  • Good price TA, as always. Can you negotiate a good deal for Yoga 260 please? Looking at a midrange spec with i5 and FHD. Thanks!

    • Yes pls. A deal on yoga would be great

  • I am looking for windows 7 and minimum 4gb graphic in i7 can i.

I bought this last time. Quite a decent laptop. Shipping was appalling. Demanded you be home 9am-5pm - No genuine pickup option - repeatedly 'tried delivery' during school pickup time despite rquests to the contrary. Took 3 weeks to get laptop and had to get neighbor to pick up kids!

    • Should clarify… I bought the 14". Would not want bigger.

Couriers please leave at select newsagents, startrack will leave at post office.and click n collect , some companies just don't explore delivery options. Deliveries at work, they stopped as reception looked like a hoarders house, we have 500 people in our office.

    • Was that with StarTrack?

      • +2

        StarTracking, across the universe…

      • +2

StarTrack can seriously get (profanity). They don't deliver anything, even an envelope, to my house, but they do deliver a piece of paper saying my envelope is at the post office 1km away.

      • +1

They use DHL. In DHLs defence the '9-5 home all day' option is what Lenovo pays for… So delivery COULD be better - its just they go for cheap shipping.

Also be wary with warranty services, QSL (the repair company that Lenovo engages) automatically pick a day to pick up the laptop from you. Same deal, 9AM-5PM, no drop off option.

I contacted TOLL priority who are providing the courier service and they said they usually pick up between 1PM-5PM, but again can't be more specific than that.

Reading the T&C's from QSL, failure to be home when the courier arrives will result in an additional fee for failed pick-up.

      • Not to mention that QSL are essentially incompetent.

    • Isn't that what Parcel Lockers are for?

the previous one was way better
    Lenovo ThinkPad E560 i7-6500u, 16GB RAM, FHD 15.6", 2GB VRAM, 1TB HDD $868 Shipped @ Lenovo Store

    • link? did it have dedicated graphics card?

    • Sadly this time it's more expensive BUT I can't think of any situation where you'd need 16GB RAM at this current moment (in future cases there will be)

I purchased this machine in the last sale. I recommend ….
    1. Swapping the HDD for an SSD and;
    2. Placing the existing HDD into the optical drive using a drive caddy.

    • hows gaming on it?

    • Have to second this. Bought this for my partner during the last sale and laptop was sluggish as hell.

HDD now reports errors so I have to send it back for warranty service.

  • +1

Surely to god the HDD is a bottleneck in that machine making it as slow as a wet weekend?

Its probably a 5400rpm that was standard like 20 years ago and an SSD is much faster and has no moving parts so less heat

    • "Surely to god the HDD is a bottleneck in that machine making it as slow as a wet weekend?"

Only if you're running so little ram that you're constantly disc caching. Load times for most data aren't primarily limited by drive speed, not unless you have an ESDI? Load up a huge raw image on any PC, I guarantee the delay is in the processor, no matter what it is.

Probably sluggish to boot up, but that's why we have Sleep. Only reboot when there's no choice.

      • +2

Nah… You are wrong. Load time for anything will be slow. I have this laptop (14" -16gb ram) and used it once with the 'spinning rust' it was appalling. I replaced with SSD and its magic.

        • Same experience with dell inspiron 5000(i7, 16gb ram). Bought a 240Gb SSD from here for $80. Couldn't be happier after the upgrade.

      • +1

Of course the HDD will be the bottleneck when loading any large file…

    • Yep. Its 5400rpm. Its funny because for a while we had 7200rpm drives but dont seem to see em now. Reliability or cost I guess.

  • Upgrade to SSD and 16GB RAM puts the total price to $1,648.99

With TA"s coupon the price goes down to

    Total (inc. GST): $1,277.99

Not a bad price for this config.

  • Yes, but it's Lenovo :/

  • Lenovo isn't all bad. We have a dozen or so ThinkPads (e540's) used in a workshop enviro and we haven't had any fail in the last couple years.
And we have a heap of budget E130's or something from years back… while they have horrible performance they're still going after 4 years.

Maybe we're just lucky. And it is a hit and miss thing sometimes… occasionally someone will end up with a laptop that has endless issues and that sour the experience.

    That's just my 2c.

Personally I don't mind (ASUS, DELL, Lenovo), I've been considering the E560 for a while just for cost and need a new laptop to replace my ancient 13" Asus.

Got this laptop with the radeon r7 and ssd, for some reason runs like crap, battery unchargeable after 6 days (was replaced) but yeah overall not impressed. Possibly faulty memory or vid card could b the problem.

    • I replaced the HDD with SSD, crappy Win10 with Linux, I couldnt be happier. This one just has poor battery performance (under 3h watching movies).

Been waiting for a laptop with spec's like this one - Came to $858.43 after Cashrewards.
Bought a HDD Caddy too from ebay for $6.69.

    • Please tell the steps to get the bargain price of $858.43. Thanks.

      • +2

For me, I went to TA's link, added it to cart and applied the code. I then went back to the online store via CashRewards and payed the cart which should show up as the discounted price
