  • do these contain 18650 lipo batteries? How many? might be worth buying just for the batteries.

Requires two CR123 batteries – included.

read the description: Requires two CR123 batteries – included

      • Check out the review i don't know much about Led-lesnsers it could have a buck driver and only need 3 volts to run or it could really need 2 cr123 and have a 6v LED then it wouldn't run on a single 18650. Also it may have a low current driver so you will get more power by running 2 Cr123 or the equivalent rechargeable 16340.

        • This guy has a 18650 battery in them. Looks like it's fine.

@MissKitty: I really didn't want to waste my time watching a review on this light lol. Hes even using an Ultrafire cell. Some light prefer 2 cells i have a Jetbeam you get an extra 150 lumens when using 2 cr123s. But yes it works fine.
If your going to be playing with 18650s please buy name brand cells Sony Panasonic LG samsung! Also buy a good charger!

The page it links to states "Requires two CR123 batteries – included."

18650 batteries are not LIPO which are a battery in a pouch or soft package.

Why would it be worth buying it for the batteries? You can buy 8 Panasonic 18650 3400mAh batteries with protection for around $40.

    • Personally the batteries CR123 is the deal breaker for me.
If it runs on AA or AAA, I would grab one for sure!

Your deal description is as succinct and a short as your name

Has anyone used these? Are they powerful?
Also isnt lasers illegal in Australia

    • +3

      ???
Its a torch (flashlight) - not a laser

    • As blair said, it's a torch. And lasers are legal up to 1mW.

      • Yep <1mW for portable lasers. Bench top lasers don't have any power restrictions (other than grievous bodily harm type ones :p) I believe.

2 x CR123 is one of the most dangerous battery configurations. You want to amke sure you appreciate the old adage of not mixing old and new or even different makes of batteries in these.

Batteries of the past, alkalines etc have been built so that when someone pulls batteries from 2 drawers, no idea of how old any of them are and just pops them into a device to see if they work, if they do, awesome, if not, find one more battery from a another drawer of pull it from a clock or whatever and shuffle in hopes two of the three will give some level of power at least… these are not so forgiving.

And in high current devices, which these torches usually are, its made worse. I say this because at around $10 per battery (Woolies is around that for Energiser), the mix and match is more likely to occur.

And yep, maybe your mate got away with it, and maybe you will too. Or not. These are more likely to be nasty compared to most batteries people are familiar with using. When it goes bad, you will know. When an alkaline goes bad, its just leaks, these start fires and air tight waterproof torches become mini pipe bombs. Anyone see the bloke with the mobile phone burn his leg, LITHIUM, its awesome, and with awesome comes danger.

TL:DR Respect the idea of not mixing batteries. LITHIUM is not alkaline.

  • If the inside tube diameter is 18mm then an 18650 will fit…..

  • just wondering how well Lithium batters will work in this light ?
Thinking grabbing one instead of P5

  • Has anyone tried this - Blazeray? Are they for real?

    • Looks pretty fishy to me. And at $56usd (for 1), best to go for a Thrunite TN12 or similar - a well respected and highly regarded flashlight for a similar price.
