Still 85 for the torch, 39 for the window cleaner and 87 for the leatherman over here in WA

Masters Pricing is confusing….two stores in Perth, relatuvely close to each other have completely different pricing on same products

    • +5

That would be because these deals start Thursday

Second sentence noted second time round……

      • Looked straight at prices and to see anything of interest (Maglite) and completely skipped over the further details….

Became.more.clearer once pointed out to me ha ha

    • It is common that different Masters stores have different prices.

  • FREE 8m Lufkin Skins Tape Measure With Any Purchase Over $25 +

Probably should clarify that it's only for the first 200 customers per store

Don't worry, that should last about a whole week then.

    • Click and collect orders as well?

      • Click and collect orders as well?

        It says instore only.

        • +1

I would have thought it would mean that online delivery orders are excluded for obvious reason. No where does it say in the terms in small print that click and collect is excluded. The purchase is basicly being passed over to the store and they just reserve your purchased item for you. You could show yes you made a purchase over $25 and you're at the store collecting your purchased goods and you should be able to claim one of these tape measurers.

It clearly states in store purchases ONLY. Click and collect is an online order, it also states the date the purchase has to be made and the only way you could pick up in the first 200 would be to order the day before.

Either way click and collect is not eligible but no doubt people like yourself will push the staff to give you one.

The terms and conditions also don't say you have to pay for the goods but it's implied for any REASONABLE person.

          @Maverick-au:

I made a click and collect less than 2 hours ago and it's already available for pickup which i'm about to go get it. Purchase and pickup on the same day.

The deal says that the giveaway is starting on Thursday 25/08/2016 and so if the purchase was dated on that day then it should be ok.

Good for you but even if magically the order was ready for collection before 200 purchases have been made you are still not eligible.

An online purchase is not a store purchase.

People like your are the reason so many terms and conditions are put in place. The offer is clearly meant to get customers into the store not someone purchasing online and picking up.

    • Get it completely free by buying anything for $25 or more, get your measuring tape, come back the next day and ask for a refund! ;-)

Not only does the poster mention it multiple times in the description and not only is one of the mentions highlighted in blue but the first comment was the same and was answered!

And the catalogue mentions the dates as well!

  • Wouldn't mind a new Leatherman, but apparently the Wave (which I had and lost) is much better than the Rev. Anyone know any other good Leatherman suppliers?

    • Do folks think that the 'Leatherman' multi-tools are really worth owning? I'd suggest that I'm reasonably handy but don't own any 'multi-tool style pocket toolbox's' and haven't really found myself left wanting for a multi-tool but have always wondered whether other similarly inclined folks have found themselves since owning and using a multi-tool relatively inclined not to be without it in the general course of their projects?

I.E; I recently saw a video on woodworking where they used a hot glue gun and the various applications for that tool in the function of small to medium projects, particularly as a fastening aid for PVA long set glue, and it was a bit like one of those light bulb moments where I thought to myself I could really envisage myself using that kind of tool in a lot of projects where I've in many ways struggled and thought 'I could really use x tool here'.

I guess, in a long roundabout way, I wondering whether other people have felt similar with a multi-tool.

I can see a great proportion of the tool's appeal and directed functionality is primarily convenience, as I own most of the separate tools that a multi-tool incorporates into it's frame.

      • Yes, but can you carry around all those separate tools in your pocket?

        • I'm not a tradesperson so I'm not in a position where I'm on the road all day; if I need a tool it's just a matter of going to my tool bag.

The direct appeal of all many tools in one package isn't necessarily something that would be directly suitable to me.

This is in a sense why I brought up the example of the hot glue gun, because previously if someone had said, you should get a hot glue gun, I'd have dismissed it as being unnecessary. I've now seen that it could be a handy and useful tool to have.

The function of having x,y,z tools in one package is apparent, as was having a tool that dispenses hot glue, but it wasn't until I saw a video showing how useful such a tool could be in certain circumstances that its appeal became more apparent. So, what I'm getting at is, do folks have the same experience with a Leatherman multi-tool or are these tools moreso just a luxury, which is moreso suited for people who are constantly mobile.

I.E; many people extol the benefits of Fein/Dremel style multi-tools, where the tool replaces the function of some more traditional tools. I have relatives who are in trades who never used these tools. It was when I demonstrated their usability for cutting both PVC pipe and plaster board cutouts, they found a tool that would make their jobs easier, but had previously never considered actually using multi-tools, despite often seeing the tools but dismissing them outright as unnecessary in their day to day profession.

          @Jawanzar:
You're over complicating it way too much. It's a portable tool with lots of functions. Great for travellers to chuck in a suitcase or in the car or for someone who generally doesn't need complete sets of tools.

The tools themselves are frequently more difficult to use due to their size but having a short/small screwdriver is a lot better than nothing.

I don't have a leatherman but do have a pocket knife that includes some screwdrivers, torx drivers etc. If I'm home I use my full size tools as generally they're easier to use.

      • +1

I guess, in a long roundabout way, I wondering whether other people have felt similar with a multi-tool.

No, the leatherman serves a purpose and is used for that purpose. Especially overseas travel where it's invaluable for all sorts of applications.

        • Thanks Maverick. That application doesn't have a direct appeal to me, but this is moreso what I was driving at.

Further to that point, overseas travel, would or could this not potentially be a concern depending on the laws regarding 'concealed weapons' in particular duristictions? Obviously the onus is on the traveller to be aware of particular laws in certain countries, but I can imagine this could be an issue where travellers may become unstuck should they not be diligent enough.

  • Keep in mind the Leatherman has been $30 at Masters before

  • How on earth electric window cleaner works?

  • Gearwrench toolboxes are good quality. I wouldn't pay full price but half price is really good.

  • Has anyone used one of these Hitachi Saws?

My old Skilsaw 5150 is at least 30 years old and probably due for replacement.
Nb. I have two new 20mm bore blades sitting on the shelf but with a 16mm bore they are useless to me. :(

  • interesting this catalogue is no longer available :/

    • Yeh, I went to buy a bin and instead of 40% off like it was originally going to be, it was 20% off.
Still managed to get the free measuring tape though, had to ask the staff politely and even then they were pretty confused on whether they should be giving them out or not.

      • Sounds like the promotion was not very well run at all. Had they quickly pulled their catalogue for some reason because i can't find it.

    • Yes i can't find any catalogue any where on their web site.

  • So is the bbq stuff still 20% off or has all discounts been canceled?
What a shambles this all is.
How do we know now what in sale or offer and how much stuff is.
