what I'm waiting for. I know it doesn't matter to some people and that one of the sims is 2g, but if you're travelling or like to use dual sim at home (one for calls and txt, one for data), it can be useful.

    • +2

Sounds like you are trying to find a top of the range micro hifi system with cassette player…..

    • The p9?

      • I'm not sure I would like Huawei's android skin. I want a really good camera phone for my travels and apparently S7 is the best of the best.

    • Dual sim is mainly for asia market. Australia doesn't have dual Sim model. However, due to that, you probably can find cheaper dual sim model via grey import. Kogan / Dicksmith do carry them and they are priced cheaper than local stock of single sim.

      • Yeah, I'm likely gonna get a grey import G930FD. I'm not fussed about warranty, but I can see why people would be. Can't believe I missed the Shopping Square deal. Hopefully another deal pops up before I go travelling.

        • I just got myself a G930F through mobileciti this morning. Was struggling to decide cheaper grey import of FD or more expensive local stock. I would really like to have a dual sim as well, but I really hate to take the risk of receiving a reconditioned grey import phone overseas after paying more than 700 bucks.

I am not saying all grey imports are refurbished phone, but i do know a lot of them are.

My philosophy is, since I am spending so much money on nice cut of beef, why save a dollar on salt/pepper :)

      • Another consideration as well. I have an S6 dual SIM. Samsung Pay doesn't work my phone. I'm guessing it will be the same for the S7.

  • so if you buy it on ebay will you still get a gst receipt to claim it back at airport for the TRS? will office works beat this deal by 5%?

    • Your receipt will be from Mobilciti and yes they have the ABN + GST info.

Bought a Nexus 5X from them in July and used at TRS no problem.

  • Message Deleted.

  • If you are spending that amount for a phone, why not wait for Note 7, the ultimate.

    • Phone is too big and clunky.

      • I compared the S7 Edge and Note 7 in Optus and JB they are very similar when next to each other

        • I have the s7 edge and it's my limit when it comes to smartphone sizes.

  • +1

not biting yet..gonna hold on to 20%

  • is this Samsung Galaxy S7 the best priced at $820 aus stock model available currently?

    • +1

      yes, $803 for black

  • Wow the S7 under $1000 for Aus stock

  • Where is the Note 7 deals?

    • Mobileciti out of stock, Bing Lee unlisted them (mostly out of stock anyway), and the good guys not on the supported retailers. Know anywhere else to get it cheap? haha

  • Over 37+ votes and 700+ views, but only 2 units sold.

  • That p9 price is awesome

  • +1

Any idea for when note 7 will be under 1k? Desperately want it although i cant justify 1.3k for a phone

    • I'm waiting for the price to drop below $900 with ebay code.

      • Yeah would be a straight up buy at that price

  • Bought S7 this morning. Great deal. Just working out what the best case is. Thinking spigen… either rugged or neo hybrid.

  • Hi All, Just wanted to mention that I got one of these with yesterday and looking to sell for $700. It's brand new and sealed, only offering this price to Ozbargain members.

    • S7? Which colour

      • Yes S7 - in Black Onyx.

        • I might be interested. PM your details :)
