OzBargain is coming up to a big milestone of 4,000,000 comments. You can see the current tally at the very bottom of every page in the footer and we are about ~67,000 comments away.
The 3,000,000th comment was in Aug 2015. The 2,000,000th comment was in May 2014. The 1,000,000th comment was in Aug 2012.
So 6 years to get to 1 million, 8 to get to 2m, 9 to get to 3m.
Guess the date & time of the 4,000,000th comment
- 1 guess per user made as a comment in this thread.
- You must give the date of when the comment is made (e.g. 22/8/16) and the time in AEST (2:49PM).
- The closest guess wins as well as the user who made the comment.
- The 4,000,000th comment must be published. E.G. If it's spam and removed, we will count the next published comment so 4,000,001.
- The comment must be in a public forum accessible to all members (excludes Talk with a Mod forum, Moderator Forum, Power User Forum). We will count the next comment so 4,000,001.
- Each person can only win 1 prize. In the case of someone guessing the 4,000,000th comment and making the 4,000,000th comment then we will count the next comment for the 2nd prize.
- Please don't game the system. Moderators have the discretion to disqualify any users found gaming the system.
Hint: We do monthly stats where we list how many comments are made per month. Last month 71,076 comments were made.
The user who has the guess closest to the actual comment date will win $40 + an OzBargain 10 (our new shirt) T-Shirt. The user who makes the comment will also get $40 and a shirt.

Well based on a minimum of 2100 comments/day then the latest it will be is 17 September. Right now OzB is averaging 2500 comments/day which means it will happen on the 14th at 10 am (which is not my guess). I probably should've done these sums before I made my guess haha.
Currently 48,765 comments remaining to hit target.
At 2,500/day, that means about 19.5 days, so around the 17th, or even the 16thComment number 3960000 was after 10 am today. So with 40,000 comments to go at 2500/day gives us 10 am in 16 days time = Wednesday 14 September.

Number 3980000 comment about five days after the 3960000th comment. So about five more days until the 4000000th comment.
@bluedufflecoat: Exactly, so about another 6 days for the next 20,000. Meaning that the 4000000th will be on the 12th.
