I wonder if Samsung has dropped the price of the Blu-ray 4k player in response to the release of the Xbox one S

  • +1

What is everyone doing with their large perfectly functioning full hd LCD or plasma TV? Trade-in ?

  • +2

Just a word of wording about Dolby Vision. Some of the latest 4K equipment only supports HDR10 (which is a competing standard to Dolby Vision).
The new Xbox One S for example only supports HDR using HDR10, not Dolby Vision.

HDR 10 is the open standard and the one mandated by the Ultra HD Blu-ray certification, which means it is supported by every Ultra HD television and player.

Dolby Vision will happily play HDR 10 but could also provide additional colour depth and accuracy, essentially it's an upgrade to HDR 10 that may or may not prove useful depending on studio support.

UH950T support 60Hz refresh rates through the TV’s three HDMI 2.0a ports, with 10-bit native colour and support for both the regular HDR10 standard of high dynamic range, and Dolby Vision for the super-luxe 12-bit version of HDR. Beyond that there are three USB 3.0 ports for downloaded media on a flash drive or hard drive, and all your usual legacy audio and video inputs and throughputs, as well as 802.11ac/n Wi-Fi, wired Ethernet and FreeviewPlus catch-up TV support. It even supports 3D, if you’re the one person that still wants to watch it.

  • just a quick question,

is this TV worth to buy?

any guru's advise? is it worth the money?

    • Depends on how you use it. I have the 65" UHD Soniq for under $1k as a computer monitor and watching movies and is PERFECT for its intended use.

  • I'm tempted too, I have a Panasonic V10 plasma from 2008 that I would like to replace, this price is about $700 cheaper than everyone else's, and great reviews around…

Unless is anyone can convince me otherwise, I might buy this weekend :)

  • I am torn because I am looking for a larger size than 65" say 70 inch or above and I normally don't like LG product but Ozbargain communities have good feedback of the recent LG TVs and this price is within my budget, what should I do ???? Someone please help me to decide. Need it for all TV functions movies and smart TV.

    • I think you should buy two and send me one.

Alternatively, pop into your local JB and check the TV out in person. A sales person will give you the time of day over a 4K sale. As far as LG's reputation, people keep telling me they've had bad experiences years ago but I've yet to run into an issue with their TVs (<4 years).

Thanks Tetsuma, have to buy the Gid Lotto Powerball first, if I won I'll buy everyone in the ozbargain community a free TV! :)
