wow! i hadn't realised that laser printers had become so cheap, hopefully soon we'll see colour laser around this price

77 is the normal price for this model,

66 + 12 = 78.00, not bad if you cant make it to any major chain and compare price othrwise this is no deal .

Another thing to note with this printer, when the toner runs out throw it away the new toner is more/same price as the printer.

It's sad that rational economic behaviour requires us to create more e-waste. Has anybody tried toner refilling for this cartridge?

Still trying to find a refill for this machine i have 2x 1640 and the 2240 the chip on the toner makes it hard and most wont give you a refund it it doesnt work.

You are right it is sad about the pollution :)

        rational economic behaviour

        Samsung ML1640 with 700 page toner $60
        8.57 cents per page.

        Genuine Samsung MLT-D108S 1,500 page toner $75
        5 cents per page

Non genuine 1,500 page toner $50
        3.33 cents per page.

Keep buying a new printer if you want however in an economic sense it is hardly rational when each page you print costs you more than buying another toner.

      • cartridge world will refill them.

I bought this printer after the last OzBargain offer ($74 inc postage).

The printer itself is not bad. Text quality is pretty good but if you look closely you'll notice the text isn't totally smooth. Photographs or anything printed in greyscale looks rather poor, with visible banding and dithering being a bit uneven. Pumping up the resolution doesn't help. Yes, the toner cartridge was well shaken before insertion.

Every time you print the feeder paper tray has to be opened and end stopper adjusted for A4 paper. That's the price to pay for a very small printer. Leave the tray open and it'll gather dust.

Printed pages coming out of the printer have a habit of not falling cleanly into the tray, so every now and then the user needs to prod the paper to stop it catching on previously printed sheets.

On the upside the printer is dirt cheap, fast, and takes only a few seconds to heat up. I will never use an inkjet for basic documents again.

    • Leave the tray open and it’ll gather dust.

Its only dust, i'd leave the tray open!
I dont really see it as a space saving design, if you want to print you still need the space for the paper tray to fold flat.

I think the big advantage to it is the reduction in packaging, materials to make the printer and reduction in shipping volume.

The paper tray for those who dont know
