Please do not ride bike and play Pokémon go at the same time

  • There is a stall/shop as you come through the airport where they will sell you a SIM card, put it in your phone and load it with credit for you. From memory it was about $20 or so and the call and data allowance was enough to last us the 9 days we were there. Telekomsel is the company I think.

I will be doing the same again when we go there in January.

  • The stall at the airport is the easiest most convenient option but the prices are double or triple what you will pay if you find a Sim card shop outside the airport. Look for the shops that are just selling phone stuff and Sim cards, their prices will probably be fixed too. Also all the shops that sell tourist crap will also probably have a few for sale in the cabinets out the front but you will have to haggle with them for a good price.

    • True, but the cost is not high anyway and you will leave the airport already connected. For me the convenience wins hands down.

      • Wats the avg cost of sim pack for data pls ?

  • According to the link here, around $20 for 8GB plus call allowance or $15 for 4GB. They will put the SIM in the phone for you and you will be good to go. I found the speed and connection to be very decent when I used this service last year.

Prices confirm how much we are getting ripped off for data in Australia.

    • Thanks mate.
Swapping starter packs is the way to go in Aus.
