  Better but like triple the price. I have both, and the Bose is a tiny more refined and doesn't distort at high volumes, however the Sony X3 does similarly and the sound is excellent as well. Got mine at DSE for $74 last year. I wouldn't say the Bose is 3x better sounding than the Sony though.

Got the first version of this speaker a couple years ago, still super impressed with battery life and sound quality.
