Just found this on the Qantas site, not sure if anyone has posted it before.

Adult vouchers from $14 to $15
Child vouchers $13

Hoyts Cinemas
Adult vouchers $12
Child vouchers $10

Independents Cinemas (including Reading, Dendys and Palace)

The cheapest for Sydney is $10 for adults at Dendys (all), Reading at Rhodes and Govindas.
Also, unlike optus perks you can get hoyts movie vouchers outright, no need to prebook.

- Movie vouchers are valid for five months unless otherwise specified. Movie vouchers are exchanged directly for movie tickets at participating cinemas and are valid for standard movie screenings only (except after 5pm on Saturdays at HOYTS).

    $11 from telstra movies.

    • -4

But do you get Qantas points with Telstra?

      • +15

Events Cinemas with Telstra Rewards is $12.50 which is still cheaper than $14 even if you get QFF out of it.

    • +4

telstra is now $12.50 :( It's cheaper for events cinemas though and you have to prebook

the Hoyts tickets are cheaper through Optus.

    • yep they are $1 cheaper but you have to prebook, good if you know what movie you want to see, not good for gift giving.

    • +1

Hoyts tickets are cheaper at Qantas for recliner cinemas. It shows on Optus but when you click through to booking they charge $4 extra for recliner cinemas.

Qantas is flat rate no matter what type of seats.

      • When did they do that? Only booked today to get shocked by the $3 extra per seat… o.O

        • Its been a few months now. Not sure when exactly did they do it.

  • +7

Need to buy 4 tickets at a time.

Easier to just book tickets via telstra / Optus as you need them. +save money.

Looks to be decent if you don't go to Event or Houts though.

    • Or good for gift giving

  • +5

Reading at Rhodes is already $10 any day of the week , no need to buy 4 tickets

  • +3

Definitely not cheap for event cinemas and not a special Price for hoyts either but a good alternative for those that don't have other options

    • For Event Cinemas I'm getting $15 for Adult tickets via Qantas vs $11 via RACQ.

  • Can the event cinema vouchers be used in Saturday evenings or on public holidays? If so, they can be useful for when the telstra movies rate isn't valid.

    • hey
have you figured out if they are valid on saturday evenings ?

      • I haven't bought any myself. Was hoping someone who has would have the answer to that.

        • I did buy the event cinemas vouchers $60 for 4 assuming they work on Saturdays, but that's not the case.

Its dodgy because on the order page they haven't mentioned anything about validity on Saturday evenings(they did for hoyts). Only after I ordered, its mentioned in the fine print.

I can get the same via testa for $11. No deal for events.

I purchased during my birthday month and they gave double bonus points on top of the standard points so it was $1 = 6 points

  • Had no idea about this one! Works for Dendy Cinema's in Canberra Civic for $10 each. Quite happy with that since I usually 2 for $20 on Sunday's. ends up being $22 because of the "booking fee"

  • I'll just keep going to Reading Cinemas Belmont for $10 I think.

  • A good deal for Reading Cinemas

  • +4

Why does this have so many upvotes? I was expecting hoyts tickets for 7.50

    • +1

Where can i buy $7.50 hoyts tickets to their recliner cinemas like Fountain Gate or Ringwood Vic?

Interested to know… need a few!

    • $12 for Hoyts tickets pretty good. Paid $21 two weeks ago.

  • Any extra fees for Hoyts recliner cinemas? Because if there isn't then it'd be cheaper than Optus Perks tickets that add $4 for recliner cinemas.

    • Its flat rate for qantas no surcharge.

  • Can the Reading tickets be used for all sessions? There is only mention of Hoyts not available after 5pm Saturday night but nothing I can see about reading.

  • The thing that annoys me about these deals is that they rarely clearly state how long the voucher will take to arrive. If I buy a set of four vouchers, will they be emailed within the next few minutes, or will it take a few days to arrive? BUPA and Optus tickets are excellent, they usualy arrive within seconds of my transaction completion. There are no details on the Qantas site stating how long they take to arrive.

One thing people should note, according to the Terms and Conditions it says some vouchers are not valid on Thursday, Friday or Saturday after 5pm, and some only work between Mon-Wed, so be careful what you buy:

Event Cinemas movie vouchers include Super Saver Movie eVoucher Not valid for use Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 5pm; or anytime Public Holidays, National eSaver Adult Movie eVoucheroff peak adult vouchers that can only used between Monday and Wednesday, restricted vouchers not valid for use after 5pm on Saturdays from 5pm and unrestricted eVouchersvouchers valid for use for any standard movie screening.

    • These are available immediately

  • Interesting that on their now playing movies page Qantas have chosen not to promote "Sully" - The film about the plane that crash landed into the Hudson River.

Don't hold your breath to see this film on Qantas inflight either!

Just bought four tickets for $48 for the local Hoyts so we can go and see a movie tonight. Flicked through the terms and conditions but didn't see that they're "Not valid after 5pm on Saturdays" (yes, I can see it at the bottom of the OP now). Fvcking greedy cinema chains and their stupid rules. Going to the movies sends you broke and these deals that are supposed to make it easier are just part of the scam.

No harm to OP, but this deal is a complete crock.

I'm guessing you didn't read before you purchased? It seems pretty clear to me: https://i.imgur.com/AvGEK8K.png

I thought I had, but I guess I didn't. I just think these arbitrary rules devalue the deal in a major way, especially when it's Saturday night and I'm just trying to take my girl out. Go ahead and say it's my fault for not reading the fine print though.

        • Go out on Friday night instead? Or catch an early session and spend the night "in"

        • @Tiggrrrrr: yeah, I will use them now that I've bought them, just annoying about the Saturday rule. Fully expected the negs though lol
